Leo Vegas Fined

Quite rightly so, where the hell do casinos get the idea that they can take deposits from excluded players, remove there accounts and funds and not even return there deposits?? Idiots.

I can see that excluded players would maybe do it on purpose to try and get a win and if they dont can play the "but im excluded give me my money back card" but it should be down to the casino to stop them from depositing in the first place.

But like that member that posted the other day where he was excluded at a sister site and then they closed his account, took his winnings and even refused his deposits back its just sickening.

Self exclude should only apply to the casino you did it on IMO as realistically a player should not be expected to follow and investigate currently who owns who on each casino they join or play on.

The industry is corrupted and filled with scammers. Some time ago i had a "malfunction" on golden monkey from yggdrasil and complained, they said nothing was wrong... ofc. But i was streaming so i had recorded it and posted it on youtube. Ooops they backed up and admitted it was a mistake and compensated me. Yesterday i played on superlenny, reactoonz from playngo. I hit the gargatoon and on the 2 medium ones they connected 15+ with a square 2x. It made the sound of huge win.. and then oops music gone and it pops a "10x". I was like wait, i should have got 75x2 for 150x win? I instantly contacted superlenny support about it and they said they would ask playngo and come back to me. OF COURSE, they did exactly like yggdrasil and said "nah nothing wrong here's the proof" and they sent me some excel spreadsheet drawings of my win showing a screen different than what i had. Sadly for me, this time i was offstream and wasn't recording so what can i do now? Just take it, be screwed off again and let them win? And i mean seriously excel drawings? I think im done streaming and playing casinos. I have enough, when you need to record and save all your play to have it on hand everytime the providers/casinos screw you... wtf.

In my opinion here we have two possibilities. Either it's common business from provider and casinos to have "bugs" that screw up players to make more money on the side or there was a malfunction with the rng/server and it was supposed to pay me 10x but showed me a screen that would've paid 150x. Being replied something like that "sorry there was most likely a malfunction and you were shown something different than you should have, we are sorry for the inconvenience here are some free spins on the house" i would've taken it better but being told, "nah you win 10x here is a drawing we did during lunch time that shows your win bye" fak off really. I just wish there is some kind of justice in the world and these guys someday will get the karma they derseve.

serious stuff indeed, accredited standards
Must offer and enforce spending limits in addition to both temporary and permanent self exclusion options.

They are accredit casino here too. I'm not sure if Bryan has read the thread or not.

This is the casino who said that it was normal that I lost 8000€ in average each month. Oh, how stupid I was listening to them and get tickled to play more when they gave me small free bonuses to trigger my playing lust :eek2:
I read an article with an anonomys guy who had worked as a VIP manager in a well known casino for Norwegian market, and how they targeted the biggest spenders with very very unethical methods. No surprise if it was Leovegas he had worked for.

Hi,

Taking the risk to shock some people here, I have to say I am a bit confused by the feedback I read on this topic - either I misunderstand the gravity of the situation or maybe the article is misleading about its real content. I don't know what is behind the fine of LeoVegas exactly and that is only my personal interpretation. Reading the article, I understand that:

- There is no mention of them failing to enforce the self-exclusion of their customers during the period of the self-exclusion, or any spending limits. It says that they didn't respect the 24h cooldown at the account reopening (When a player requests the reopening of his account after 6 months or 3 years when the self-exclusion ends, the operator is supposed to freeze the request for 24h to give the player the time to think twice and maybe reconsider the reopening request)
While this represents an undeniable point of non conformity, it does not mean that the operator has accepted deposits/bets of excluded players like the article title so subtly implies. It means they reopened the account right away at player's request once the self-exclusion period was over, without waiting the 24h. If they really had accepted 200K bets of self-excluded players within two months, I would expect the fine to be much more salty than 600K.

- It also says that the operator didn't return the funds back to 11,205 customers (when a player sets his account in self-exclusion the operator has the duty to contact the player to return him the funds remaining on the balance) for a total amount of £14,000. So an average £1.25 remaining per player was not returned - probably more for some, less for some, since it's an average. It doesn't state they refused to refund upon player request, didn't state they removed the money from the player balances and kept it for themselves. I suppose (purely a guess here) they considered the amount too low to be worth making a transfer (because fees would have been deducted anyway) and they let it for when/if the player comes back.

- I cannot say anything about the misleading adverts as it is not enough detailed really. Wording like "Double your deposit" is now considered as misleading and is in the radar of the authority so it is hard to know how "severe" the misleading of the ads were. Failing to mention that a bonus can only be played with maximum bet of £0.50, or having a banner that says "Register now to get your welcome offer" would both be non compliant. Although as a player I would be more concerned by the first scenario than the second. I couldn't find anywhere more information about the kind of misleading they were blamed for.

They probably deserve the fine they got, since they failed to be compliant - and undoubtedly more operators will follow since it's the harvest season and the UKGC is working at putting operators back in line.
For a big company like LeoVegas, this 600K fine seems like a slap on the wrist to me. Despite the attempt of the article to make it look dramatic, it doesn't seem to highlight any point of non-compliance that would really concern me as a player. Although maybe I underestimate how important this 24h cooldown procedure is for people with gambling issues when they return, or the non refund of £1.25 to a player who chose to self-exclude and if so I'm certainly curious to hear about your thoughts.

Regards
