Golden Palace may or may not be using spyware or adware, there are many good reasons to stay away from it, but HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PTECH is a generic PlayTech registry key, which will exist if you install any PlayTech casino.

Question

I have never experienced any problems with my computer at home.

I keep extreme care of which places to visit and what to or not to download.

Anyways, I installed pokertime at work, I also have poker770 here, cdpoker, igotpoker, pokerstars and some casinos which I haven't used in years.

However I only play at pokertime and recently I have been getting tons of pop ups and shit from Party Poker, I have an unfunded account with them that have not used in years... anyone knows why is this happening??? or if Party Poker uses malware or spyware as well?

I know that spyware programs use registry subkeys

What that link shows is that something unrelated to casinos also creates this Ptech key, this explains a lot.

Hi,

Microgaming also shows up as being spyware (or something to that effect. I forget now what the exact wording was, but it definitely came up as being something that the program recommended you delete) on some spy detection or virus detection software.

I'm remembering it came up on "spyhunter" and seems like if I remember correct, that it also came up on the radar on Mcaffee.

I never claimed that e2give was Casino Related Grand master.
You claimed that Golden Palace installs malware. On the basis of the information provided, the situation is the following:
There is a genuine spyware e2give that creates the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PTECH registry key. Playtech casinos also create this registry key, and some anti-spyware programs will make a false positive detection.

F-secure claims, quoting Lavasoft that "Installs unsolicited, no uninstaller provided." This has never been my experience. Online casinos may well be undesirable in corporate environment, but there is no explanation how MG casinos are supposed to harm my computer except for taking up 1/2 GB disc space.

Spyware

Casinos are on the spyware lists as many use forceful tactics to get a download to a user's PC. Usually, it is on the basis of opting OUT of the download when all you wanted to do was visit the site out of curiosity. A few simply dump an installer to the desktop without the users knowledge. Even the reputable ones are increasingly using "download helpers" rather than simply providing a link to the actual executable for the casino, these do anything but HELP!! They hinder something chronic, leaving casino "crap" in system folders, even after uninstalled, and sometimes causing technical problems that would NOT happen if the browser was allowed to handle the download itself as intended. Broadband users really have no need for download accelerators anyway, it's always quicker direct.

Some may say that the download helper is simply a tool to manage the installation of the auxiliary "spyware" to go with the casino.

Genuine malware will use a registry key that is considered "OK" as a means of disguise. A casino key is a good place to hide on a home PC, as a player may allow the key to remain believing it to be for the casino they use.

It is not a false positive and I can prove it if some one can tell me how to take pictures on my computer.
