Hi all,

I have slipped up again and I am not proud.

I have installed adblocker on my laptop which is fantastic, it really helps to keep me away from gaming websites.

I joined a mobile slots site which was advertised on facebook, I don't know of anyway to turn adverts off on Facebook unfortunately. The site is called slotscrazy.com and I did not bother to check the owner of the website which is Cassava / 888.com.

I managed to lose £1400.00 in the space of about 15 minutes, I think I managed to win £80 on 2 occasions but otherwise it was loss after loss. :(
I have self excluded and been excluded by several gaming sites that are run by Cassava / 888.com in the past, but yet again I was allowed to use one of their newish sites and rack up a big loss.

I know I need to take most of the responsibility here and I'm aware that I have been stupid, but unfortunately, I obviously have a gambling problem.

Should I get in touch with the casino and query why I was allowed to join and lose so easily?

Thanks in advance

J

I've seen so many stories like this in the past I can already tell that you're out of luck. They won't return your money. Why I think it's outright bullshit that they won't return your money is that IF you had ended up winning, they most likely wouldn't have paid you because you're already self-excluded from their other sites due to a gambling problem. How is it fair that if you win, you lose, but if you lose you still lose. It's ridiculous that casinos let you register at their sister sites despite having a self-exclusion at their other sites and let you practically just give them money for free.

Adblocker is alright to block casino ads but it won't let you get away from casinos. If you really need help seek actual help from friends&family, and get a gamblock or similar program. Sure it'll cost ya but it'll save you a lot in the end. Just make sure you install it to every device you have access to ..

If you have a self admitted gambling problem, id also inform Bryan so he can put you in the Quit Gambling section of the site in order to remove some of the temptation found here.

SlotsCrazy.com is just an affiliate portal, NOT a casino.
So what was the name of the actual casino you played at?

If the casino is owned by Cassava you may have a case, but if it's not, you're probably screwed.

Either way, you obviously have a serious self-control issue when it comes to gambling, and I hope you can get whatever help you need to control your urges.

I think he is referring to slotcrazy.com without the "s".

I have deposited and played thrice.

Yep that's the one.

I have had email confirmation that they are owned by Cassava and that my account has been closed

''please be advised that your account has been blocked because you have a responsible gaming issue on other accounts that we also operate.''

Do I let sleeping dogs lie? It p****s me off though that they can't block you at the point of registration.

I don't know how much advice I can give you (As I don't consider myself an addict), or even how much of this advice you will take; but if your gambling habits are so out of hand that you felt the need to use an adblocker to block ads that display gambling orientated websites, then I'd say you have a huge problem.

I feel it may do you some good to at least quit for a while and use the money on something else.

Maybe try and limit your PC/Laptop use to 2 hours a day.

Find a hobby that interests you.

Start watching a tv show and binge on it and find a new one to binge on when it's over.

Go a walk at night.

Think this to yourself. Would you rather be depressed and miserable after blowing a wad of cash?

Or would you rather keep that cash and not feel depressed?

I don't know what else to say really, other than I know what it feels like to piss away your money and regretting it, thinking what you could have done with that money.

I had a big problem in the past, fortunately I got it under control after I learnt a few hard lessons; now If I get to a withdrawal I no longer piss it back or hit reverse :)

And I never ever deposit more than £80 a fortnight and I low roll the whole 9 yards ;)

I really wish you the best and hope you can overcome your addiction.

If you need help there are gambling hotlines you can call to get the help you need.

Sorry to hear what happened, I think you have learnt your lesson so no need to talk about that further.

I was looking at their terms and conditions and I'm afraid your out of luck it clearly states the following:

You acknowledge and agree that should you choose to self-exclude from the Site or from any other site operated by the Company, you shall not be permitted to open or use a new account with the Site (or any other websites operated by the Company, if applicable) during your selected self-exclusion period, until such self-exclusion has been lifted and the original account reopened. In the event you are in breach of the foregoing, we shall be entitled to terminate any new account you open with any other website, forfeit any funds therein, and we shall not be liable to refund to you any funds you may have wagered or won through such account. For more information regarding self-exclusion please see our Responsible Gaming Policy.

It's a pretty poor policy for the consumer, how the hell is someone meant to know what other sites are operated by the company? Its not upto the individual to find out this information but the company stating the terms and conditions to provide them or a link which one player can easily view that has updated information.

I imagine judging by how its worded in their terms and conditions this happens quite alot but they certainly protect themselves even if you didn't lose your funds and still had the 1400 in your account they can keep that regardless.

You can look it this way luckily you didnt win £20,000 as you would never be seeing it I think that would ultimately be worse.

Good luck in the future.

That being the case, I definitely think you should pursue this through the UKGC.
Regardless of what their T&Cs may say, I believe they are obliged to return your deposits to comply with UK laws.

Indeed they are, however with the group in question, who are a law unto themselves and enjoy changing their T&C's without informing their customers, I have a feeling they will drag their feet as much as possible.

Most, including myself would need help with this 'mess' created by UKGC and SE but with Cassava I feel they will need a total miracle, they'll probably be digging for loop holes as we speak :(
