Most frustrating things on slots

Inspired by psychogenes post where he cited Gonzos Quest as one of the most frustrating slots around I thought I would start a thread and see what everyone thinks. I know I have many pet hates! I think a lot of slot companies read these forums and maybe they will take notice

There are so many different ways you can be wound up when you are spinning away, not all of them are necessary slot companies! The most common is simply going a long time without hitting the feature/bonus round. Once it gets over 200 spins I start to be annoyed, over 300 and I begin to get my tin foil hat out and start wondering if its rigged. Over 500 and I want to smash my laptop into a million pieces with a giant sledgehammer. However it gets worse.

CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON - Getting the needless animation when you hit the target with no spins or respins left. WHY netent - I know my round is over and I cant win anymore and you are just rubbing salt into the wound - ITS POINTLESS! Even worse when the hit opens one of the new wilds - you get the whole new wild song and dance - wasting your time in the most annoying of manners. Please Net Ent spare a thought for how the players feel when losing our deposits!

JURASSIC PARK - Specifically that spitting dinosaur feature. Holy crap that has to be the most frustrating slot feature ever designed. That little ****ard is just designed to infuriate! I wish I could book a holiday going on safari shooting those little buggers.

"BIG WIN" ANIMATIONS ON 15xBET Nothing more needs to be said. Feels like a kick in the happy sack when you are on your third deposit without a bonus feature, you hit something that pays 15x bet in the base game and the bloody thing sounds a bell and informs you that you have won a BIG WIN!!! NO I HAVENT YOU STUPID PIECE OF ****.

NOTABLE MENTION - "Error 2"/"This game is currently unavailable" all cheapo webbrowser game based rubbish like that. Even when you are having an enjoyable session where you are hitting bonus games this can pop up just to make it a nightmare. Multiplied x 100000 when you go to report it to cs and they ask if you have tried clearing your cookies.

Anyone else got any things they find highly frustrating with slots? Game design or otherwise.

Any slot that has the balls to say Congratulations! You have won 0 coins! after a horrific "bonus game".
Makes me want to punch my monitor

Also - I'm currently on over 2000 (two thousand) spins on Hall Of Gods without triggering the hammer bonus. A few different casinos.
I harbour no ambitions of hitting the jackpot because I'm not from one of NetEnt's favourite countries, but I find it really strange and very frustrating. It's not exactly a rarity to trigger that bonus and I'm starting to get paranoid.

Any animation that takes a few seconds and won't let you skip it. IE: Terminator 2's random T-800 feature...unless there is a scatter present for the free spins, it's the cue to go and put the kettle on or do something else for a minute.

In fact, anything that slows the game down where you know you aren't actually going to get anything good. Game of Thrones - 2 scatters where you get 1, 2 or 3x - that type of thing. Similarly, feature animations where you know you haven't won. Like watching wilds expand on a no-win spin.

Best thing to do is just hit refresh and it skips the animation.

I got $225 from two scatters on bonus round On thrones ... Back to the thread now. Loky and Sarah bonus filling up the entire right side of screen everytime wild lands on losing spin. Takes forever for nothing..

Sorry forgot to mention the bet was.. 90 cents

A special mention should go to the old two scatters on the first two reels popping up....

except when you've gone maybe 500 spins and are about to bust out and then you get scatters on the first two reels TWICE IN A ROW, almost like the slot is waterboarding you or something.

My record is currently is three consecutive spins where scatters have popped up on the first two reels.

And then when the the game has finished pissing about with the torturing, you can almost guarantee that on the next spins those 'missing' scatters will almost certainly appear on the last reels like some big F.U

Also, that sort of inescapable sinking feeling you get on a session where your balance just dies a miserable death for no apparent reason and you just know that no matter what slot you switch to, that's all your getting for today Sonny Jim

There's so many annoying things about slots - you could write a book about it!
I'll add a couple here which immediately spring to mind, not yet mentioned above:

South Park 2: The "Bonus Free-Spins" - takes forever to win 2/5 of crap-all
(In fact, ALL the bonus rounds on this one are shite compared to South Park 1)

Aliens: Taking like FOREVER to get to the Hive Feature, and then it's crap...

Sparce Warts: WHY does this slot even exist?

Any game with a Picking Feature which can end on your first pick giving you £0, or 2 free-spins @ x1, or something similarly crap :(

Rival Gaming: Have got stuck in a rut for the last 2 years of ONLY producing 50-line slots. Where has the imagination and innovation which created the iSlots and great 20-line slots gone to?

