Havent smoked in 5 days

My uncle went into hospital (many moons ago) for a routine operation and he was healthy in every other way, they took organs from him without permission and said he died from syphilis, which is completely untrue, his wife is currently fighting for justice over this, they caused his death and TOOK organs from his body. So this is one of the rare cases, he was 44.

thats terrible. What country is this?

Wont be much of a fight. The hospital is gonna get sued and lose big time. And probably criminal charges too

You'd be surprised sometimes.
I live in (as do you) what's considered a first world country, and here's some personal experiences (btw, our hospital is notorious for its flaws) :

*Misdiagnosed (and drugged) for 12 years for a condition didn't ultimately have
* Broke my back in 4 places in HS (brutal car accident) - sent home for a 'bruised hip' with a call a week later to the effect of 'Eee, see, we read it wrong, and we'd have had you in a body cast...but seeing as it's already started to knit...'
* As recent a one week ago - 'Um, right, apparently we've no files for your last 40 years of medical history as your Dr wasn't digital and used paper copies - but since he died, there's no paper files anymore'

Fun times :)

IM def not surprised. My grandfather passed away in Toronto hospital because they gave him wrong medication for his heart. I mean it is used but should not have been used in that instance.

Some things you can fight and sue for some there isnt a fight. As you know, doctors here need permission before they take any organs from the deceased. They do that, its instant trouble. Thats a big no no.

Some doctors just dont care about their practice to be honest. My 4 year old nephew went into the ER for bad ear infection. ER doc gave prescription for antibiotics. Gave too high of dose and my nephew ended up getting serum poisoning which can be very serious. Thankfully he ended up healing okay after a bit....but come on. How do you misdiagnose a little boy like that. Thats pretty damn simple to get right

You'd think so, right? But we both know, how we wait for an appt, but then it's in/out and how fast we can explain any problems before you're pretty much rushed out for the next patient.

The great thing about free health care..it's free.
The drawback, it's 'adequate' health care. But then, that's its own thread ;)

The UK, Northern Ireland to be precise. Yes my uncle's wife is trying to get his cause of death rectified through the legal process, I don't know about the organ stealing though, what's being done about this I mean.

I havent smoked for over 3 months now! And I can safely say I have completely kicked the habit!

I have even joined a gym and work out 5 days a week. I started that over a month ago.

I feel amazing!!!!!!

Congratulations, that is great on every level - I am impressed lockinlove that is an extremely tough thing to do.

Like you I am able to stay a non smoker but I still miss it badly every day, even years down the line. 3 months on how are you finding the cravings? I handle it by thinking of all the health benefits and money saved everytime I crave

I dont really have cravings anymore. I think between a busy life style and the gym/healthy eating it has squashed them for the most part.

Once in a blue moon I will have a bit of a craving if I have some beers but I just know there is zero chance Ill give in and it quickly goes away. Plus Ive stopped drinking coffee. I had to in order to quit. Because my morning coffee and smoke was my routine. Break the routine. Break the habit

Ahhh yeah now it makes sense and I get you!

Drinking coffee/tea is when my cravings come on as well. I didn't even have a smoking routine as such whilst doing it in the past they just kind of go together. Like alcohol and cigarettes I think they tickle the same areas of the brain hence enhance each other.
Giving up hot caffeine drinks would for sure kill my cravings as well, but I just cant do that - I need something!

One definite smoking "routine" I did break was free spin rounds on slots. In the past whenever I hit the bonus round I would light a cigarette, sit back and enjoy the show. Sometimes I miss that but I managed to break that one and it doesn't trigger a craving these days.

I think what helped me stay cig/nicotine -free, is the memory of how bloody hard it was during those first few days! I never want to go through that again, even though the urge is still with me , 3 years later.

I need to move forward not backwards! At my age of 54 (and also I am overweight), so it helps everyday to say, "No", to the urge.

The gym is a great idea! Good going Lockinlove, for going almost everyday. I have joined a gym and am a liiitle slow in going but I am getting there.;)

I mean, how many 80+year olds do you know that smokes, drinks, is overweight and doesn't exercise?

At least narrow it down:

Quit smoking: check!

Cravings have been killing me recently, very very nearly caved in after all these years several times.

Thankfully I did not and managed to hold it together, but its scary

In your case I think this craving is purely psychological. If you didn't smoke for several years you already did break your phisical addiction and the level of your natural nicotine had been restored. Now the thing to do for you is to find something that you can do instead of smoking (hobby or something). You have to be busy and all craving will be gone.

i can say is its a start to stop smoking for a few days but for me i think smoking is also related to all vices like gambling and drugs when you gamble it will also make you light a cigarrette that is why i think if your trying to quit smoking you should also quit all of your vices that will make you go back to smoking.

Mucho Vegas Casino - non payment of winnings

Hi so I got the ok from support to establish an account with this casino as my flatmate already had one. Support said yes it would be fine.

I went ahead and won a substantial amount and then management closed my account down claiming I was betting higher than allowed ie: $7.50 which in fact is not true. They also claim multiple accounts but I have the evidence confirming I was allowed to open an account. Not sure what else I could do, is there a way I could view my gaming history and will submitting a complaint to Curacao Gaming help as I've read they do not care about players.

Really need your help on this Meisters

It's said to be harder than quitting heroin, but if you make it past the third day, you're pretty golden.
Change the crave to something productive like 5 crunches or eat a 1 calorie mint

@fun4all - my mother always says, she's been a non smoker for 40 yrs but is always just ONE cigarette away from being a smoker again

Anyway, gl

Ohh i agree with your mom... i quit abt 3 times in the past, cut smoking cold turkey then usually after a year or so you get over confident and could be during a night out or a stressful time you think 1 cig wont hurt... well it does. I dont think it applies to everyone, some ppl have more addictive personality traits than others. If i drink a can of coke 3 days in a row i will want one and not anything else the following day adn not only 1 but 3. My last cig has been 31 dec 2014. Good luck to both of us.

Next year will be an entire year without smoking!!!! I did have some puffs of a cigar though when we bought out now house. I like the grape flavored ones once and ahwile.

Money saved $1300!!

Years of life saved? Hmmm not sure.
