Like everybody else here I have had consistently crazy bad beats playing online poker.I think there is probably some kind of hidden handicap system running in the background to protect(encourage newbies)
Anyway what I would like to know is if anyone knows of any new sites in the pipeline that are ready to come online in the UK when the new gambling regulations come into force, hopefully 2007.
Once I know the site is properly regulated I can look forward to playing a real game of poker instead of sham we have now.

Have you tried Ladbrokes? I know they're quite reputable, but haven't played there because I'm in the USA. I just know they use the same s/w as Prima, but not tied into their network in any way.

I have

Yeah I have played at Ladbrooks and many other sites in the past but always with the same results.Win at first and then start suffering ludicrous bad beats esp' in sit and go tourneys.I havent played online for 6 months now and will not do so again until I know it is properly regulated which is why I am interested to know if anyone knows if and when there are going to be any new poker sites with servers based in the UK when the new gambling regulations come into force.

Yup

...and what should be even more interseting is just how those sites will compare gameplay wise with the current Prima sites and it gets better, what software will they use and is there a good argument to be made for the software to be made available for public viewing? After all I would of thought any security issues were server related and being able to see the code would not compromise security.
What do you think Prima?

:what:

There's no way any poker room would make their code available to the public. They'd be asking for people to cheat! :D

ahhh but

That is the thing though. Knowing the code would not matter you would still have to hack into the server and be able to manipulate or change the code from within.

But yet would help people in knowing what packets to look for to/from other clients, and also leaves the door open for people to get backdoored from others that manipulate the client code.

aye

Tis true but the networking part of the code could be left out, anyway mine is a moot point as we could never know if we were looking at the genuine code. I guess in the end it comes down to trust. By the way would you and any other online poker players reading prefer to play in a UK regulated Casino if that happens next Year?

Laugh out loud at the thought that "new regualtions" will change poker software at all.

Laugh even louder at the concept of companies releasing their code for "scrutiny" from the general populace.

That's like demanding intel release detailed schematics of their latest chips so IT nerds can estimate their computing requirements ...
:D

The code block seems to be around 6MB, what are you expecting to see a few comments left in like "Here iswhere we deliver the runner-runner sucker punch?"

Or perhaps "here is where we stick it to Rusty" ...
:D

There is no grand conspiracy to deliver bad beats - people simply have a false idea of what their chances of winning are. People think that when AQ is beaten by 35 it's a bad beat. But AQ was only a 63% favourite anyway.

Look.
I saw a WSOP circuit tourney program last night on TV ... final table action.

I saw the chip leader knock out a player with his 66 against QQ on the river.
And later on in the heads up showdown the same chip leaders KK was beaten by 66 again.

It happens just as often in the real world
- but we play a lot less real world hands
- and maybe we also play against better players in real world?

But ... there is no grand conspiracy to deliver bad beats

LMFAO

Waaahhaaaha that is exactly what I expect to see.

By the way what you see on TV is only the bad beats and significant pots and I agree with you it is just like unedited online poker ;)

One other thought;

If you were unscrupulous and greedy enough to own a gambling site and had a sure fire way to increase your profits without any fear of comebacks would you not do it?

It is an unregulated industry worth billions of dollars, people have killed for a lot less, go figure.

 >my best poker face

Hilarious thread...

I started out learning/playing poker live to take a break from the backoffs I was getting counting cards at Blackjack. I hadn't heard of the WSOP or the big online poker fad. I played live exclusively for months before messing with online poker rooms. I can assure you there are periods in live poker where the match to your small pocket pair will hit the flop, the fifth to your suit will hit the turn or river or the end of your OESD will come through, not to mention catching quads or a straight flush to pop someone else's boat. And the undesirable alternatives also take place... and they can take place in close succession.

My guess is some combination of not having much experience live, an initial experience of heavy positive variance that conditioned you to expect it all the time and online multi-tabling that allows about 4-25 times as many hands in a given timeframe along with its concomitant increase in bad beat frequency have resulted in an unrealistic judgment of online poker.

Found this on another forum....can anyone please verify this?

Prima is locking accounts from users in 7 states where they have laws against gambling online already in place. These include:

States are:
Illinois
Nevada
Indiana
Washington
Wisconsin
Louisiana
Missouri

Again, can anyone confirm this?

Winbig - I checked this out with Microgaming Poker Network management and they have commented that there is "no truth whatsoever" in this allegation.

Thanks...I recently found out that it's individual prima rooms that are doing it. Purple Lounge and Dream Poker are ones that I know of...

no cigar

Players yelling rigged=Losing players. That is all.

I have played live poker on and off for over 10 Years and of course you get bad beats that is not the issue. My problem is when over a sustained period I am only winning 9% of all ins post flop even though I am ahead in 87% of these and I am not talking about 55% 45% splits most of the time the odds have been much more in my favour. These stats are from sit n go tourneys as I stopped playing the cash games because they were awash with shrills and props.
Ultimately we can only go off our own experiences and if that experience for you represents a fair and realistic game of poker then play away, I am happy for you.
By the way I am actually in front from playing online poker as I would always win at a new site before the bad beats started rolling in, as I have said it is NOT rigged against individual players just bias towards noobies.
Only my opinion of course.;)
PS
Has anyone read anything here about the recent arrests made in the US regarding online gambling bosses?

Challenge.... (lol) Go to Jetset and play Paigow and then come back & post Not rigged.....! Impossible. They have by far the worse paigow online going and of course they always have some sucker promo going to entice you as today ( On Fridays Golden cookie day ) Get 250 go points and have a chance at a golden cookie which can be worth UP to 1000.00., usually you don't see a golden cookie but IF you do is isn't worth as much as you spent.

The challenge is on.. Jetset Paigow DOES = LOSERS ! And so many will agree, just sit and watch them all b**tchin, really it is sad to see all them lose those hard earned dollars to such a RIGGED game at that site.

I BEEN THERE

Strong accusations.....now back them up

Strong accusations.....now back them up

Yes they are and if several thousands lost by myself is not enough and of course my word., then by all means please feel free to play against those odds yourself. The other poker games play roughly as equal to any site but I assure you the Prop Banker Lee (s) from Vegas will beat you and.... they will let you know ( if they are speaking ) that the odds are always in favor of them. An accusation is accusing and a fact is a fact. That is why the challenge * , Personally, I do not want you to lose your money but I would like for someone with the resources to play and see the amazing catches by the house v/s your what appears to be goodhand to loss over & over & over.
If you bet low, you might push or win occasionally, raise that bet and BOOM you are done. If it is fair and the RNG <<(lol) is not rigged, it should never matter the bet, headsup is hand to hand against the prop banker and he will win 80% of the hands until you are finally broke. He may give you a sniff every now and then but in the end, He knows your money is his.
1 persons views are never enough so I am asking for many and then we shall see how fair those views together compare to what I have said.

Just my opinion and would love to see more from others on this subject.
Maybe with some regulation, this would not have came about but until then... they can do what they want, how they want and when they want !
