I closed my account permanently at one casino. A year later I was opening account to casino owned by same operator and under same license. When I asked if it is ok they said that sure and I can also open my account to casino where i have closed my account permanently, because "you only closed it for six months". Truth is that I closed it in chat permanently. Well then I opened new account and lost a lot of money... Thats not casinos fault, but should accredited casinos work like this?

Should they do like this? How ethical is this? :)

I think the issue is you 'closed' your account, rather than self-excluded. Correct me if that's incorrect. I believe, however, that simply closing an account - even for casinos licensed by the UKGC - means you can open it back up at any time, albeit with a 24-hour cooling off period.

Yep that is actually correct. Closing an account is completely different to self excluding. Funnily enough on the weekend, I opened up a second account at a casino where I had an account several years ago, which I got closed.

I did this as I needed to check one of the games for research for my portal. I obviously left a skype message with my point of contact at the casino, explaining what I had done. I didn't deposit, take a bonus or place a bet.

Anyhow, the reason why I was able to open up this second account ( Used exactly same details as the first account ), was due to the fact that I had closed the first account several years ago. Hence my opening of a new account wasn't flagged as a 'second' account.

That's interesting - so does that imply the casino 'moves' dormant/closed account details into a separate database, which isn't referenced on new sign-ups? I would have thought they cross-referenced the database, to avoid double sign-ups just like yours!

All I know is, is that if my first account was self excluded and not closed, I would not have been able to open the second account.

Do you have logs of the closure? I've seen several casinos that has a manual closure option that lets you close for up to 6 months, and you must go to chat if you want it permanently closed.

Closure is also not the same as self-exclusion. If you are self-excluded from an operator you should not be able to open an account if you use the same name and email and/or IP as your excluded account (all of those can be circumvented).

If you simply closed your account at YourCasinoA and then went to YourCasinoB and lost 10 grand then you're shit outta luck if you actually intended to self-exclude.

A chat agent is unfortunately not able to read your thoughts on the matter, so if you want to be excluded you really cannot ask for your account to be closed and then complain afterwords.

Unfortunately, not all casinos are the same. I asked for my account at Videoslots to be closed (note I didn't ask for self exclusion nor quoted problem gambling because neither apply to me), regretted it afterwards but they are point blank refusing to reopen it. Their terms say only one account per customer so I daren't open a new one.

I have said it before in another topic, but Videoslots appear to be very strict when it comes to the interpretation of UKGC rules and regulations. Or perhaps they are being overly cautious.

It is frustrating nevertheless because I regret closing the account.

In the meantime, all the other casinos are getting my monies so I shall look at it as it is their loss, others gain.

I thought this was the case across the board until last Sunday. Hence I messaged on skype my contact at the casino, that I had opened up another account, purely for research purposes on a particular game, for my site.

I was told it wasn't flagged up as my original account wasn't self excluded and I had requested for it to be closed. This was several years ago.

This does bring up an interesting question though, in that what would have happened if I decided to play with this newly opened second account. Surely if I won, I would not have been paid out. Especially if I took a bonus. Having already had one several years ago with my new account.

I am going to ask the casino this. As this is quite interesting....
