Games that deserve a sequel..........

So we've had Thunderstruck, Avalon, The Dark Knight, Tomb Raider, Jack Hammer, South Park and Girls with Guns (possibly others too).

Think these games are deserving of sequels or have game mechanics which potentially haven't been fully explored:

Immortal Romance: Wouldn't want the graphics changing at all but, arguably, the best slot of all time must deserve a sequel.

Starburst(!): Much as I hate the current version, it's a simple game and I think there's room for an equally simple, higher variance version. Maybe 1024 / 2048 ways.

Beach: Given it's the only game (I think) with the symbol swapping feature, think there's a lot more scope to have this feature enhanced to multiple symbols / multiple octopuses etc.

Terminator 2: Don't think nearly enough was made of this franchise. Definitely needs a sequel (perfect time with the new film out) with more film related content in it (like The Dark Knight) and more random reel features. Current version is just a waste of a licence imho.

It would be lovely to see at least a couple of these in development in the future!

Aliens should get a mention. I think it deserved far more than we got.

I do believe that if it ain't broken, don't fix it. So in essence I would have to leave Immortal Romance as it is (no sequel)

Game of Thrones is also in dire need of a rethink. Keep the stacked wilds (which are great of course) but abolish those godawful, tame symbols and inject some life into it!

Another Rhyming Reels game would be cool also.

Perhaps a sequel to Reel Steal would be welcome, one that doesn't brutalize the player quite as much as well :eek2:

Be careful what you wish for, with the crap thats coming from Netent at the moment they will never think of anything original and just spew out Sh*tburst 2, 3, 4 Twin Spin 2,3 etc and drown us in direness!!
Though I wouldnt mind seeing Dead or Alive 2, The Bandits Revenge!!!

Starburst already has a sequel, cleverly (or maybe not so) disguised as Stickers or Neon Staxx, both have similarities and both are rubbish!

I tend to prefer sequels to 'new' ideas, loved Thunderstruck II when it was first released and played it daily at various casinos, sure I wasn't the only one and sure MG spotted this, so why they never capitalized with further sequels is beyond me, especially if there is no move/licencing tie in.

If they could release more sequels I think players may stray away from their 'tried n trusted' I know I would!

I'd panic if Immortal Romance II arrives as players would jump at this due to the success of its predecessor, thus taking play away from the original and making it 'colder' than it is already these days!

Seeing as Thunderstruck got the re-vamp, seems only fair the ladies' clone sees a new treatment - Ladies Nite. There's Playboy for the guys, so perhaps a similar touch but a la Magic Mike or some such.

Juarassic II and III can skip right to Jurassic World.

Hopefully there's a monatorium on Breakaway clones before we scrape the barrel with lawn darts.

^^ Agree wholeheartedly. I think the sensible way for MGS to handle this would be to try a different engine on another game and if successful, only then do an IR 2 with a proven model. In fact, the original benefited similarly from TS2, fixing some fundamental flaws, like Shitstorm revealing from l-r only and spoiling the surprise and rarely giving more than 2 reels of wilds, plus placing the wilds near high-pay symbols for bigger win potential.

Game of Thrones is also in dire need of a rethink.

Yeah agree with this too. It's on it's way to being a very good game but the fact you can only really win with lots of wilds makes it too boring. Plus the feature could use some variation or better options.

Great ideas there too.

I'd add Hitman to the list. A good game that never quite fulfilled it's potential.

Isis would be a good one too. Feeling it's a age a bit but a great game.

My dream game sequels would be as follows.

Raging Rhino 2

Bruce lee 3

dead or alive 2

and were the hell is Zeus 2 to play online????

All of the above, and @ the bold part: Exactly... have been wondering for quite a while now too!

My own additions to this list would be:

A version of Wizard of Oz with all reels wild and more goodies.

Break Da Bank Again/Ultimate (sticky x5 wilds anyone? :p)

But I could think of a ton of games that would be awesome with just a slight alteration:)

Just a thought but does the fact that this thread is running prove that the latest batches of new releases have been so underwhelming that we are hankering for enhancements to slots already out there that we play day in day out? Maybe the developers need to get their thinking caps on and come up with some new slots that do grab our attention.

I can only really recall one slot whose sequel was at least equal to its predecessor, and that would be Thunderstruck 2. It managed to be completely different yet still retained a good paytable and was far more accessible.

DOA, as much as I toyed with the notion of a follow-up, is borderline the perfect slot. Though we love to hate it, the core principles of it are flawless in their simplicity. In fact, despite punters thinking sequels to their favourite slots would improve on the originals, I believe many, if not all would end up being cheapened, dumbed down clones of their forefathers with terrible paytables.

Really what we ought to be asking is which slots need a massive re-skin a la Adventure Palace, Centre Court etc.

DOA needs a new lick of paint, but keep it the same.

