Forgive me for not bringing this up before, BUT:

You can bypass all the BS about whether or not your bank will accept your ACH withdraw from a casino.

Why/How?

You can treat your Netspend card as a "Bank account"!

All you need to do is logon to your account at netspend.com, and get the routing & account information, then request an ACH withdraw from the casino. Simple as that

Please note that you cannot send money FROM your Netspend card via ACH, only TO it.

Does this card have any fees for using it? Do you have to load it before attempting an ACH withdrawal?

So once you have your withdrawal on the Netspend card can you then transfer that to a bank account, PayPal, or somewhere?

Thanks for the info! :notworthy

Yes, Yes and No.

Okay so you have won for example $500.00 and transferred it to your Netspend card. Now what do you do with that money? Request a check? Or can you only request a check if you are closing your Netspend account?

ATM Withdrawal I believe, I have not tried it yet though. I was just trying to find where I read that on their site.

or you can just use the balance to make regular VISA purchases (of course if you were making regular purchases/casino fundings it might be worth it to pay the $70 annual fee instead of the $1 fee per purchase

You can also use it as a savings account

...And get interest too!

NetSpend Raises Interest Rate on Prepaid Card's Savings Plan

NetSpend recently increased the interest rate on its prepaid debit card's linked savings plan. The interest rate was boosted to 3% on October 1, 2006, in order to match mainstream savings accounts. NetSpend introduced the card last year with an annual percentage rate of 0.75%.

Compare Prepaid Credit CardsThe higher interest rate reflects how just as banks have been investigating ways to serve the under banked, businesses that already serve such consumers are providing new services to drive earnings and hold onto existing customers.

NetSpend Chief Executive Rick Savard explained that the idea was to encourage customers to "notice" the benefits and raise the interest rate to a "level that motivates customers to join the program."

As a marketer and processor of prepaid products, the company's revenue comes from interchange paid by merchants and the fees it charges cardholders.

NetSpend's prepaid card stems from a collaboration with the Financial Services Centers of America, a trade group representing check cashers and other money-services businesses. The cards are sold at over 6,000 money-services business locations and can be reloaded at those outlets or online. NetSpend prepaid cards have no minimum balance.

Inter National Bank, a division of INB Financial Corp., maintains the NetSpend savings accounts. NetSpend and the money-services businesses collect a fee for selling and reloading the cards.

According to Jennifer Tescher, director of the Center for Financial Services Innovation, a unit of Chicago's ShoreBank Corp. that advocates greater access to banks for underserved communities, this is the first program to offer interest rates on a savings plan for the under banked. She explained that customers benefit not just from the interest they can earn, but also from the credit history the program enables them to develop.

Since NetSpend introduced the program a year and a half ago, it has created more than 50,000 accounts, and in 2006 its customer base has been expanding by nearly 15% a month, Mr. Savard reported.

Savard noted that NetSpend sends a text message to cardholder's cell phones each time there is activity on the card, explaining that the simple delivery of information is very attractive for the under banked. Since NetSpend is not a bank, the company is not required to send monthly statements to account holders.

The holding company is a Texas Corp.. Doesn't seem like they will last very long processing gaming transactions? Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Do any reputable casinoes have this listed on their cashier page?

I've used Netspend cards many times for the past year or so at reputable casinos & poker rooms....before & after the UIGEA.....not sure where you're getting at....:)

Before this this thread, I had never heard of them, winbig. I thought it was a new option?

I was a loyal NETeller user before all the hoopla. NETeller had never jerked me in the past, so I used them pretty much whenever I could.

Had a firepay account for 888. ePassporte for Party / Empire. Swiftpay for SIA. That was it. And I only funded those accounts when I had to.

In October I seriously started limiting my exposure offshore. After Pinnacle, I cashed out of NETeller fully. Got $$ in PokerStars, thats it. Hopefully I will get that out soon. Then I plan to sit on the sidelines, and wait a little bit for things to mellow out. Thats the plan, anyway.

I would like a relatively safe ewallet option though, for the meantime, in case something juicy comes up. Which I think is likely.

If you have used this for the last year. What I have heard about Netspend so far, this seems like the best option yet...Interest, that could cover the $70 yearly fee?

there is another card that looks similar to netspend. the eufora card is a pre-paid mastercard debit card. from the little reading i've done, netspend seems like they're a bit more organized, but I've never used Eufora so I'm just guessing.

There's no yearly fee. You can either pay $9.95 a month for unlimited transactions, or $1 per transaction....ACH loads are free.

have you actually tried this recently winbig?

netspend website makes no mention of it other than ACH from paypal. I went to the withdrawal form at Grand Prive and it asks for bank account number and branch location. i guess i'll have to make some calls, but I thought I'd run it by you first.

It says all over their site that they allow direct deposit, so I'm assuming they still do. I haven't checked lately, but if the routing and account #'s aren't on the site, I'm sure a quick call will solve that :)

Prepaid debit card that charges an annual fee? I'd steer clear of them.

They offer a "Credit builder" card also. These things just make me sick. They feed on people that shouldn't even have credit in the first place.

I can only say this at GG's forum I've been pretty heavily with Netspend.

So far, they work for me --- but there have been some interesting developments - and I'm sure there will be a lot more.

It does have my link on it - if you do sign up with it, feel free to use the link to get yourself 2.00

HOWEVER - know this is what I think.

I think ALL Visa/MC and FInancial processors are going to be running for the hills shortly.

But at least with Netspend, they are probably still going to be here after the dust settles so you'll still have money in the bank ---- to withdrawl - and if you're keeping up with current events - you will know WHEN to withdrawl.

M
PS. This shit is getting scary - like the Gestapo scary.

Yanno?

Yep, scary indeed. Maybe it'll be like way back in the day where they rounded people up and ruined their lives if the Govt thought you were a communist.

Anyone remember reading/hearing about that?

I've seen a movie on it, and that was VERY scary. They would even go by hear-say. If someone told the authorities that you were a communist, that's all it took....BOOM, you're arrested.

Win, you're probably not going to believe this but way back in the day when I was your age we would have to walk two miles to get stoned and have sex !!