Immortal Romance: Sorry, but I just don't get it. Played it again a few days ago to see if I could work out what I am missing: 2 x Wild Desire both paid $0, and 10 free-spins @ x5 were pretty close to that too.

Might be back with more whingeing later - you have been warned!
KK

For me, the most frustrating thing for any slot would be getting free spins/feature and it paying less than 10x etc. - further fuelled by more frustration if it took 200+ spins to get the feature in the first place.

Loky and Sarah bonus filling up the entire right side of screen everytime wild lands on losing spin. Takes forever for nothing..

This right here. Especially that BITCH Sarah
Her bonus round is far and away the worst I have ever played on any slot ever. It's like... broke or something. Constantly filling up reels 3 and 5 for no reason whatsoever. WHY!???

Right TFTUT and the pointless target: here is your answer as I fumed about this from day 1-
https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/threads/netbent-tftut-whats-the-point-of-this.61115/

Jurassic I can't comment on as never played it - read the book when it came out, half-way through realized it was written by Crichton with Hollywood in mind as it read like a corny American film script (which of course it later transpired was correct!) so hate it.

'Big WIn' animations, yes, the new IGT Cleopatra has this on 10x stake as do many of theirs, not big at all. MG have it on wins over 15x stake, again not big. The only software that has this right is WMS. Even Netent start their crap at 15x.

Yes, and customer service telling us it's OUR fault their server has a bottleneck and high traffic....

OK, my grumbles. TS2 you cannot get past the shitstorm. I check my balance, know what I've won BEFORE the graphic starts then have to sit a out a f*cking 1.5x stake pointless animation...:(
Same with IR.
St*rb*rst - just a game that should have been drowned at birth.
(S)Hitman - that irritating 'pick-me' feature...
Da Vinci Diamonds - try playing that on a laggy day.
Terminator 2 - not seeing the flames (which I never have!) and knowing you're going to sit through 10 spins of shite.
Moneyburst WMS games like Bruce Lee - the spin is over in just the 2x2 bit most times.

Any slot that has the balls to say Congratulations! You have won 0 coins! after a horrific "bonus game".

Lot's of Netents do that.....MG most of them just go back to the game on giving 0 in the features.....but WMS at least has few games with the 10x bet win guarantee....

Man I could totally fill up this thread with piles of stuff that drives me mad so I'll just put a few for now and maybe add to it after I've lost my deposit (again) later and in a more pissed off and sarcastic mind set which seems ideal for this thread :p

Agree with the T2 comments - both, oh look its that red shite again and no sign of a feckin scatter - here come my 0.10p's and 0.15p's great, oh a feature, oh bollocks cold mode again, get on with it you tw%t.

IR - reel one Sarah/Wild - reel two Sarah Wild (oooooo) reel 3 fucking scatter with Amber (so many times)

Playboy, (yes I can turn volume off but like to play most games with it on) has to have the most irritating soundtrack ever.

DOA - Screenies galore (look at my massive win) - yes my turn, here Jon have a wild on the last reel on the first spin and that's ya lot !

JATB - Finally 500 spins and I get 3 treasure boxes (which pay me fuck all) oh look not a key in sight - bollox

Go bananas - A monkey themed slot with no fucking monkeys - go figure

Wish Master - Click, lose, click, lose, click, lose (and why is it the biggest money guzzler at Netent seems to be the one which spins so fast with never any lag hmmmmm)

To be continued..... (unless I win later :p)

Haha yeah totally agree! I particularly hate the slots that force you to see every single line on which you got a win and how much it was before making the next spin. Particularly annoying when you get a wild followed by low paying symbols, it can eat up like 30 seconds before you get another spin on some autoplay games

I'm afraid that if I were to start listing (that's an ominous sign already) ALL the things about slots that annoy me......

then this post would be longer than all of vinyl's posts at CM put together.:eek:

Fuck me, what a frightening thought :eek2:

Oh well....at least the OP has given me something to do that will kill a few hours/days/weeks on this fine Easter Monday......
it might even be a welcome source of therapy :)

I'll be back with my "Rap Sheet" later.....;)

OK Most Playtech slots get on my tits!! I know they can pay really big wins but IMHO they are far and few between. Playtech should be renamed Taketech (takes all your money). Several of their slots have that stupid animation feature that cannot be skipped even for the fecking micro wins (Panther Moon springs to mind). Great Blue, Penguin Vacation and Irish Luck take hundreds of spins before they hit and the bonus round can either be awesome or crap. If they are crap then your toast unless you have started with a fairly high bankroll.

