I think Obama has something to worry about now. A wise move on McCains part. She is just awesome. :)
.......you can bet molly that the obama camp didnt have clue that this was comming in from out of the left feild!!! im just in awe :D a possable madame vice president, i loved the fact that she thanked geraldine f. and hillary c. both democrats for paving the way for other women to serve the american public in politics, very classy and humble at the same time i.m.o..............laurie

Discussing her credentials as vice-president, a Republican in Alaska said: "She's old enough. She's a US citizen."

In addition to her conservative social views, sportiness and raising five children, Mrs Palin, 44, is presented by Mr McCain as a fellow maverick and reformer and will be celebrated as such this week at the Republican National Convention, where she is due to accept formally her nomination on Wednesday...............................who isnt perfect? i would imagine she and her family will be picked to peices by the press and obama camp and others who prolly dont even VOTE !!!!

Yes, but there are some legitimate concerns that are being raised.....Definitely not worth sweeping under the carpet...

I vote, so no worries :)

ps: I agree that age has nothing to do with being qualified or not....

Insider Tidbit .....

Ms. Palin is no Saint, and certainly cannot claim the moral "high ground". If the necessary legwork is done and public records are accessed, both Palin and McCain are doomed. Did you know that the Alaska Permanent Fund has lost millions on bad investment in the UBS fiasco? I find it interesting that this fact has never been made public, even in the AK papers. I wondered why this wasn't being made public, and now I know why. UBS is ran by one of McCain's best buddies, Phil Gramm, from whom McCain has been trying to distance himself from the past few weeks. It's not just because Gramm thinks all Americans are a bunch of "whiners". Now Palin has silenced the state's commissioners in hiding these permanent fund losses so the Republicans don't get yet another black eye. This is true and will/should come out. In case you think I am some bleeding heart liberal, think again. I just don't like people stealing and getting away with it.

When a candidate enters public life - and especially in US politics - it's in the certain knowledge that they are going to be minutely examined by the media and by their political opponents, who will make the most of every fault, or even suggestion or rumour of a fault.

I'm sure Governor Palin is, as are all politicians, aware of that.

No more personal privacy in fact.

We're going to hear a helluva lot of this sort of negative politicking back and forth from now through November and probably beyond, and kept within fair limits that's not necessarily a bad thing i.m.o. because it keeps politicians on their toes and occasionally gets rid of the really crooked bastards.

In some countries politicians are able to get away with murder because the media is shackled and/or one political party is too dominant and controls too much. Count yourselves fortunate to live in a real democracy for all its flaws.

In South Africa for example the heir apparent to the Presidency is under serious charges of fraud, corruption, money laundering and tax evasion, yet his hugely dominant party allows him to continue as their chief, and there's a good chance that he will become president of the country.

In most developed democracies such an individual would have been compelled by his party to resign at least until cleared in a court of law, but here his party and its political allies are seriously demanding that all charges be dropped in the interests of a stable country, with the allied Communist party actually hinting that it may try to make the country ungovernable through the behaviour of its members - the word "anarchy" was used.

So be grateful for a strong opposition - no matter which party - to keep whoever is in power looking over their shoulder and within the constraints of the constitution; respecting the judiciary and the right of the electorate to know what the hell is going on.

As to being a newbie - I can recall the surprise of many non-Americans when the likes of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton suddenly appeared to arrive on the political scene. I guess better and wider media coverage has now ensured these developmentrs are more closely watched - the present American electoral moves most certainly are, and it's a fascinating spectacle for an outsider to observe.

Remember when David Cameron took the leadership of the Conservative opposition party in the UK? I can recall him saying that he wanted an end to what he called "Punch and Judy" politics, yet in no time at all he was in there attacking an arguing with the best of them.

That's what oppositions do, and I think that, like strong commercial competition, it's a necessary evil to keep everyone on the ball and corruption at the minimum possible.

Yep McCain had to throw a Hail Mary or I guess a Hail Sarah!!!

Nixon prolly has a better chance than McCain even now!!
Just too damn stiff!!

^ McCain's aide trying to defend Palin and her lack of experience, but yet dodges the question throughout...lol

If you're thinking of voting for McCain, ask yourself this question: Would you really want Palin leading the country WHEN McCain has to step down for medical reasons (skin cancer treatment, heart attack, etc?)

Laurie, are you smoking some good weed this morning or what ?

Palin cannot even keep up with what the hell is going on in her 17 year old daughters life while she is getting knocked up as a kid...where was that mother/daughter relationship when it was really needed...

