New Casino Rep Hello folks, just a heads up that Casumo is back on the Forum!

@Mark_Lottomart I watched a debate on Sky racing on Sunday were one of the MP's on the committee looking at changes to the Gambling Act stated that casino's view anyone spending more than £75 a month as a high roller, surely that statement cant be right?
Its looking like there will be a monthly deposit limit of £100 put in place unless customers are willing to go through SOW/SOF checks, but they seemed to think that this may be an automatic process, i.e. soft checks on credit/abnking.
I didn’t see the debate but £75 a month sounds a little low to me to be considered a high roller. Let’s see what the new regulations bring in terms of limits moving forward.

If that does away with the ludicrous withholding of withdrawals for someone who wins 5 figures from a £20 deposit by SOME casinos, I’m all for it.

It’s that sort of stuff that irks people the most.
 
It can’t be ignored.

If an operator receives a bank statement for whatever reason (proof of address, AML, RG) we can’t just turn a blind eye to anything that looks a risk. “Hey Mark here’s my bank statement showing my address of 1 High Street” yet the account is overdrawn and there are markers of harm etc. Everything needs to be taken into consideration.

I know there’s going to be the age old debate of “GDPR” and can and can’t be used, but the reality is that the GC are (correctly) expecting operators to use whatever information we have visibility of to help protect a consumer.
The UKGC doesn’t trump GDPR. GDPR is the law of the land, the UKGC just decides whether you can have a license or not and operate within the UK. The crux of the matter being that the relevant authorities have the legal right to delve deeper into someone’s circumstances without consent…casinos do not.

This being said I do have empathy towards the tight rope that casinos are walking in regards to operating in the UK. I do think the communication between some casinos and the players is not entirely optimal however. I also think that the process becoming more streamlined and automated will greatly help relieve tensions between the operator and players.

That view is sailing quite close to the Mark (pun intended) Mark. Normally under GDPR you can't simply, mid flow, start switching between purposes or transferring consent between them, for example. The wicket starts to get a bit sticky when that happens.

And it's a bit more than an 'aged old debate' with the punitive sanctions for breaching it probably exceeding most fines from the UKGC ;)

From what I see with my account, they’re actually doing the checks in order to apply limits afterwards or close the account or attempt to confiscate the funds. Am I on the right page ?

Isn't the crux of the matter that AML obligations give casinos the consent they need.

As Mark said, under AML regulations and guidelines, casinos are obliged to look into everything they receive to avoid failings and being fined when it comes to auditing. As long as the data is handled under GDPR guidelines, casinos literally have to follow a trail to the source of money.

Yeah - I know for a fact one operator discussing players with a top level person at the UKGC. This person stated explicitly that he/she could not understand why anyone would gamble ANY amount of funds - and was aghast at the people who are actual bona fide high rollers defined by Las Vegas standards.

Getting the UKGC to understand the mindset of gamblers who have self discipline and are trying to enjoy themselves is like getting sex advice from a Catholic priest. :p

Went to reopen my account and they requested everything they'd need for SOW. Sorry but it's just too much effort to provide this when I haven't deposited in about 4 years
Totally understand how this can be very frustrating Toms596. We always want to welcome back returning players who are excited to jump back into the CasumoVerse as soon as possible but we do need to make sure we are complying with UKGC regulations, it is a lot of documents though we get that for sure 😱

I’ve had no problems there in months. Some fairly decent size wins, paid to my bank account within a few hours. Can’t complain.
I tried to re-open my casumo account around a year ago to no avail, no one responded to my tickets, so I gave up.

Casumo was always my go-to casino though, never had any complaints. Stronger forum presence never hurts, either, so good luck on here.

I had my account closed there despite jumping through hoops to complete SoW and being slightly in profit over 5 years. No reason given, just closed it and said the decision is final and irreversible.

Can only assume they have been losing trade, if they decide to return to a battleground that hasn’t been that complimentary towards them in recent history.

In the case of verification, it is a somewhat intricate process and requires personal information to be provided. It would appear that we have put the player's best interest in mind in this scenario and added a limit based on the information provided by the player.

Please note this is solely done for the player and as you can appreciate, there is no gain for Casumo to do this except reassuring the player we have their best interest in mind. However, this is not the end-all and be all as this can be questioned, remedied, and resolved. 💜
