Hi
Just a quick question

How large is the full download of a Microgaming casino ? I ditched one casino and gave up downloading it, now I've changed to another MG and it's updating the old one.
So far the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\MGS is 5.50 Gb
I'm limited to how much I can download each month so it would be useful to know. Hopefully it's not much bigger so I can back it up and compress it onto a DVD just in case.

Thanks

Hi there, my MG installation is about 7.5 Gb. Thats for two casinos. I think most files are shared between them though.

There shouldn't be any old files or trash in the folders, as both casinos were installed a few days ago after a full re-install of Win7.

The size doesn't bother me as I just leave it for the night, and its done in the morning. I don't have any restrictions on usage though.

I think Royal Joker is about 255 mg, but I could be wrong. If you have a free download period install then. I'm on a satellite connection and often exceed my fair access policy, so I try to do all my larger downloads during my free period.

One thing I've never understood on my computers is the size stated in the "Add or Remove Programs" folder.
e.g. This shows 4 Playtech casinos all being VASTLY bigger than 2 MG casinos - this can't be right, can it?

I think it depends on the game sizes (i.e. different game features... like Rivals (fug) the one St. Patrick's day game where there are multiple bonus rounds you can choose from). Although, it's weird, because I always assumed MG had more games than most of the other casino platforms, that automatically download even if you can't play them or don't want them. I had several RTG casinos (before I ditched them all) that were larger than Royal Joker. And I seem to recall 3Dice was a larger casino file once all the games were loaded.
So, I guess I didn't really help in answering your question...sorry!

LOL!

All the programs installed on KK's computer are casinos!:thumbsup:

Back on topic, my C:\ProgramData\MGS folder on a Win7 computer is 7.35GB, dunno how many casinos that sums up though. :)

Thanks all
So I'm looking at about 7.5Gb, Yikes!

Nope, I think for MG the size there is the casino itself, the games folder doesn't get uninstalled ?

The new lobby has vastly increased the size of MG casinos. Most files are shared in a common folder, and this is what is showing as 7.5Gbytes. Things are only going to get worse though, and AussieDave posted a while back that a mere MONTHLY UPDATE blew his MONTHLY download cap. Whilst hard drives have no trouble with this amount of data, internet connections DO. The problem is that players ARE NOT TOLD how much bandwidth is going to be used, and thus end up violating download caps & fair use terms without knowing why. This leads either to huge bills, or throttling of the connection.

MGS are not user friendly in this respect, the user has no power to configure the software to take account of their own ISP's restrictions. There is also the matter of the constant and seemingly unnecessary re-downloading of EXISTING games without notice, which could mean a 7.5Gbyte usage could be quickly followed by ANOTHER huge bandwidth usage.

Even here in the UK, there are STILL broadband services with caps as little as 2Gbytes per month, and there is no way such users can EVER play MGS, as the updates alone would exceed their cap every month. Other services come with 40Gbytes a month, often considered "unlimited" by the ISP's when quoted in advertising, yet a small suite of MGS casinos are now in danger of blowing even this level of cap.

Thunderstruck II ALONE is reported to be in excess of 1 Gig, and this is ONE GAME. New slot games such as this are likely to be similar in size, and every month sees 2-3 new games released.
