Haven't looked a whole lot yet. But following on from discussions about the StWilfred I did eventually land on Gunmetal currently 9/1.

In the juv hurdle at MR (12.30) I think Bannister shoudl beat the favourite, Soldier on Parade. Has a 7lb pull in the weights, and at more than twice the price, is the better option of the two.

4.40N French Conquest, 12/1. Tudhope has travelled here for one retained ride. Been money for it, EW.

2.50 Deauville, Alpine Star, around 7/1, likes the ground, the form of it's second in the Dianne is extremely good, Palace Pier is likely not to like Heavy ground, certainly wouldn't be backing it around evens, and think Persian King is over rated. I think Circus Maximus is the main danger, and both are probably worth an EW bet, but the main choice is Alpine Star.

Longshot of the day, Miami Present in the 2.40U. He has won better races than this in the past, has won over this distance and think he needs 3 miles these days. His last race he was pulled up, but was his first race for almost 3 years, and over an inadequate 2m4f. He has won from a higher mark than this, and with a bigger weight. Out of Sean's 3 rides today, I really think this one's the most likely the one to give him a share of the prize money. Obviously the main factor is if he is fit after the long lay off and if his last race got him ready for this. Theres nothing outstanding in the race and think this is worth an EW bet. The 2.40 is an interesting race. Looking at the form's I think you could make an ew case for almost every nag. Miami Present has the best consistency out of all of them but I would question if he is still up for it. I have a small bet on at Uttox and in this race I chose Vice Et Vert ew.
I avoid newcomer races like the plague because I don't have the extensive knowledge that you have re breeding and other factors. I can see the logic with Mithmaar in the 2.00 because the big odds on fave means that the 4th fave you picked's odds are pretty high given that there are 3 places. I think something similar with Yaazaain in the 2.10.

But damn your opting for huge prices today?

I got 12/1 at bet365 not long ago. At that price he is a very likeable each way for me. Its a pretty good race as nursery races go but I think the value for me lies here.
Be warned the horse is as low as 8s on paddy power so shop around if possible.



In case I forget to pop back in here also on Saturday Statement is entered in another fillies maiden if the price allows shes definitely worth a bet.

I think that is a very good shout although I have already placed my bets for the day. I had Diamond Haze marked out for that race although I didn't back it.
I'm not taken much by todays racing so I kept my bets low just for an interest.

I am working less than an hour from killarney right now and it hasn't stopped pissing rain since 6am when I left home. I imagine the ground will be bottomless by tomorrow for sure and maybe even a going change today. I've steered clear as a result for now.

At York Paddy Power go 6 places instead of 4 in the opener. I fancy Came From The Dark each way. Ryan Moore rides for Ed Walker and it wont mind a bit of cut in the ground. Currently 18/1 with PP.

I've just checked out the cards in Ireland and there are quite a lot of none runners and I suspect that a few more will drop out as the afternoon progresses but my small bet seems untouched so far. It seems in Ireland they often wait until late in the day before withdrawing their nags?

Yup because most places are only a 90 minute to 2 hour drive away lots can cry off late.

Theres a weather warning for tonight too which sounds quite severe if that storm does have an impact tomorrows cards may be pulled.

Sligo is a graveyard I have never to my knowledge seen a decent classified stakes horse or grade horse run at that course.

That makes perfect sense to me. In England today the furthest travelers are over 250 miles excluding Ireland to York.
It looks like pretty much all of the UK are going to get it for the next few days so I suspect that many meetings will be at risk.

Nice days racing at York today. Not much time to go into details.

Banker today for me is Ghaiyyath in the 3.15, think he should beat this field without breaking sweat and I wouldn't have been surprised to see him at odds on. Currently 13/8 seems ridiculously high to me.

1.45 Acclaim The Nation is higher than I would have expected, 22/1 and 6 places is enough for me to back it today. The only negative is I think he will be on the side that doesn't have much pace, if they split. Hyperfocus needs soft, and although its rained, I don't think it will be soft enough for him, however think he has a good chance if it is, along with Came From The Dark.