As for MG I hate with a passion GOT that slot has taken more of my cash than any other slot without giving anything back. It's surely capable of monster hits but I have seen one since it came out and I have played thousands and thousands of spins. So playing GOT = zero bank roll in about 5 minutes.

I also agree with all previous posts. Game developers should read this thread before designing new slots and maybe they will come out with a decent one.

Another handful of wind ups as promised

Jurassic Park - dum dum dum, yeah exciting music 'Extra Wilds' wooooo hoooooo, hang on a minute, just what extra fucking wilds are you talking out ere MG, should of gone to Specsavers

Any MG 9-Liner - I swear If I see 2OAK 9's, Hammers, Monkeys, Trucks, Spy Sunglasses etc etc again, fuck off and drop me a 5OAK!!!!

CFTBL - Go in the cabin and lock the door, should have done that the day before I discovered online gaming.

Untamed Series, Saved Wilds, 2 on each reel apart from one random reel which has 3 saved wilds, No prizes for guessing where the next wild symbol is dropping another payless 'wild wipeout' get the fuck in!!! - oh look it didn't nudge AGAIN  - A feature woohoooo, started and finished on 5x stake Christmas has come early again:D

Its funny because for me, I do really well the odd occasion I play Playtech but I do not like their games, whereas net-ent literally ra*es me for every penny I have near daily.

Not only can I not hit a bonus ever really with net-ent, when I do it pays between x4 and x15.

I am in one of the moods lately where I might take a year away from slots, I had some pretty amazing wins a month or so ago, but since I cannot get near one and I am not one to chase losses so I will probably stop!

I really like the MG game Leagues of Fortune and have had some great wins on it but...I can't stand when you get the chests for the free spin rounds and you have to watch the ship go by and the tentacles flapping around repeatedly to find out how many free spins you are getting. I have to exit game and go back in so it skips it and my free spins are waiting for me.

A lot of slots that I play have animation, but most are short enough not to bother me.....

But, there are several at 3Dice that drive me bonkers..... I think "StarStruck" is the absolute worse.

Yes, you can click on the screen and it will stop the animation and move on but, if you are playing on "auto" when you click on the screen it automatically stops the "auto-play".....

So, you have to start it over.

New players may be amused by the animation on many slots, but once that amusement is over..... it gets old ... fast!

The worst thing about the extra wilds is that it's the scatters that change into those wilds. So if you do happen to get 3 of the (single) extra wilds, that would have been your bonus round, had they not changed into wilds.
So now you'll probably have to wait another couple of hundred spins until 3 show up again.

Well I have learnt something today. I had no idea that was the case. So there's a total of 35 scatters in the game and
a total of 50 wilds during T-Rex Alert?

And yet....T-Rex alert is so bloody lame so bloody often.

I've just found out I hate all MG 243 liners that are themed on tv-series or movies. I think the casino takes 80% of the bet and and the Studio takes 19.999%. They are all impossible to win on.

That music feature on Ruby Slippers also suck, not to talk about Glinda when she teases you with a bubble bouncing off.

LOL annoying and thanks for the tip. I will do that next time to avoid all that tentacle flapping:p

I'd say it gets old after about 5 mins:D I wouldn't mind a big show animation for wins over 100x bet.

This is one that REALLY pisses me off:

When certain slots go out of their way to annoy you. I'm talking about Golden Shamrock and Secret Code in particular.
You get 3 scatters and have to pick one, revealing your free spins and multiplier. 99 times out of 100 you'll "pick" (like you really have a choice ffs) the worst of the lot.
Your pick will be 10 spins at 1x multiplier. And the others "would have been" 12 and 14, both at 2 or 3x multiplier.

Why do that?
It's not like it makes any difference other than to annoy me before my shitty bonus round begins. Why not let me think I got really lucky? Make the ones I didn't pick be really bad like 5 free spins at 1x multiplier

Psychological warfare and general mindfuckery mate. Always leave the player wanting/seeking/chasing/yearning for more. Always leave the player
believing that "there is something better out there", when in fact the opposite may be the case.

I'm fairly sure all of us have been guilty of chasing after something (and failing to catch it) a little longer than we probably should have.

Sure, sometimes we will get away with it and land a biggun'. Quite often though, we don't even land a small' un.

