hey guys remember me?

i'm somewhat new to facebook, and newly single so i had to clear off all the friends in connection with the ex. i never really bother too much with facebook, but i need to bulk up my number of friends so i don't look like a loser.

if anyone's interested, please reply/pm, or even better just add "robert mclean" the one with the old winnipeg jets logo as the profile picture, on your facebook along with a note of who you appear as on this board, would be wicked.

thanks a bunch folks, hope to see you all real soon. we'll use media to socialize!

-hGb

It's the old adage --- Quality is more important than quantity.

Just worry about those you want to stay in contact with -- who cares what the # might be??

"but i need to bulk up my number of friends so i don't look like a loser." And there you have one of the saddest commentaries on social networking imo - not directed at you specifically, Robert, but a general comment because I believe it's the sort of thinking that is widespread.

As Diane said above - quality (and reliability, trust and loyalty are included in that) is what really counts.

yeah but also no one wants to be first, be the only friend of the guy. the more you have the easier to get more.

and its because i came late to the game, i just joined maybe 6 months ago, so everyone else had time to amass scores of friends.

and i only cracked and signed up because i wanted to play price is right game on there lmao. (always spin again because everyone else does unless they got like 85 and above)

awaiting your add request jetset

I tried to add you, but there are a million Robert Mcleans. LOL I never even use FB really, but thought I would add ya anyway!

So 'friendship' is reduced to numbers? No thanks!

hmm so you don't deem me worthy of your friendship i suppose that means? despite my goal to get volume, i was extending an invitation to you personally and am quite upset by the swift and curt rejection. i can appreciate your reluctance to denigrate yourself by friending for little to no reason, because you would devalue your other friends by including me among them who never worked to earn the friendship. you are a man of strong ethics, very admirable.

mommymachine how can i find out where to send you to get the real me? pm me your name maybe i find you?

EDIT: learned how to get a unique address to send folks to. its facebook.com/rpm864

Last year I received 10 friend requests a day and from people I didn't even know so I ignored them. Then my neighbor asked me why I didn't accept his friend request and it was all about the game he was playing or getting points for a game or something like that. I figure they just wanted points or whatever they get for bringing in more 'friends' so I still basically ignore the few I get now. It's not about friendship as we know it I don't think. ;)

You can be my friend Robert but you'll have to be my neighbor on Garden of Time  it's 'felicie ful' at FB.

Top-right of the screen (in Facebook)...

Click on 'Account' > 'Privacy Settings'. This opens a new screen. At the top of this screen, there is then the section 'Connecting on Facebook'... click the highlighted text 'View Settings'. This will then bring you to another new screen.

Half-way down this screen, there is a section 'See your friend list' & beside it, a drop-down box (to the right). Beside 'Custom' click 'edit'. You can then select who sees your friends list, (I have mine set to 'only me'). Not only does this then prevent anyone seeing how many friends you have (FB envy?!), but also then gives your friends an added element of security / prevents them from having people they don't know clicking / browsing their profiles etc. (I agree, they should already have reviewed their own security settings to prevent any unwanted attention, but if there are any 'loopholes' in FB security, why make it easy for people to find them?!).

Hope this helps :)

Okay, wanna talk about idiots...My daughter texts me instructions how to get on my facebook account...37 invites??? Hell NOOOOO!!! There's 78 invites!?!?! WTH, 3 pages and all because she wanted me to be her neighbor in some game called Garden of Time or something. I need a Facebook for dummies guide

Question...If I simply don't click on anything will all of these invites disappear?

if you go click on games or game requests and click X beside the request you can block all game requests or just a certain game