Popular games don't need sequels as such as there is nothing gameplay -wise that can really be improved on. Therefore I believe the only games worth mentioning are botched licenses such as Terminator 2, Aliens, GoT et al or obscure 'classics' that no one really plays, to bring them back into players' consciousness.

So slots that really do need a sequel of sorts would be the ones that aren't so hot to begin with. You're only bound to improve it. I mean look at slots like......Shoot (!?)......surely nobody would actually play this for real!

Hmm, I strongly disagree and I find it a little bit hard to take your comment seriously. Please tell us what all the similarities are for these slots?

Starburst: 10 lines - Win 2 Ways - Stacked symbols - Expanding & Sticky Wilds - Max win per spin 500x
Stickers: 20 lines - Sticky Wilds - Max win per spin: 400x
Neon Staxx: 40 lines - Scatters/Free spins - Stacked/Super Stacked symbols - Max win per spin: 400x

Sound and Graphics are also totally different (At least Stickers vs. the two others)...

Is it the Max win potential you are referring to when you say these slots are about the same and even call one of them a sequel to starburst?

I feel there is a huge trend to throw a bunch of crap at all Net Ent's new releases, I agree that many of the new games could be a lot better, but they are still pretty unique games, and none of them are replicas!? How long was it since Net Ent made a replica for a previous slot? - Maybe some of the trash talking should be directed to Microgaming, which loves to release 2-3 similar slots at the same time and just use a slightly different theme on them.

Each to their own I suppose, the similarities, along with similar differences have been explained previously in another thread so I wont repeat in full. I will briefly mention Starburst has sticky wilds, do the Stars not expand and then generate a respin(thus 'sticking'), doing it again if another star lands?

I guess I must just prefer Microgaming, unless someone who can point me in the direction of a Netent slot which can pay me £2,430 from a 0.30p bet maybe?

In relation to slots needing a 'makeover' some do some don't. Adventure Palace as mentioned earlier was one of, if not possibly my favourite game, since it went HD I don't think I've even played it more than 10 spins in one session.

Other members have said too 'Please leave thunderstruck, AJB, Spring Break alone' and I agree, lets not fix something which is not broken.

Yeah i forgot about oz. Definitely within the next year or so WMS will bring another oz slot to the online market. Hopefully the road to emerald city one that they have in Vegas.

The mention of Vegas has triggered my memory too.

Never been btw lol but have watched many a video, LOVE the look of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and also the Walking Dead slots.

Be fantastic if there were online version even if small changes had to be made but I fear licencing would probably cost way too much to make it worthwhile for any provider.

Would love to see some of these land based slots make the transition to online. Can't imagine it's a licensing issue as we have just about every theme going as it is, nor can I envisage any logistical reason why these games could not run on any average desktop.

Even if downloads for these games would take up astronomical space, I for one would happily alternate between ten of these games than have 200+ Amiga- esque clones.

Probably just boils down to Flash being overworked and inadequate as it is, laziness on behalf of current providers to actually emulate these games and the negative impact this would likeky have on land based profitability.

Personally I would like to see an original slot with cool features that actually has a decent pay table and therefore a massive hit potential to a sequel to any game that is out there right now.

The only sequel slots that have been released so far that are any good in my opinion are Avalon II and Thunderstruck II. Avalon II may lack in the features department but has huge potential in the base game.

I also like the themes and uniqueness of the new Netent games but boy do those pay tables suck therefore taking all the fun out of playing the slots.

So please games providers give us something new, interesting and a decent table that will allow some of us to have something worthy of the mega screenshots thread that is not Dead or Alive. I don't ask for much:p

I would suggest that the slots don't have online versions is more to do with the licensing agreement... Most of the 'big brands' are owned by US companies & as we know, online gaming isn't welcomed with open arms. Add to that, a lot of the movie / TV based games will have a requirement to have the character / actors as reel symbols - something the actors may not agree to.

Then there's also a possible issue of one company having the land-based license for the game & another separate company having the online license... Each of these licenses could have very different terms and it could be that the best options / graphics / etc are already monopolised by the first licensee (land-based), leaving very few options for what the second licensee (online) can do with the game. Unless the brand is massive, there may be very little appetite to do something in these circumstances. (Not saying it has happened here, but a good example can be seen with 'Game of Thrones'... both offline and online slots are great, however online lacks the characters from the books / TV).

When any licensed game is launched online, it is usually accompanied by additional contracts and obligations for the company producing the game, and operators wishing to put it on their site. Not to mention the likelihood that these games will also come with an extra few % on fees. If these are considered alongside the actual cost to produce the new game, (as well as any possible limited term of licence), then the risk/reward equation may just be too skewed & it doesn't make commercial sense to do it.

I think it is more because there are so many new games, the brands and sequels stand out more.

For those wondering why there is no Zeus 2, there is a land based slot machine, but for some reason WMS have not released it online. This might be that it is quite similar to the original Zeus and maybe didn't warrant a version for online.

What's really odd about this is that they did actually develop an online version and I played it.
