Sorry if my posts have been kind of loopy. I have been on morphine. I was going over pictures. I cant believe how 4 months can make a difference :( 14481822_10154552755386506_1054957940687250700_o.webp..........DSCN7538.webp

It was great to hear your uplifting post of relief they'd excised the growth - sorry about the pain afterwards but that's the biggest and hopefully worst hurdle over with. You're on the way up the hill now and our best wishes walk with you.

I'm feeling a bit better today :). I had a best friend of 30 years die of cancer, I saw what chemo did. It was horrible. Now having said that. THE TUMOR IS OUT OF ME!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO! I cant believe that part of this journey is finally over. It seems so surreal and hard to believe it has only been 2 months. The health care system here sucks big time. When I got to second recovery room, they were pushing me out the door. I couldnt even stand, I was all woozy, and the nurse was trying to get my tights on. I kept saying to her, slow down, Im going to throw up. She had one hand on a bed pan and another pulling the tights up. At least she was efficient in her rushing. My family doctor called yesterday, the hospital was suppose to set me up with home care, and they didnt, plus only sent me home with two dressing pads. So I have to see my GP this aft, so she can look and clean me up properly. For some reason I thought I would have my results the same day, but I have to wait until next Wed, post-op. Ok, that is enough of my bitching, lol. Its out of me, and heres hoping it hasnt spread :)

I am so sorry. I didnt ask how your friend is doing?

I have just worked it out. In one your not wearing glasses.

As far as those who know you not showing their thoughts goes. In my experience it is not due to lack of care but due to not knowing what to say and being able to continue knowing what to say after you respond. That is very shitty. I found it hard just to type this without thinking carefully!

Nooooooo. Never be afraid to say anything to me! Lol, I am probably one of the most easy going people ( person?) cant be grammatically correct at the moment. I make jokes at my expense. And as far as anyone else that is sick, I'm assuming the same. Never be afraid to ask. I usually dont have a filter on my mouth. I just......tell it! I thought I knew about Breast cancer, even said if I was going to get cancer, that is the one I would chose. Silly me, right? It is a very complicated disease with so many variables that no one could possibly know unless you have it. I have a friend since I was 13 that was a huge part of everything in my life. She is very forthright too, she hasn't said boo..not a simple sorry to hear. Those three words can go a long way. I was really upset at first, infact furious, but I will say this, and I will not waiver on this. Society in Canada at least will go out of their way in helping what is politically correct. Millions of dollars are spent in helping refugees come into our country. I have no qualms on that, they need a safe place to live, but I do have a problem with lack of medical funding for all types of cancer in this country. The Canadian Cancer Society gets unfathomable amount through donations and grants, and where is it going? The only service they provide is free rides to treatments and its all volunteers that drive. I left the hospital with 2 packs of dressing. Two! That is all I was allowed, and I have two areas that need changing. Ensure drinks, special foods because now you cant eat a shit load of ' normal' food. Loss of wages and if you are lucky enough to have insurance then there is a cap. I have talked to people here that pay close to 200k a month on medication. People have lost their homes. Its absolutely crazy! No one should ever have to start a fundraiser just to get through this. I live in a small city of 96k, and in 2015 , 3k women from here were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Wtf? for that demographic, that needs to be looked at. I googled for two days looking for funding here, I only found one place that will help and due to the demand, its a very small amount and hit and miss. Lol. Sorry for my rant, but please never be afraid to writeor ask what you feel! :p And thanks about the pictures. The first one was in September, the second one was last night. I put my glasses on because I have brown circles around my eyes. I refused to see what this has done in such a very short time, I finally got brave and took a picture.

Hi everyone. I have received 2 disconnect notices, Thursday and Friday. I am feeling a bit better today so I am asking all my friends on Facebook, Twitter and here to PLEASE do a massive share. My original target was 3k, and I have raised 1440.00. I need to raise another thousand more by the end of this week and then I am closing it down. I feel very blessed that everyone has stepped up, but I should be all caught up bill wise and should be fine. I am slated to go back to work May 1st, and I intend to do exactly that, even with treatments. So if you could please share. Bryan, thank you for allowing this, and everyone that donated.Thank you! I really hope good things have came your way <3

As bebo is also from Ontario Canada I can attest and feel really bad for her as it is horrible the healthcare system here. The Americans and Trump can say oh they have free healtchcare, ahhh well no it's not free moreso now since cuts have taken over, Last time I know which was years ago you had to pay $80 if you needed a ambulance and wait times for everything.

