For years I have kept a pretty close tab on new casinos. It just seems as if this year has seen way more "newbies" than I can ever remember.
You can put this down to numerous factors, the most obvious being ease of launching a casino, relative ease to operate and lower entry costs.
This has come about as a result of a number of what I would refer to as "cookie cutter" casino platforms like Every Matrix, Aliquantum and Progressplay to mention but a few. These are mostly hybrid platforms. You get a casino and you run the marketing. They do all the other stuff including processing, player support and so on.
Now I don't want to rubbish these guys. Some of their casinos are good (e/g/ Every Matrix has some real solid brands on their books) but I find it alarming that there are so many of these clones / white labels around the place. I just don't believe that they will all survive. They offer not point of differentiation. They cannot deliver the kind of service that a dedicated support team can. I know enough about outsourced call centre and admin operations from my previous life to know that it's about a basic service level and keeping costs low. I believe that lots of them will get gobbled up or just disappear. That is not good for players.
I don't see this model going away, quite the opposite, but I just don't feel it's going to be a good thing for your industry. It's too easy and relatively cheap.
I'm not making a value judgement on any of these businesses because I don't claim to know much about how they all operate but I can say that if the player experience is going to be anything like the affiliate experience at these casinos I would tread carefully.