3.45 Solo Saxophone, won over course and distance 2 runs ago, and while this is a better race, he won very easily, was 7/1 earlier which would have excluded him from my bet, but now available at 16's 5 places, means he's back in

2.45 Robert Escobarr is the hot horse everyone's talking about, and backing. I don't think it will get placed, but the money does mean most others are drifting. I'm going with the outsider of them all, Juan Elcano @16's, as I think he will stay the trip and, apart from Highland Chief, don't see anything else at a decent price to back. I can, of course, guess which will win now

I didn't want to say it yesterday but I had Acclaim the Nation marked out but due to its price I bottled it. As it turned out I had nothing to go with it anyhoo so I didn't end up with tears in my eyes

I am going to wait until close to the off before placing any bets in case late non runners

Had a flick through most of todays racing and picked a few speculative ones as work will be slow, I can actually watch the racing.

FWIW I think Jon Snow will hack up in the opener at Killarney loving the ground but at odds of 4/7 I'll let it slide.

To me there's a tonne of each way value here. Very solid race lto and will have no problem with the ground.

Again no problem with the ground. In very good form and quick turnaround shouldn't be an issue.
13.45 York Sussex Garden ew 10/1 Bet365 (4 places at Bet365, 3 elsewhere)
Don't see many Harrington raiders over for a race like this. Ryan Moore up very good form, won't hate any cut in ground. Very lively chance for me.
15.15 York Franconia ew 15/2 Bet365
This is proper speculative as Love was very impressive in winning the Oaks. BUT the horse was turned over twice last year on ground slower than good I really think she may want it like a car park so I've taken a poke on Franconia. Hasn't raced on slower than good but is very likely to complete the forecast if not turn over Love imo.
15.45York Vivionn ew 8/1 Paddy Power
I really like the comeback run 3rd of 5 in a group 3 at Haydock and have no interest in the ones at the top of the market making this one for Stoute/Moore a very strong ew bet imo.
17.25Chester Hereby win 3/1 Bet365
I fancy hereby and Spanish Mission to pull clear. The longer trip should suit and the track will play to Herebys advantage.

I've back all these in singles either win or ew as I said and used Paddy Power and Bet365 as both offered Best current price and all are guarenteed.
I also did a 50cent each way Lucky 63 on these 6,

2.45 Ouzo 16/1. Pretty consistant horse, who's a little high in the handicap, but has been gelded since his Royal Ascot run, where he didn't run very well, but was joint favourite. It's a long, flat straight, which will suit his style of running and the stable seem confident he will run well. Very competitive race though and I could easily back 6 of them at high odds, for example, others I took a serious look at were What's The Story 20/1, Documenting 20/1, Chatez 50/1 (which would be my second choice), Another Touch 66/1 and Shelir 28/1! Very surprised if one or two of them aren't in the first 5, no doubt will be the ones I decided against backing

3.15, think the ground will be against Love, doesn't mean it won't win, but 1/2? Not for me, so doing a small RFC on Frankly Darling and Manuela De Vega

4.55C Glasvegas. Easier race than he has been running in, however being drawn 11 doesn't help him at all. This is a hopeful value bet rather than expecting him to win/place. 50/1 4 places seems too high to me.

2.15 Vedute, 50/1 5 places. Most the horses in this could be anything and I like this ones profile. Think the favourite would be hard to beat but the places are open to pretty much every horse in the race, will be no surprise to see a couple 25/1+ in the top 5.

4.50 Dawaaween, has decent form on ground with cut in it, nothing in the race stands out, think this should get a place at least, 10/1 most places.

EW Lucky 15 on the 4 mentioned, plus the RFC.

I probably should have done a lucky ew 63 to include Golden Pass in the 3.45 but these are my bets for today. I quite liked the card at Bath so its a shame that the meeting was cancelled.
One thing I am quite sad about is the the announcement by ARC of wide scale redundancies at their 16 racecourses. Although I expected it I fear that its only the beginning and it has a big impact on my income

Ouzo just squeezed 5th there, and Vedute failed to place, but ran much better than his odds suggested, so happy with that, obviously would have been happier if it was in the money though
