Help planning a trip to Croatia

I have to thank 3Dice, I've been very lucky lately, and probably should have posted some screenshots. I think I probably should thank 32Red as well, but I got off to a pretty rocky start in June, I'd have to check my stats. Well, I'll thank you anyway, I always expect to lose, and I didn't always lose.

I've decided what I need in my life is a trip... not a vacation, but a trip. And the Dubrovnik and the Dalmation coast seems like just my cup of tea. Might tie in nicely with another European locale or two, but I don't like to travel at too rapid a pace, I like to enjoy things.

I know there are members here living in Croatia, as well as in Italy (gotta luv ferries), and if anyone wants to offer tips/advice or is keen to suss out deals I can't access from here, I'd love their help in planning a trip in September.

I think it would be nifty-keen to meet with some members as well, but I didn't win enough money to meet all of you!

Hey :D

I traveled through Europe some years ago (interrail).

From Norway to Latvia by plane. Then to Belarus, Poland, Slovaka ,Ukraine, Hungary, Croatia and Bosnia by train. And back to Norway by plane from Czech.

We visited Split, Dubvronik and some of the islands around when we were in Croatia. It is a beautiful country and we had a great time there. Lucky you who are traveling to Croatia

You've been to Belarus? :D You should have come over!

Yeah :) We stayed at a hotel called "Orbita" in Belarus (I think it was Orbita). They had a casino, but would not let me in because of my clothing :o It was a 25 days backpacker trip, so I mostly wore t-shirts and shorts :o

What time of year did you visit Rainmaker? I'm hoping to go in September when it is still warm enough to swim in the Adriatic. I see there are lots of ferries to visit various islands, but it's hard to find schedules. I'm hoping that off-peak I won't need reservations and can come and go as I like. I see that many places only have services on certain days.

My dream would be to do a gulet cabin cruise, but the single supplement is a killer! I've joined a women only travel forum hoping maybe I can find someone else to share a cabin with.

If anyone here thinks that is their idea of a good time, pm me and we can talk.

I'm not needing to go back-pack cheap, but I do have a budget. Flights overseas can be very cheap, but you often pay 2-3 times in taxes what the flight costs.

Yes, you must visit some of the islands. We did not reserve anything, just showed up and bought a ticket. But that may vary, depending on destination.

It is best to travel off-peak in my opinion. Especially Dubvronik can be crowded in peak season. I traveled in early summer.

I dug up some photos now. But I only used a couple of disposable cameras on that trip, so I do not have these pictures digitally. And I do not have a scanner, but I used my digital camera now to take pictures....of the pictures :o

This if from Croatia (I think it is from Split). My friend on the pic, we are waiting for a boat.

This is also from Croatia, but I do not remember exactly where. Probably one of the islands. It may be from "hvar".

Change of plans... Heading to Malta

I've now booked my flights, and I've decided to go to Malta instead of Croatia. Some of the same charms without as many stairs.

I'll be there from the 7th to the 15th of September, and I'd be more than delighted to meet with any fellow CM members for a drink and some inside scoop on the country.

Special thanks to relatively new member Jidder for advice on where to stay. Hope we manage to meet while I'm there.

I did quite a bit of research a couple of years ago on Malta since it is such a mainstay in the online casino field. I'd be more than happy to meet with anyone who thinks I might be a valuable addition to their team.

A background in sales, law, government, IT and my 4 years here at CM I think give me a combination of skills that would be an asset to your business.

Contact me by PM for more a more formal CV.
