I don't 'belong' to the left insofar as the current Labour Party even is the left, it's far more centrist IMO.
Mrs Chopley was a card carrying (fully paid up!) member of the Labour Party when Corbyn was leader, but she left once the direction of travel under Starmer became clear.
I've been pretty unenthusiastic about Starmer since day one, if you're minded to, do a forum search on the word 'Starmer' under my username, from my very first mention of him I wasn't exactly a fan.
I did get more optimistic around the time of the election as I was just so thrilled at the prospect of seeing the back of the Tories, who I genuinely believe represented fourteen of the worst years of government the UK has ever had, and I thought that at the very least Labour would be competent. (And I think you could make that case now, something can be competently done without us liking what the thing is.)
I made this post over in the Brexit thread the other week, if these sound like the words of someone who's fully on board with what's going on at the moment, I don't know what to tell you

Labour still have a big chance with their first budget next month, I'm still daring to hope that they'll make a positive move on wealth inequality with that budget, but if Mr and Mrs Average take it in the neck again (as they did for 14 years under the Tories), then my patience will be wearing very thin.
That said, I still think they'll be better than the Tories, but that's a very low bar to cross.