Than as bebo said insurance companies, Oh my f!@# is that more stress and as bebo said their is caps to coverage and only a percentage of your wages.

I hope you make it through everything the best you can bebo.

I will be writing a series of articles when I am feeling better. There is so much that needs to change, I just have to figure out how I am going to tackle it, so that everything falls in sequence. Trust me, I won't stay quiet on it. Last months hydro bill came in, and even with the 8% taken off, it was almost double. Same with my Gas bill. I had to send my daughter back to Guelph on Friday because I can't afford to keep her here. The lack of funding and support for Cancer patients in this province is mind boggling! I checked each province and for our size there should be NO reason for this.

If anyone is curious in what it looks like, I posted a picture on my GOFund me page. Don't worry, nothing is showing that shouldn't be. I could only get a partial picture. But in a weird kind of way, I'm kind of proud of myself . Never be ashamed of your battles :)

Bloody hell. So out of a population of 96k I presume half are female. In one year 3k where diagnosed with Breast Cancer? Are you surrounded by Fracking or some other kind of pollutants?

I am not really understanding why your closing it down so quickly?

No, no fracking, but here is something interesting. A friend of mine lives in the neighboring town that shares the same water bed. He just finished a two or more year court battle, he started a citizens group because a company was using a certain fertilizer on their crops and it was getting in the water. That same company also own one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies that makes cancer medication. They just finished up last week in court, and the final decision should be anytime now. I just woke up but I will find some articles and post later.

I need to get back to work. I cant afford this. Originally she put me down until May 1st, I figured April 1st, and just go through treatments. Even with cutting expenses back, I cant expect to live off donations and have to have others support me. Those 2 disconnect notices put me in a bad place. I just want it to be over. Sorry if I dont make sense. I just woke up. I really need normal so bad.

Okay, I'm awake now. In a nutshell, I hate having to rely on handouts. I want to have a normal life, and in reality that probably happen for a while. I finally went outside today and walked the length of my driveway. I did that for about 15 min. I had to stop about 5x's and then fell asleep. The surgery was quite invasive. I had a friend who commented on my facebook yesterday that I should take my page down and get back to work. She had breast reduction surgery and went back to work, therefor so should I. At first I was speechless, because I couldnt register what she was saying. Then I got furious! I have since deleted her, but that was what made me post the picture. And she is a PSW. I don't understand cruelty, I never have and never will.

Don't make the mistake of going back too early. Will your work allow you too? And I still see no reason why you should shut it down even if you do go back early. Leave it until your able to get by like before

She was probably trying to say that bust reduction and having a cancer tumour removed are the same surgical incisions. Insensitive as it is, people think they are being helpful and encouraging by making such statements. When you have cancer though I think you are allowed to do, feel and say whatever you want.... It's like a carte Blanche.. so good on you for deleting her.

Hi Jennifer,

We hope that everything is going well for you and that you are having a speedy recovery. We left you a donation and we hope it will help you.

All the best wishes from the Videoslots family.

Made me want to cry - Ive given what I can but its not much, but this will help Jennifer sooo much . Thats so very generous

Hi everyone. I came down with a bad cold and have been spending most of the time sleeping. Make you want to cry? I am crying. Dan, your donation literally saved my butt from a disconnection! Everyones kindness, no matter the size of the donation has been unbelievable. I really wish there was something I could do for everyone, I really do. Some of you may not believe in God and that is fine, but , man I cant stop crying. God has been part of my life for 42 years. hE HAS HAD MY BACK WHEN i WAS A HOMELESS TEEN, when I saw an attempted murder. There has been so much in my life that would blow most people away. I kept going though. I never stopped. I have never seen so much caring as I have from you guys. Its overwhelming. Tomorrow I find out my results.

My tears are of gratitude and happiness. I wish there was more I could say. Thank you!

It's a couple hours later and I want to say sorry for my blubbering, I am embarrassed now. This virus/ cold is knocking the crap out of me, and missing some lymph nodes isnt helping I am sure. Wish me luck tomorrow and that it hasnt spread! Nice to see you Jazzy! Saying hello to Barb too :)

Its going to be a longgggggg sleepless night. Tomorrow morning at 9, I will have lymph node results. I wish I was a drinker, lol. Ughhhh! Night folks, Im off to watch netflix. I have watched 3 years of Law and Order in two weeks!

