I have always done this myself. It shouldn't be necessary (especially as I haven't won a decent amount from a casino in years!) but it does make sense to copy front and back and edit out the unnecessary digits but keep the original copy too. This happens not uncommonly nowadays.This is why players should be advised to scan front-back of every card they use for gambling and keep them in a KYC folder along with an up-to-date bill and ID scan. Make the verification process simpler every time.
Especially, as people have mentioned, given that the banks tell you to destroy expired cards when new ones arrive.
