Hi all,
I stumbled across this forum via Facebook and have been browsing it the past few days. Here is SA we have an extremely limited selection of online Casinos available to us however I do see that a number of the ones listed here will take ZAR deposits. My one concern however is how easy the payouts will be if it comes from overseas as we will then have to deal with forex rules and regulations. Is there anyone else here from SA that has been doing this for a while?

Secondly I have been playing poker online for years at Silver Sands and they also have online machines, I have never had an issue with receiving my payouts from them as it is done from a local bank account and shows in my account as something innocuous such as SagePay so no reference to a casino at all. I have found one or two references to Sands in your forums but they are very old (over 10 years old) does anyone have an insight into this casino that is more recent?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to learning more regarding what’s available and safe in the online casino world.

Hi and welcome.

It is illegal for South Africans to gamble online. Banks report the transactions to the Reserve Bank or visa-versa. The bank will then contact you for an explanation regarding the transactions and the Reserve Bank will then decide whether to prosecute you or not. The penalties are severe with fines up to R10,000,000 (£564,000) and / or 10 years in prison.

There are some licensed sports books where you can place bets on sports legally, but no licensed online casinos at this point in time.

Be safe out there