Let's face it, these slot makers know what they're doing. And we know that they know. Yet here we are, still chasing the seemingly uncatchable,
still believing the scarcely believeable, still thinking we can "wear a slot down", still believing that "it will take a turn for the better any minute now
and then I'm getting my ticket to winners row baby", still thinking that discipline can trump a house edge if you have enough stubborn pig-headed
bloodymindedness....and money. Gamblers fallacy is always close at hand. Some of us are smart enough to keep it at bay.

And then you have people like me lol. :o

I blame rolastan myself :p His freakish, almost out of this worldly luck on DOA (where he makes the rare event seem routine) has some of us
believing "if he can do it, then so can I".

And some of us do....but in considerably smaller doses. IF we're lucky.

PS I'm not jealous of rolastan, honest  :D

That's the thing though; the free spins are almost exclusively shite [on the games I mentioned] so I'd be left wanting more anyway. I just don't understand why NetEnt insist on making us feel like we've lost before the bonus game even starts. They could lure us into a false sense of security at least. I land 3 scatters and Secret Code says this to me:

"Ooooh! free spins at last.
You're not gonna win anyway.
Pick any one you want; they're all shite.
See? Haha
Let's spin some crap for you...

Dead spin.
Dead spin.
Oooh! Plus 2 to your multiplier, not that it matters :p
Dead spin.
20p yeeeeoooooo
Dead spin.
Tee hee hee
Dead spin.
40p and plus 3 to your multiplier but only 1 spin left ;)
Dead spin. Yeeeeooooo.
Now get outta here; you bother me"

And I'm like; WTF just happened? Was that it? THAT is what I just played 250 spins for?

I wholly agree with most of you here. CFTBL is probably one of the most annoying Slots with .. Congrats you won 0 coins and the useless feature animation. On most Slots these days its getting more and more difficult to hit anything substantial so they roll in the Cheap 'Big Win' hits. Cheap Psychology if you ask me. 15 x Bet is not a fucking big win - Get a life!

For me it has to be:

1) Loser Island from NetEnt - Pointless animation on the multipliers. It's like they want to torture their players with every dead spin. What can make me go insane is when NetEnt is on Rape mode - Try playing 5 Euros a spin and get endless blank spins and useless animation. After losing 500 Euros and getting pointless animation, blank spins and no feature you ask yourself WTF did I just do?

2) Muse from NetEnt - Same shit - Irritating animation. No way to stop it - you just must adhere to their torture.

3) Secret of the Stones - Like the others, Why on earth do I need to be subjected to a glistening scatter every time they fall? It delays the game, frustrates me and just makes me stay away from the game.

The whole purpose of having OPTIONS is to be able to disable their crap ideas. When it gets in the way of you enjoying your game then they need to rethink their approach. But then again, NetEnt listens to NOBODY - They will add useless animation to every new Slot they release only because their pay tables suck so bad. Something has got to delay your session to an extent that you think you had Good Game Time

Aliens: Taking like FOREVER to get to the Hive Feature, and then it's crap...
Sods law this!
For some reason, decided to have a bash at this tonight, and what do you know - after about 100-ish spins & upping my bet from 75c to €1.05 per spin I EASILY got to the hive with 2 clips of ammo to spare and already very close to bet x100.
Once in the hive I expected the same shite I've always had in the past - but THIS time it actually JUST got to the 3rd level (Bet x80)
Total win = bet x172.

With sods-law in mind.... ALL slots are TOTALLY CRAP! Do you hear me, slot gods? :p

BDBA - 2 scatters 2x bet, 3 or more scatters nothing. at least its copy Reel Steel give 100x for 5 scatters.
JATB - im paranoid or what? looking for clarification. i once played on mobile and 2 scatters in feature gave 2 more spins unlike PC version where 2 scatters give nothing. i played on mobile again since my laptop died and 2 scatters awarded nothing. :what: was this game modified or never awarded like i said and my mind plays with me?
Ruby Slippers when Glinda keep throwing bubbles and that moment when the third or fourth one almost touch the reel only to fly elsewhere. that is ruining all the fun if any for the entire day.
old MG 9-liners for behaving like retarded while is rotating the reels.
and all the slots that don't have quick spin forcing me to start-stop for a faster, usually dead conclusion of a session. these that don't permit start-stop are even worse and never got more than a try.

