I have been lurking for probably 3 years, and have decided to start posting. I want to post a "thank you" tag to some of the posts, and i cannot figure out the mechanics; i looked at the FAQ, and also tried to do a search. Can someone please help me? I am sure it's very simple, but...

Have a very happy holiday.

Click on the "Thanks!" link beneath the post.
Oh! and welcome! :)

Steve pretty much summed it up. When logged in, at the bottom of a post three (sometimes four) buttons are "Quote" "Multi-Quote" "Thanks!" and "Nominate" (Nominate is only in certain sections of the forum.

Pressing thanks will add a "Thank You!" with your name to any post. In the Screenshots forum, "Thank you!" is replaced with "WTG!". This was implimented to differentiate thanking someone for a thoughtful or intuitive post from congratulating them on a great win.

Merry Christmas,
CK

Ah! you're from the U.S.A! Apparently your government rushed through an undemocratic "piggy-back" law that restricts your freedom to participate in forums of your choice. Sorry! You'll just have to move to a free country!

Just kidding! :)
You need to register and log in.

I believe you have to have a certain amount of rep points
to issue the Thanks

Good Luck

Cindy

FAQ for the Thanks button is here.

You need a minimum of ten posts before being able to use this button.

Well no one has answered the question about how to post a new thread!

I have been here posting for 3 months and it still is a PIA to start a new thread
At first one could click on a link from the threads like "online casino", "complaints" etc but now they are not there anymore So I fumble around until I see a tab that says "new post" or something to that effect So I just reply most of the time as I know where that tab is :))

Maybe there is a good reason I don't know how to start a new thread or post whatever, this way I avoid controversy and I anm very good at that lol.

To be honest, this forum while informative, revealing, interesting, sexy with all the pinups and last but not least the tremendous help given by CM , Max and the others when a forum member has problems with a casino, its very user unfriendly to newbies . I have had to send personal notes to members to find out how to do things........For example, to find a friend to send a question to, what is fastest way to scroll forum members whose name is at bottom of alphabets?(not "Z's dummy lol) lets say ROBWIN.By the time I get to the R's I fall asleep. I may be showing my ignorace here , but I doubt it since I have been involved with software appilcations for use by "dummies"
Well said more than enough !!

Until such time as you have a thanks button, just reply to the thread and use the quotes to thank someone.

It is not as important to me to receive rep points as to feel I have contributed to a discussion, and someone has found what I had to say of value.

Stovetopp,

More patience, less haste. Why do you think that so many newbies are able to introduce themselves. Simple! By going to that particular section and clicking on new thread. That is as friendly user as you can get. If you click on the online casino section you also see "New Thread' and you can then proceed.

On sending pms to members, you dont have to scroll down. Just click on the username wherever it is available and choose send an email to him. If not, click on your own user CP and send the pm from the choices you have there. Type in say Robwin's username and it is done. Most of the time when you have typed 'Robw" it already shows robwin. I am a computer illiterate and am slow on these things yet I honestly do not find things to be user-unfriendly here. Just be patient and they will work out fine.

hi Rob Thanks I finally saw the "new thread " tab...After my post last night
I looked for nearly 20 minutes to find the tab and couldn't, so I gave up. So now I can post (later) on a subject that has been bothering me.

Actually, it may be my computer. It is running very low on memory, so on occasions I don't get to see graphics well if at all.

Ok that part about newbie posting is easy I got that And how could one not get it..You are reminded each time you read the forum and have not made a post

As for finding a members name in order to send pm, what if the user is not on line or has not made or replies to a post in DAYS or WEEKS

And lastly, after my 2,947 posts I DO hope I will have everything under control:))
Any way thanks for the input..I don't want to drag this thing out.....No hurry , but later one can explain the "multiquote" option to me and how its used.

FAQ for the Thanks button is here.

You need a minimum of ten posts before being able to use this button.

Thanks for the link. I think the key message for newbies is the minimum requirement of ten posts before the Thanks button is enabled. Perhaps you could add this statement to the FAQs.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

It wont take that long - I assure you!

Multiquote is used (as you might expect) if you want to quote from more than one other post which has already been made by other members.

Say you wanted to quote from 3 different posts:

At the bottom of Post #1, click "Multiquote"
At the bottom of post #2, click "Multiquote"
At the bottom of post #3, Click "Quote"

This will start your reply post with all three of the other posts already contained within it.

You can type your text before, inbetween, or after the quoted text, but be carefull that you type outside the []'s.

If you want to edit out some of what the others quoted (like I did when quoting you above), make sure the quoted section still ends with [/quote] otherwise it will no longer appear in a 'quote' box.

You'll get there - we all did!