Your story touches me Jennifer, and so does this thread. So much love!

I feel privileged to live in a kinder society than Canada appears to be.

Go fight this, girl, you can do it

I have been back for over an hour, trying to absorb what everything means. I have clear margins, which is GREAT news! He took 4 lymph nodes out and one tested positive for a microscopic amount of cells, but the other 3 were clear. Good news mixed in with some bad , that unfortunately puts me at stage 3. He was quite confident he got everything out. Now I have to wait to hear from the cancer centre. I have no idea what they will end up doing. It could mean more lymph nodes need to be taken out, it could mean chemo,. I just want this to end. If chemo only reduces my risk by a small amount, do I opt out and only take radiation? Doing a full auxiliary biopsy comes with high risks too. Did I say I want this to end? lol. Ughhh! I should be flipping this all over and saying woohoo, it's out. But I am afraid to be happy, to get excited. This whole thing has been traumatizing, Cancer is a piece of s**t that can not be trusted. I cant believe how quick it had spread.

QueenBee I take exception to this comment. I for one have a family that has run amok of cancer --my Dad, my Grandfather, my cousin who was 46 years old and now her sister who also has a brain tumour at the age of 59. I do volunteer work for a wonderful organization -- the Terry Fox Run and have done so for about 6 years now. I always sponsor my friends and family in all types of runs, fundraising, etc. Unfortunately, there is not a limitless amount of funds that I can donate. I probably limit my gambling to about 10% of available funds which is a lot less then most people here so I do not spend my money foolishly.

Having said that Jennifer I wish you the best of luck and apologize that I cannot contribute to your cause. I know this is a difficult road.

QueenBee -- we are a kind people. Honestly.

I don't think it was that way she meant. They have a similar system as we do. We almost don't pay anything for medication or hospital visits, and we have insurance though the high taxes. So we have a kinder system to those who get sick. Not perfect these days but way way better.

Thanks Sara. Our system also covers hospital visits, surgeries, etc. Cancer medication is also covered. I think that Jennifer's plight is the lack of financial help if you are unable to work and relying on mediocre unemployment insurance benefits to pay your rent, etc.

We have a fairly good system as well compared to the U.S.

Ok, good to hear that you're able to survive too. We do compare you to US a bit too much sometimes :)

OK, I am being cautiously optimistic here for you. From my personal understanding the Lymph Nodes are the first place migrating cells collect before doing their evil further afield in the body. It sounds as though this had literally just started, by what you said. Which makes me feel they found it just at the right time. As for treatment, I feel hopeless saying things as I really don't know. Do you think sometimes of the full blitz now to strike while the iron is hot, i.e. other LN's plus some Chemo, i.e. go for the full assault that should win the battle? Or are, as you inferred, tempted to try the more measured approach?

I know it will be unpleasant but if I was holding your hand now, you were my relative, I'd not want this sucker cancer to get an even break from you.

Shit, this is so awkward to type to somebody else; I don't know if I've expressed this properly or imparted my desire that you beat this bastard with everything you've got but I'm willing you to do so. From what I've read I feel optimistic too, and I hope you do. x

I know right? It is all so mind boggling. There is other variables that come into play too, and that is my hormone receptors, but I wont get those results for another few weeks. Also they missed this on a mammo that was done in July. I saw that mammo last month with a new one they did with contrast. The mammo in July looks like a cyst with no cells showing, the contrast one showed cells outside the tumor. So in 6 months it had morphed! I know it's gone now, but begs the question , am I high risk for it coming back? We arent Doctors, but I firmly believe that some people are forced to take chemo when they don't need to. And my staples are out. YAY!! I can move better now, there is still stiches which will dissolve and steri strips. :)

I don't think its so much our country as it is our Province. Ontario's healthcare system is severely flawed, esp the city I live in.

happy to hear this news today.....sounds like you are on your way to beating this motherf#%^^

Still not liking the chemo thing. Hopefully that will be avoided. I am going in armed when I see the Oncologist. And I love your name for it! hahahaha. I've called it worse ;) The writer in me, pictures this living amoeba, and my tumor was its food source, and it was multiplying like cockroaches. Little babies were drifting over to my lymph nodes. :eek2:

I am truly sorry for this misunderstanding. I was talking about the healthcare and social security system. Which I shouldn't be, as I don't really know enough about it.
Of course you are a kind people. Doing volunteer work and making private donations is not common where I live, and I can't even say that I do it myself.