Well I've never played it on a mobile - but I would be totally gob-smacked if it were different to the PC version

Are you sure you're not getting it confused with Frankenstein?
On that one you DO get 5 extra spins for 2 scatters.
(Coincidentally I played Frank last night and got 2 scatters followed the very next spin by 3 scatters for 25 spins in total! Sadly it STILL just failed to make bet x100 - it only got to x98 :()

there's already a wealth of annoyances posted that i agree with, my latest one though is the speed of the Microgaming "Quick Spin" option, generally i prefer to play in quick spin at least i did on the previous releases, but the recent slots seemed to have turned the quick spin feature into instant spin, games such as Leprechauns Luck and Rabbit in the Hat are prime examples, not sure where it started but Got is fairly "instant" also

would be nice to have a configurable game speed such as thunderkick games, a little faster than default but not instant spin please microgaming :)

On the same theme, I don't like it when a game's quickspin speed is in fact no quicker than it's normal speed. TS2 on Quickfire
is one example that springs to mind. In sharp contrast to that, I absolutely love playing Avalon 2 and Jurassic Park on Quickfire
at normal speed. I have found them to be so much better on Quickfire than on MG download that I was pleasantly surprised.

One of my biggest gripes is why I ended up starting to play in quickspin mode in the first place....ridiculously long drawn out "heart stoppers".

If you get two scatters on the first two reels on games like BDBA and GWG2, it takes a ridiculous amount of time to finish the spin. I could play
about 10 spins of IR on quickspin in the time it takes those two games to spin the final 3 reels on a heart stopper. Seriously MG, cut the
f***ing crap with that pile of BS. It's bad enough even when you are running really good in a session, let alone when you're being starved of
features and watching your bankroll getting devoured at an alarming rate.

There is one other thing re: TS2 that I don't like. I like to play the base game at quickspin, simply because I find the game painfully slow
and boring when you haven't had a bonus round for over 300 spins. But the downside is, if I do play it at quickpsin speed, it means the bonus rounds play at quickspin speed too. That's a major drawback for someone who likes to see his bonus rounds play out at normal speed.

Apologies for using this thread for a quick moan but it does seem the most appropriate 'live' thread

Other MAJOR grips I have (especially recently)

You finally break a losing streak of maybe 4 weeks of entire gaming budget down the pan and hit a withdrawal of 1/2 a weeks budget then BANG the losing streak is back in full force, absolutely no idea what 2 scatters look like together, never mind 3!!!!

And then you get a nice 100% deposit match, every click is a lose and your just about to 'bust' and hit a lovely 230 x on Jurassic Park, play a few spins and decide to not push your luck and BOOM every other game is out to rape you without mercy

I'm far from a bad loser and if you were ever to meet me you'd think 'What a great guy :p:rolleyes:' but this last month has seen me reach boiling point on numerous occasions, arrghhhh

The positive in this post that despite the above I've not exceeded budget nor have I reversed anything when I have managed a small W/D :D

If only I could control my rage as well as I control my spending :eek::mad:

I'm afraid that if I were to start listing (that's an ominous sign already) ALL the things about slots that annoy me......

then this post would be longer than all of vinyl's posts at CM put together.:eek:

Fuck me, what a frightening thought :eek2:

Oh well....at least the OP has given me something to do that will kill a few hours/days/weeks on this fine Easter Monday......
it might even be a welcome source of therapy :)

I'll be back with my "Rap Sheet" later.....;)

Don't be ridiculous:p

If you lined up all the characters in all of my CM posts, they would stretch from the Earth to ______________________.?

I really hate the 'max bet' button that is on practically every slot.

I don't like to auto play and too many times I am 'in the clicking' zone and abusing my mouse that sometimes I slip up and hit the max bet button by accident. Of course I never win on that bet - like EVER. I wish they would just remove it or at least move it away from the spin button because uncoordinated people like me will always click it by accident every now and then. I never max bet EVER so its absolutely pointless for me.

Wish there was an option to turn it off for every slot that has it next to the spin button!

I completely agree with this..

More than once I have been up to around £100 on a £1 bet then accidentally pressed bet max and seen 45 quid blown instantly..

Totally agree - Think with the MG games they've sorted this already, on the newer games which open in a new window rather than a tab (Jurassic Park, GOT, PlayBoy etc) (referring to Download casino in the main) there is no Max button as I've fell foul of this numerous times and only ever once has it paid off (£460 on old LOTR on £6 bet!!) Netent button is defo too close, can't comment on other providers as I don't play them :D
