Tips Improve NetEnt slot performance

Just thought I'd share this as it's made a MASSIVE improvement to my overall experience at Redbet.

(This will probably work for any other casino software that runs in a web browser, but I haven't tried it yet.)

I was playing NetEnt slots at RedBet last night, had four of them tiled in my browser window at once, and by crikey it was chugging. Animations were slow and jerky, frames were being dropped, it just all looked a bit poor. (For example when free spins is triggered on Jack and the Beanstalk, the animation where he gets launched up into the clouds was pretty ropey.)

Now I knew it wasn't down to my PC, as it's a very capable gaming PC, but I figured it was just a limitation of running four games at once in a browser window without hardware acceleration.

Then I thought to myself, why can't I just force my browser to use GPU acceleration? It's an application like any other, after all. It just seemed ridiculous that I've got a 2GB GTX670 in my PC doing naff-all whilst I'm watching online slots run like a bloody slideshow.......

Well, it turns out you can force Chrome to use GPU acceleration!

1) Type about:flags into Chrome's address bar
2) Find the entry for GPU Accelerated Compositing
3) Set it to enabled
4) Restart Chrome

Huzzah! Now I can have four graphically intensive NetEnt slots running at once, at a gorgeous silky-smooth 60 frames per second! It makes them look soooooo much nicer and smoother!

If your PC/laptop has any sort of half-decent graphics capability (and even fairly cheap laptops have reasonable integrated GPUs these days), I seriously recommend you give it a try. Obviously you'll need to be running Chrome as your web browser (if you're not doing that already, you really should be), I'm not sure if IE or Firefox have matching capabilities, I haven't checked.

Give it a go and see what you think!

1). Enter ‘about:config’.
2). Click through the warning, if necessary.
3). Enter gfx.font in the ‘Filter’ box.
4). Double-click on ‘gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled’ to set it to true.
5). Below this, right click and select New > Integer to add a pref setting.
6). Enter ‘mozilla.widget.render-mode’ for the preference name, 6 for the value.
7). Restart

Forgive me for not understanding, but I simply can't understand the need for playing more than one game at a time.
Is it to win faster, getting rid of the money faster, or managing the wagering faster?
I'm playing for fun mostly and I have try in MG to play a couple of games at the same time, but that just makes me stressed.
So someone...please tell me

Ummm mate, thank you for this, and a little while ago I indeed did try/do this. I don't like it. Its definitely faster, but when not playing and just browsing for example, its feeling a little unstable and making my laptop in general 'feel weird'. Please tell me how to reverse this to how it was before. Ty.

Nordicbet also has 4 games at once, in the game section, not sure if you can play anything, i think it;s limited to a certain list of games: just saw that once, when i signed up, never used it.
It's called the matrix there.

I've found it to be brilliant because it means there's almost always something going on. Now that I've got used to playing four slots simultaneously at Redbet, I honestly can't face going back to playing one slot at a time.

Let's face it, when it comes to video slots it's all about waiting for the bonus/free spins round, the base game is generally just a waiting game. When it comes to high variance slots like Reel Steal/Dead or Alive, you can literally be waiting hundreds if not thousands of spins for a decent hit, with no guarantee it'll ever arrive at all.

What I've found works for me is getting the four slots chosen on the following criteria:

1) The 'interesting' and/or new slot - currently for me this is Evolution.
2) The high variance slot. (Reel Steal or Dead Alive being the two obvious choices.)
3) The 'favourite' slot, something like Beach or Jack and the Beanstalk.
4) The dependable wagering slot, Blood Suckers, which is low variance and 98.0% RTP Or maybe Simsalabim, low variance and 97.5% RTP.

When playing with a bonus, this means that I am wagering quickly, I'm playing a couple of slots that I really like, I also have the chance of hitting something really big on a high variance slot, and I'm boosting my overall RTP with the presence of Blood Suckers/Simsalabim.

It just keeps things 'busy', free spins and bonus rounds are incredibly regular, I've had four free spins rounds running at once on a couple of occasions

It won't be to everyone's taste I agree, but I've found it to be a really fun way to play.

I would probably be so scared of running out of money to fast, but you are actually right about the bonusrounds on some of the games, and DoA and Reel Steal are running so slow so it do get boring to play them after a while.

I like multi-spinning too Tiri, especially, when say, you have a bigger balance then you started with, somewhere at least over a 100,- and then you can open your high variance games, set a fix number of spins and, depending on what kind of sofware your playing, select several options (stop on freespins, wins times x, overall loss times x, single win larger then x, etc.)
And then play another, more exciting game on which you can focus/is more enjoyable, or play 2, 3 or 4 other
In MG you can open as many games as you like theoretically, but you better have a good pc and a good connection, or that goes really slow pretty quickly: there have been a few threads before this concerning multitabling/tabbing.
I like the rush of gambling, and when I'm in that rush (the winning streak) i get kind of adrenalin-ish and that's a good time to multitable.
If you low roll, you can mix it up (high-variance versus low/med-variance) which by incident was mr Chops last video subject, iirc: and if you high roll you'll likely hit big or go home soon

Anyway, of course it's a very personal thing, but you might wanna give it a shot next time when your way up.

On the OT, good going guys: i think you can also just right click in any flash based browser-entity, and open the flashplayer options/properties, where you can click the bottom left screen-icon, and put a mark in the checkbox for "enable hardware acceleration"

To disable the hardware acceleration, set "gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled" to false and "mozilla.widget.render-mode" to 0.

This video features a 'before and after' of the Chrome acceleration fix, although as the video as capped at 30FPS the effect isn't as dramatic as it is in real life.

As for the Evolution slot, I really do like that bonus round, I'd love to know what its maximum pay is, it feels like it could go massive, especially on a 4/5 scatters trigger. (Although the two 4s I had were fairly uninspiring.)

One of the NetEnt casinos (I think it was Cherry casino) gave me $1 to play Evolution. I did 4 spins @ 25 cents and hit the feature, it paid almost $40, so that was not bad. But I'd see the symbols changing and then they didn't seem to do anything, but now I get it. I just thought that I was getting luckier as the free spins went on!

Thanks a lot. I`ll try that later in the day. I was forced to play some slots ie Evolution on Low Quality for some time now, just too slow, sometimes had to reload game mid-spin. Strange, since I bought spanking new laptop and have 24mb broadband.
