In the nunthorpe, 3.15, assuming 8 runners remain, Moss Gill has a decent chance of being placed, assuming the ground isn't any worse than yesterday. Currently still available at 40/1 in places, assuming one of the top 3 in the betting fail to deliver, which happens regularly, then I think this is the one that will take advantage. It's form figures here are 2211. This is a better race, but not massively so, and while Battaash should win this easily, I'll be surprised if one of the outsiders doesn't fill one of the places, and this is the one I think has the best chance of doing so. Danny Tudhope's on board, so far he has had a winner and 3 placed from 6 rides at the meeting, so rides the course pretty well. The trainers had one runner so far, that managed 2nd at 12/1.
1.45 Zabeel Champion is the worthy favourite, although the distance is the question, but I think he will be able to handle it ok. 15/8 seems short to me though, so going to go with Byron Flyer at 22/1. He's ran well in better races than this and theres nothing really in the race apart from ZF that I would say has a outstanding chance of being placed. If he can recapture his form from last year then he certainly has a better chance of being up there than the price suggests. The fly in the ointment is Ben Curtis, I don't rate him at all, but if he takes it up early to try to make all, and doesn't push him too hard in the early stages, then I think he might just hold on. Restorer would be my second choice, but I'm not sure he likes York.
In the 4.50, Willie Haggis had 7 runners yesterday, they finished 2194323. Grand Rock hasn't lasted home in his last 2 runs over 10f, back to a mile today, he should do much better. I do think h ewould prefer a bit of cut in the ground, but hopefully by then the course would be a little slower than at the start, plus theres rain forecast all day. 12/1 5 places at most firms. He should front run, and I can't see anything in the race thats likely to take him on, so think he might win, or at least be in the first 5. Also has first time cheekpieces on.
1.25S Ten Chants should be good enough to get a place here. Not sure why he's drifting so much in the bbetting, but 8/1 is good enough for me to stick it in the EW lucky 15.
2.15 I like Eagles by Day but only 2 places so not a bet. Skybet are 3 places and if I was using them would back it EW at 8/1.
As an aside, not sure why Sean Bowen is doing flat racing at the moment, he isn't very good at it, and should stick to jumps

However, he's taking a 300 mile round trip tonight to ride Englishman in the 5.35W, and presumably he could have had a couple of rides at Newton Abbot if he wished. Currently around 20/1, if I get any winnings from this afternoon, I'll stick a small EW bet on it.