She herself has a newborn baby at the age of 44, you know that one was not planned and was an accident...(Not good at Forward planning) why else the great age gap between kids...when Palin's newborn is graduating high school, Palin herself will be 62 or 63...:eek2:

And you really want her running and managing our country...also she is against a womans right to choose, you of all people, I really thought that you would want women to be able to make their own choices regarding this !!

sorry rob, no weed today for me:D i am pro life, except in cases of rape and incest and under age minors(and yes the parent should know) or if the mothers life is at risk, this is just my thought but there are so many childless couples that would love to adopt a child, im a firm believer if a woman does not use some sort of birth control and gets pregnant she shouldnt be able to run in and out of a abortion clinic like a revolving door.i also think that we should be drilling for oil on our own soil and not relying on the middle east(more jobs for americans).i believe that all illegals who are in this country need to be sent back and come thru the door the way that so many others have(more jobs for americans). i believe that there is no such promise as free health care and free university education, who will pay for this? borrow more money from china? you , me and everyone else pay for it!! i think something better should be in place to help the poor, disabled and most of all the elderly, do you realize there may not be social security for you or i or our grandchildren in the future? i also want our troops home, im tired of seeing our men and woman dying, the time has come to bring them home NOW!!!, i want better for america, where we used to be looked upon with respect and not spit on or our flags burned in the streets, that flag may just be a peice of cloth to some but to me its like burning the american people.do i agree with Mcain and Palin on everything? no i dont, do i agree with the last 8 years of leadership? no i dont, so please dont judge me by what i feel, as im an everyday working class american who wants better and its not the other ticket imo thats gonna bring that to the table........just my thoughts and hell no im not a raciest just a conservative republican(dont hate me)..............laurie

Aren't all those things you just described what McCain doesn't stand for?

...and we couldn't hate you for what you believe in ;)

The thing is, we have no idea what we're getting into with either candidate. We all know it's just lip-service until they get into office. Why would they care if they follow up on their promises? They're guaranteed to be president for at least 4 years and never have to work a day in their life after they get out of office.

Well if you really believe that the oil companies should be drilling for oil here then you should watch this video here,
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.
, it is by a man named Lindsey Williams who talks about his first hand knowledge of Alaskan oil reserves that are larger than any on earth. He also talks about how the oil companies and U.S. government won't send it through the pipeline for U.S. citizens to use either and this oil reserve is not in Anwar but a place called Gull Island on the north shore of Alaska. The irony is though even if we did drill our own oil the government most likely would not sell it to the american public. The Alaskan pipeline has been online since the 70's and you know how much of that oil the american public uses ? None...Zero %...The oil from the pipeline is sold to Japan and has been forever.... The globalists and the powers that be behind the scenes would not have it any other way...I could give you a hundred reasons for this but until you have an open mind to the way the world really works there is no sense going into it here...do watch the video though when you get the time, it is about an hour long and it will help enlighten you as to the way things really are... Lindsey Williams was a pastor and chaplin for years and years and was also the chaplin to the oil men that worked on the pipeline so take that for what it's worth. Oh yea, by the way his life has been threatened too if he did not stop doing these public speaking forums...which he did needless to say and he also pulled his book from Amazon also !!

i believe that all illegals who are in this country need to be sent back and come thru the door the way that so ...others have(more jobs for americans).

McCain is not your man then, he wont even regulate the Arizona border to keep them out...but here again...Republican/Democrat doesn't matter, both parties are really just a crock of s#@*.... both parties are really just one party with two seperate heads, it's like one big snake with two heads as both parties are controlled by the globalists and the elite, the real powers behind the scene like the Rockefellers, Rothschilds, the JP Morgans of the world...that is why they would never let or allow someone like Ron Paul to be voted into office, because they realize if they did then they would have to assassinate him the same way they did with Kennedy. The global elite also want the world population reduced by half by 2024 too, you will never hear anything like this mentioned in the mainstream press or media either because it is also controlled by the global elite...why do you never see us going into places like Darfur or Rwanda or a hundred other places around the globe to try and help stop the genocide that is continually going on in places like those ?

i believe that there is no such promise as free health care and free university education, who will pay for this? borrow more money from china? you , me and everyone else pay for it!! i think something better should be in place to help the poor, disabled and most of all the elderly, do you realize there may not be social security for you or i or our grandchildren in the future? i also want our troops home, im tired of seeing our men and woman dying, the time has come to bring them home NOW!!!,

Well McCain is certainly not the one to bring our troops home as he has stated many many times that the war could last 50 - 100 years as far as he was concerned...hell Laurie, they have been using the backdoor draft now for six years, you really should do some research on these folks...

i want better for america, where we used to be looked upon with respect and not spit on or our flags burned in the streets, that flag may just be a peice of cloth to some but to me its like burning the american people.do i agree with Mcain and Palin on everything? no i dont, do i agree with the last 8 years of leadership? no i dont, so please dont judge me by what i feel, as im an everyday working class american who wants better and its not the other ticket imo thats gonna bring that to the table........just my thoughts and hell no im not a raciest just a conservative republican(dont hate me)..............laurie