Sorry for the derail

I do not know you Jennifer but after reading your thread I admire you and all that you shall continue to endure by this damned Cancer , I will try to donate and am also sending you a virtual cup of coffee or tea.....................Kick ass and " FIGHT LIKE A GIRL" my friend in Christ !405aa9efaee8db16c0fa5eb985bc9bf5 cancer kicked ass.webp

Taking a big breath. Cancer centre called, I will be meeting my oncology team next Thursday. I have to go for a few tests to make sure it hasn't spread in the rest of my body ( nerve racking) and then we will start a treatment plan. This is where I will be going.

Hi everyone. I just read a few posts and I want to clarify what is actually covered in Ontario Canada, myself specifically. I have an online publishing company. I do eBooks and print, you can find me @ www.yorkpublishinghous.com. Business was doing horrible so I went and got a ' real" job at Rogers, which I started Jan 3rd of this year. This would help pay my bills and also keep my marketing costs afloat. I am not eligible for work benefits until July, I am thankful I was able to get a leave of absence and keep my job. OHIP covers in hospital stuff, It does NOT cover cancer medications unless its done at the hospital. I have gone to Social Services and they have agreed to give me 950 a month, which I have to pay back. I have to pay for my ensure drinks, out of pocket. I have had to pay for my medical supplies, drain collector, srynge, my dressings. tape. I dont know yet how much tamoxifen is yet. That stuff isnt covered. Yes it is a loss of wages, but it so much more.
Here is information

I hope this clarifies everything, and if anyone has questions please do not hesitate to ask.........me

Thanks everyone for the help that has been provided

Jen............ I am even going to take it one step further and give you a breakdown of where the money has gone so far. Keep in mind that I have received 950 from Social Assistance this month, and my rent is 1200. I
1) Ensure: 400
2) part of rent, 250
3) Hydro, 350
4) Gas 150
5) Gauze, bandages, dressing, srynge30
6)Transportation: 200 ( hopefully will start being covered soon)
7) Water, bill, phone, internet. 400
8) Groceries
9) fees for GoFund me , just a little over 100. The donations are helping and have been a godsend :)
I have been able to gain 7 lbs so far, so that now puts me up to 117lbs

6)Transportation: 200 ( hopefully will start being covered soon)
7) Water, bill, phone, internet. 400

Jennifer. Your statements are a bit misleading. Cancer medication IS covered. You do need to go to the clinic for the chemo or radiation but I am sure that is in the case of most countries. My cousin who is battling cancer, is taking oral chemo so she does not need to go to the hospital, however, it is totally funded by OHIP. Now of course there are medications that are not approved by the province so you would have to pay out of pocket. My Dad had gotten so advanced and the only hope of extending his life was Avastan and the side effects were horrible. This was not covered by OHIP but I do not think we would have tried this if his quality of life really deteriorated.

I do not understand your expenses. We are a family of 4 and our hydro averages about $200 a month. Water phone internet and cellphones are below $400 a month and that is for 3 cellphones and all the premium channels such as HBO. So, I do not understand these exageraged expenses.

Sorry, but you know me. I cannot keep my mouth shut.

Well Barb I do not exaggerate. There are a lot of variables why one persons hydro is going to be cheaper then anothers. Mine almost doubled since January's price increase. As far as water, internet , phone. My bill is 200 a month for each, water billed every other month. I was going to get angry at your presumption, but I wont turn this thread into that. I see you for the last few years getting angry over things very easy and also presume a lot. I am very transparent and have nothing to hide. I know that OHIP use to cover a lot, and I posted what OHIP does cover. I do not have insurance, but hey I will soon find out. You have a great day and I hope that you find some balance of happiness :)

I don't really get annoyed, but can't help it this time. Seriously, what the fuck was that supposed to mean?

That must be the most heartless thing I read in a very long time, and absolutely uncalled for. Do you think this lady is buying new fancy shoes twice a week with the GoFunds?

Jennifer, stay strong and I wish you all the best!
