My big shot...thoughts and ramblings..lol

winbig

Keep winning this amount.
I'll be playing in my first $100+ entry tournament tomorrow, which is a $115k weekly guarantee. Quite the shot for a micro/low stakes player. I'm not expecting much, but I will definitely be giving it my all. :)

1st place is worth over $20k, which is 20x more than the biggest cash I've had in previous years...so it's definitely a game changer in that regard. It's the shot I've always needed in order to "break out." If I win anything, I'll be cashing out 75% and leaving the rest to use as my bankroll, no matter how much it is. I've never had a proper bankroll, as in the past I've made money from the tables, but have had to cash it out for personal expenses.

But anyways, gl2me tomorrow. The tournament starts at 4pm EDT on the WPN network (Americas Cardroom, Black Chip Poker, etc.) if you have any desire to rail, I'll be streaming on Twitch (check the "live twitch play" thread for link)

I'll also be posting updates here, as well.

:)

That is all, and:

Yea, luck does play somewhat of a role in poker. You can play good all tournament long, but you gotta be able to outrun luck. In the long run, skill does prevail...

Hopefully I'll be able to post a screenshot in the winner's SS thread late tomorrow night/early Monday morning. :p It's basically a freeroll for me (even though I obviously won't be treating it as such,) seeing as how I completed a writing project for the poker room in order to gain entry into these 4 tournaments (2 - $200+15 and 2 - $50+5) that take place this Sunday and next. :notworthy

I'm off to bed so I'm well rested for tomorrow.....I'ma gonna set my alarm for noon..lol

I used to love Pokerstars' Sunday GTD event - it was $1M I think when they closed to the US. :(

Yea, Stars has the best tournaments.....They still run low buy-in tournaments (Such as $10+$1) with HIGH guarantees, such as $10-$20k...Won't find that anywhere else, besides maybe FTP maybe....

The WPN (Winning poker network) has a $1M guaranteed that starts on August 2nd....Here's a list of rooms that you can play on that network...You can satellite in via freerolls, as well...

Bleh...that was a disaster. At least I can say I lasted past first break, and wasn't the first one out

Last hand = nut flush vs hidden FH.....(68s )

I still have the $55 satellite at 8pm that I'll be streaming as well...

it's quite a feeling to reach the final table in those big tournaments :P hope you have your share of luck too!

As I mentioned in the other twitch thread, my laptop doesn't keep up too well when I'm streaming...:( So unfortunately, I won't be able to do that anymore....ahhhhhhhh

Well, it's 2 hours away from the next $115k gtd, hoping to have a better showing than last time...:p

I tend to get distracted from the big picture, so I've setup sticky notes on my computer, and will keep it "on top," as a constant reminder of things I should remember...feel free to add to this list

You can't win the tournament in one hand.

Win each table at a time, then the tournament.

Don't worry what rank you are until close to the $ bubble.

Don't get mad, get even.

THINK about it, THEN act.

DO NOT GO ON TILT! TAKE A BREAK!

If they sucked out on you and you played the hand well (ie: they made a stupid call,) then THEY'RE the fish that just happened to get lucky.

is he really raising with a worse hand?

If you bet river, is he really going to call with the losing hand? Is the bet worth it?

Don't try to outplay everyone every single hand. You can't win them all.

Good luck Grumpycat. Rooting for you !!!!!

Went down to 1900 chips 2 hands before break but won the next 2 to grind my way up to 9600 again.....not a comfortable stack, but still have wiggle room. Lost QQ vs AK :\

up to 348 players left in it (445 original, 50 re-entries) Loooooooong way to go, but 81 get paid.

Its better to try a non rebuy tourney or a lower rebuy tourney if those stakes are high for you. Although anything can happen with a single buy in, a lot of people rebuy immediately and will continue to do so throughout the tourney. Its just a little more difficult to compete with peoples large bank rolls.

I used to multi table at Pstars for 12+ hours a day a number of days a week. I really thought I was getting to close to doing it full time and then it came crashing down with the DOJ.

I did not play many $100 rebuy tourneys but mostly the $5 $8 $10 rebuys, and would typically keep rebuying until the break. I would play aggressive/donk poker in the 1st hour to build the chip stack. In the rebuy tourneys, you will generally see 15-25% of the field with huge chips stacks after the first break.

Well, it was a free entry for me, so it was worth the shot, of course :)

Busted, but lasted 2.5x longer than last week :p Now playing in the $50+$5 (freeroll for me, again) satellite into the $1M guaranteed on August 2nd...Right now I'm 1st in chips after 40 minutes...we'll see....1 in 10 get a seat; but to be honest, if there's no overlay, I'll donk myself out in order to get the $ instead, as I'd rather put that $ to better use than a seat that I can't transfer/sell, in a tournament that I have a slim chance of cashing in.

And yea, I play the same way...super LAGgy to chip up, especially in a top-heavy paying field....and in those rebuy/re-entry, they're definitely willing to spew their chips off with marginal hands/draws.

What I'm on the fence about is the "re-entry" tournaments. Yes, it's nice that for payouts they consider a re-entry to be an extra runner instead of a normal rebuy tournament, which means more places get paid, but on the other hand, payouts are much less than in a rebuy....

56 left after 2nd break, no more re-entry....still a bit of overlay, so playing for 10th+ to get a seat.

Sitting with 40BB, 30 is the average stack...