Feelings are fine to have as far as friends and family are concerned but to just believe in one party as the end all revelation is just what the globalists want you to do and you are just playing into their hands and keeping yourself dumbed down to what is really going on in the world, as I said neither party is worth a S@^* really but a lone individual could be, if he or she had enough people behind them to get them into office...hope this was not too harsh Laurie, I do consider us friends but as a friend I feel that my friend needs a wake up call and a reality check...:D

I believe the reality of the situation is this: Politicans make speeches/promises to get elected. Once elected, they become privy to information not previously available to them. Based on the new/added information, they realize their "campaign promises" are unrealistic and unattainable. So Americans then become bitter/disappointed when the reforms promised in the pre-election speeches do not materialize. Doesn't matter whether politicians are Republicans, Democrats, Independents, or whatever else.............reality has no party bounds.

I feel for you guys.............it's a bummer.........you are going to have to relate to a woman in a non-sexual way! You should ask the closest woman to you.........go ahead.......we've become fairly adept at sizing up men (NO pun:D) without wondering how they'd be in the sack........:D

Whoa - as a neutral and non-American observer I would opine that you've got to have guts and a really thick skin to enter the US political arena. The personal level of the attacks on Ms. Palin and her family in some media, often quoting her political opponents, has shocked me this time around. As have the blatantly ageist attacks on McCain.

My personal opinion of Barack Obama went up a few more notches when he personally disassociated himself with most of this distasteful activity, which to my mind has gone beyond the balance of rational political debate, but I guess that will not stop the fanatical fringe that all political parties seem to attract from continuing with this form of character assassination designed to take opponents out before they even get started.

And I have to say that Ms. Palin seems to be getting way more scrutiny and personal criticism from the media and from the Democratic hit squads than I can remember previous Vice Presidential nominees from receiving. Hillary included for the purposes of this viewpoint.

Is it particularly nasty because she is a woman, or is this just hardball politics at its worst?

I would really rather see disciplined debate on the issues and solutions of both parties, but that doesn't always suit the media's preference for controversy and sensationalism or the public's apparent delight in salacious material.

Governor Palin is clearly a remarkable leader and politician, and I hope that she is judged on her potential, achievements and performance in this election rather than her sex appeal, offspring problems, issues that have yet to be finalised regarding her erstwhile brother-in-law and twenty-year-old DUI citations of her husband.

It sure is an interesting election!

Thomas Eagleton in 1972 iirc!!! (Agnew not included as he was in office whereas Eagleton resigned as a nominee).

EDIT:Went to brush up the ole memory and I will be damn, it has already started. Get your popcorn ready!!

That is a pretty broad (NO pun:D) statement and if I understand the context of your post, I think most, despite the leg references, are above what you imply. Political, religious, sexism debates can become heated, hateful, etc. so no more from moi!!!....I may even change my avi:D

I find the irony of someone that preaches sexual abstinence should be the only form of sex education in public schools... having an unmarried pregnant 17 year old daughter to be almost overwhelming... (I wonder if Governor Palin has figured out yet that preaching abstinence to horny teenagers just does not work!!!)

I also find it ironic that a person that is on record as being totally anti-choice (Palin is on record supporting a law that would require rape and incest victims to carry their unwanted pregnancy's to term) gave her own daughter a "choice" about her underage and unmarried pregnancy... So she wants choice for her family... Just not for everyone else.

I don't know about anyone else but I am very tired of these politicos that say one thing for the country, but in their private lives they do the exact opposite...

Governor Palin also seems to have the bad habit of bringing her personal vendettas to the office she holds... She is under investigation for trying to get her sisters ex-husband fired from his job as a State Trooper... One of her first acts in her 18 months as Governor... If you want that kind of personal vendetta politics, not to mention the attitude that she seems to think she is above the law, to stay in the White House, it looks like a vote for the Republican candidate is for you.

Hmmm, seems Slick Willie had a field day with pardon power before he left office.

A reference to slick Willie, whoever that might be... George Bush??? Dick Cheney??? If anyones 'slick' and slippery those two guys sure are... Are you talking about George Bush's pardon of I. Lewis Libby Jr.???

It doesn't say who gave those pardons....:) I seriously doubt they were all (if any) presidential pardons :D

Winbig, this site was the first that appeared for a Google search of "clinton pardons." So, yes, I am afraid they were all Presidential pardons made by William Jefferson Clinton, aka Slick Willie, before he left office in 2001.

The title of the document is "President Clinton's Pardons, January 2001" and the date is his last day in office. There is also a disproportionate number of crooks from Arkansas on the list.
