Has triple 7s blackjack quietly been canned and the jackpot pocketed by microgaming?

Couldn't find it anymore in any casino.

I had some communication with Ed Ware of 32Red a few months ago because the game was buggy, it kept crashing. He told me that MG were working on fixing the bug and that it should be fixed around 8th May this year. I think the game disappeared from the casinos shortly after this. It might have been something to do with the bug which caused the game to crash regularly.

According to Slotcharts the jackpot is still going up:

But I think this may be incorrect because the hit history shows it hitting every 10-15 minutes throughout the day! Perhaps this is what happens when a game is removed and the feed gets messed up.

According to my records, Triple Sevens was last hit around midnight (GMT) on March 15/16. It's been rising steadily since then.

If the URL above gets snipped for some reason, just go to the jackpot site in my signature, click on Microgaming, then click on Triple Sevens to see the hit history.

If the game is actually missing from all Microgaming casinos, I wonder why Microgaming is continuing to allow the jackpot to climb?

Dave, is it possible to set your graphs to show the jackpot over 6 months (for example)?

The rate of increase of jackpot changed significantly sometime in April or May. This used to show up on the slotcharts graph but I can't get the yearly graph to load there, only the 90-day. So I can't see this change anymore. I believe the change in rate conincides with the withdrawal of the game.

If the game has been missing this long, how could it possibly be climbing in the jackpot amount...that doesn't even make any sense? It should only be climbing if it is being played.

Well, if you take a table progressive game like Cyberstud progressive, you'll see that the jackpot ticker increase roughly 1c every 3s (that happens when noone's playing the game, see MG Poker Bad Beat tables when no one's playing) - that's ~300$/day , potientally explaining the slow increase of the triple seven JP , even while being retired from play.

You're right! Something did change on May 18.

I don't have a way to quickly adjust the graphs on my site, so I went into the database, pulled the numbers, and slapped this together in Excel:

I believe Microgaming feeds the jackpots by some default amount each minute.

If you look at the graphs, you'll see some that are "wavy," while others have a flat edge (meaning they've been rising at exactly the same amount each hour).

Cash Splash and Lotsaloot, for example, are somewhat wavy right now. This happens because the jackpot is increasing faster than the default rate each minute -- i.e. enough people are playing the game so that the jackpot rises faster than Microgaming's default rate.

When Mega Moolah was in the $5 million range, that graph was wavy. Now that it's back to $1 million, not as many people are playing it, so the the waves are gone. When the graph was wavy, it would rise faster in the evening, and then as people went to bed and stopped contributing, the graph would nearly level off until the next night. :D

The default is 1 cent per second... so I would guess that if it is unable to retrieve fresh data, it will just continue to go up at 1 cent per second.

That would be $36 an hour, or $864 a day - does that correspond with your graph?

Before May 18, yes. After May 18, it seems to grow at 1/5 the rate. The change in the last 5 days is $864.

Now, instead of $36 per hour, the going rate is a little more than $7 per hour -- much like the salary of someone who lost their fancy office job and took a job at McDonald's. :)

So have we got a ghostpot here? A phantom jackpot rising daily deep in the bowels of Microgaming towers?

This sounds like a job for VinylWeatherMan :).

I'll set my motley crew on it as soon as I have time:D

This is a potential PR disaster for MGS. It seems a few casinos have removed progressive jackpots for perfectly legitimate reasons, but have FAILED to keep players in the loop, fuelling speculation of foul play because of the ROGUE casinos that really HAVE stolen players' funds from progressive pools.

Had MGS been telling the truth about this being a matter of a buggy game, they should have resolved this long ago, and the game should be back. MGS have not indicated whether they have now decided the effort not worth it (low amount of play maybe), and have canned plans to return the game. If this is so, what happened to the progressive - did they dump it all into Treasure Ireland;) :D:D:D

I asked Ed Ware (32Red) about this and apparantly the game is coming back next week complete with it's progressive jackpot. I presume taking it offline had something to do with the bugs in the game back in April/May when I last had a go at playing it.

Still no sign of this game at the MG casinos I play at. Does it exist anywhere and if not where did the jackpot go?
