I had a really bad cold for the past week and when I have one, the last thing I feel like doing is smoking. So I havent had a smoke for almost 6 days now. Here is my start to quitting. I will admit the last 3 nights I have had serious cravings in the evening but so far been able to resist temptation.

Im on the road to being cigarette free :D,

    Very good...
I am a smoker myself and I did quit in the past...
Stayed off them for well over a year but unfortunatelly I went back on them one night after a few drinks...I know it is a cliché...
Planning to give it another go myself very soon so I hope you will manage to stay off them too...
Be strong and good luck and keep us posted...:thumbsup:

I remember having a fiendishly bad cold back in College and attempting to smoke as per usual. I actually turned green, and laid off them for at least a few days after.

    It's just the worst!

Had the strongest and longest bout of 'man flu' in 10 years plus myself the last few days. Still haven't shifted it fully!

Usually I get rid of a cold within 24 hours and are pretty lucky (touch wood) when it comes to this sort of thing so no real complaints, however like yourself it does make you wanna back right off the ciggies!

I usually smoke about 20 a day :)eek: yeah I know lol) but this week 20 has lasted me since roughly Monday and I am 'nubbing' them early too.

They actually taste disgusting but I just cannot overcome that craving, trouble is I've been in this boat before and I know as soon as my illness is 100% gone and taste buds return etc, then its back to Chuffington Central :(

Good luck and have stronger will power than my weak ass efforts lol

i was able to quit for 3 months last year, i thought is permanent but were 3 months of torture and unhappiness with temptations wherever id go, the lungs never stopped to ask for more and in the end i gave them. now that i've seen how is like, the good and the badest bad, not going to this route again be it health related or economical. you need more than luck, adding patience, worry free, stress free, angry free, to learn drinking coffee without it and become hermit alike. factors like hardness of cigs, how old is the habit and how many around your circle are smokers will be decisive.

You need willpower. Don't let the non smoking brigade fool you, the cravings don't let up . Years and years after my last puff I am still longing hard for a smoke frequently.

That said, it is possible to do it and you will save money and the health benefits are huge. If you manage it you should be extremely proud of yourself. When you have the right motivation and you truly want to do it, you will succeed.

It is just when I read websites that say stuff like "6 months later the cravings should be fully gone" - they have no idea

Good for you, I was off them for nearly all last year (I went off them due to being pregnant:)), stayed off them for 3 months after my wee man was born, then some friends called and they smoke, long story short I started again, and started gambling again over christmas to get a few wins to contribute to our wedding this year:D

It's said to be harder than quitting heroin, but if you make it past the third day, you're pretty golden.
Change the crave to something productive like 5 crunches or eat a 1 calorie mint

@fun4all - my mother always says, she's been a non smoker for 40 yrs but is always just ONE cigarette away from being a smoker again

    Anyway, gl

Thanks! This is exactly how I feel, too!

I quit regular cigs 3 years ago and then the e-cig about 8 months ago. So, I am Nicotine free but the cravings have not gone and my chest still feels heavy BUT I know that I am doing my self a favor.

It's great to know that I can just swap out the cost of cigs per month with a car payment on an Audi or BMW, or whatever your preference is....more savings, more money for gambling..;).

It is hard to do and it does suck when the cravings come on strong BUT THIS IS WHAT IS MEANT TO FEEL LIKE. IT SUCKS!. Just go through it and think it through. Sometimes one has just got to be ready for change.

    Best of luck.

Thanks secret, Sometimes I think I was the only one who still craves years and years down the line!

When I say crave I don't mean very occasionally I mean solidly, everyday. It infuriates me when literature on quitting says these pass in time, for me they have not. However I wanted to quit and still do so it passes. When the cravings come on like you said I think about it - mostly the health benefits and money saved, then it passes until the next time

    Lockin,

I am not a smoker but I know people who have done this recently, and it's not easy.

Continuing the forum fun, I want to add an incentive from 32Red for your efforts. If you make it until the end of the month - $200 cash is yours added to your casino account (if you have one).

I realise this incentive is all about trust. If you don't make it, I would like you to be honest. If you don't make it, I will add $50 to a forum member's account of your choice as long as you publicly admit your failure. :)

    Happy healthy lungs. :)

This is why you're such a great rep/person. Because you post in threads not even related to your casino or gambling for that matter and are genuinely concerned and helpful of other people. You dont see other reps lining up to support other people like that

I will be honest about how I do. And to be even more honest..I think I will make it because of the incentive. Which will mean you will have a helping hand in getting a person to be more healthy and probably live a healthier life.

You are a good person and you should be proud of yourself

That sums up exactly what I was about to comment about Mark. Super guy and super rep for 32red :notworthy

Ps well done on not smoking keep it up mate. And next month if u ever got any bad cravings then there is always vaping as that does not count as smoking. But yeah much better if you can keep total clear but just a suggestion in future. Keep clear of those smelly buggars. I have just stopped 3 days ago only and only doing my vape again now. Hope I will make it proper this time as I did over 6 months last time i tried.... grrr

Or someone who spends too much (spare, honestly boss) time on here. :)

Genuinely though, it's all about paying back and having fun. We (I think that includes a lot of operators) learn a lot from feedback on here - I don't reply to moans of RTP or payout time complaints because that's something I can't control. But if we can add something extra, why not?

However if someone asked me to stop drinking (slurp) there would be $50 going to someone else on here! Good luck to the OP!

Okay I think you need to stop with your drinking Mark hehe.

I have a suggestion instead you could get 0% nicotine vape. You can many different drinks like with Whiskey taste or even Sex on the Beach...(not sure why I mentioned that haha) :D But yeah you get the hint. I think that would maybe help you. :p
