Gambling Federation Malware

Nope, as usual you have it "all wrong" Amandajm/Joeyl. And I sincerely hope you are not suggesting that my palm has been greased by some of these lowlifes?

I don't normally trouble to respond to your rather ill-informed, anonymous and often convoluted jibes because I do believe you are merely a sidelines stirrer who does a lot of talking and moralising but is not renowned for actually getting out and making things happen.

This time I was provoked into responding because I, too thought your innuendo was aimed at this site - you hang out with some people (probably those you refer to above) who have consistently tried to paint a totally unwarranted corrupt picture of our host here. And many of them are far from paragons of virtue. Given your lack of significant activity, however you are possibly close LOL.

My decision to syndicate my weekly news column to Sports 911 is none of your concern and if you put your ridiculous vendetta with Chris Costigan to one side you might see that he does contribute to this industry for all his brash style and imo occasionally ill-advised associations.

I suspect that your continual whining about his site has more to do with his impatience in dealing with you than anything else.

I don't happen to share his positive view on Virtual, or for that matter Golden Palace and we have exchanged opinions on that several times. That is neither here nor there, and your ad nauseum nagging about the InfoPowa column appearing on his site is of little interest to either of us.

To interrupt an important discussion like this with your petty comments is typical. I'll not give them the credibility of further response.

No need to stir the shit when this is needless. And it derails the thread. Thanks for your understanding and support.

Looks like jetset neglected to read that part.

I disagree... Sting (Chris Costigan) is a considered a JOKE in this industry.

There is a school of thought abound that Jetset is afforded more latitude when it comes to such remarks

Seems that way on many occasions.

There are some conceptual parallels here with the Lake Palace / Ecogra incident; that the issue may have been rectified is meaningless - obviously GFED were going to pull the malicious software the moment they were rumbled on a premiere forum. That isn't the issue - the issue is that it was done in the first place, and with clearly malicious intent.

I've already posted about quite extraordinarilly statistically improbable results at Gambling Federation; now we have malicious software installation by Gambling Federation - has the point got itself across yet? Have we FINALLY come the conclusion that Gambling Federation are crooks?

Thanks to Bryan for sending out that newsletter warning; now let's just BACK IT UP with some action and get Gambling Federation consigned to the shit-pit were they belong.

The next time you try to agree with me, do better and don't wrap it in bluster.

As previously stated
“We have issued an update that removes those changes in the host file.
To install the repair simply open the Gambling Federation casino software and let it load up; it prompts you for an update, let it install the update.
Once the software restarts the host file will be repaired.”

And how about those, who don't play anymore/want play anymore in GF casinos or don't know about your STUPID actions at all, etc, etc

Do you think, that all GF players or EX-players read gambling forums?

And i'm not sure what is average percent, who actually read/explore different gambling forums regularly. Jetset/Bryan probably know better.
But about all who gambling online, i guess, it is quite small group, who read/explores different gambling forums.

So, only way is... you will publish your actions someway, or we have to do your dirty job... report to Spybot, Ad-aware, Symantec, etc, etc

Like ezc3m already did...

Again, we deeply apologize for this situation, we understand your frustration.

If ever you are still experiencing problems, please contact me by private message or post in the forum, I'll assist you.

Through the years, I,ve visited all of the main gambling forums on a pretty consistant basis, but to this day I cannot ever remember ever seeing a winning screenshot or a post by anyone claiming to have hit a jackpot at any GF casino. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

I was wondering if someone who had decent PC security (ie: Norton or similar) tried to download this casino. Would Norton not pre-scan prior to installing and alert possible malicious content

the nerve of some!

Just wanted to give a big thanks to the casinomeister and posters. I had tried to access the blackjack table for months now, and could never get through. I always thought it was a problem with the site. As for FEDERATION, I am insulted and angry at my time you choose to make me waste. If you were have a problem with spam (lol) and your customers, I WAS DEFINATELY NOT A DEPOSITOR WITH YOU AND WILL NEVER BE, you might have limited your invasions to customers who choose to deposit with you. :( :sniper: :icon_twis :(

psst: to the post above, I have my norton and spybot on all the time, but I also approved this download

I have to snicker when I think of a couple years back when at least one Gambling Federation casino was usually in the top 5 list of "Most Honest Casinos" listed at Gambling.com .

(but then again.. I also remember that they were the ones who would offer free bonus money to their members who voted for them as #1 in several categories. )

It would only alert if it was known malicious code, unless heuristic scanning was enabled to look for code that looks like it may be malicious. I don't know what exactly the heuristic scanner looks for, and how easy it would be to find the code in an executable file that modifies the hosts file.

I assume that Canada has some laws against computer hacking, maybe someone from Canada can prosecute G-FED.

Statement from Flaviano - CEO of Gambling Federation
Dear Members of the Forum

Gambling Federation would like to offer our response to issues raised in the Casinomeister forum entitled, Gambling Federation Malware.

While our actions were not justified, readers of this message thread should know that Gambling Federation is a victim of an orchestrated attack to mislead our players. Over the past few months, we received numerous complaints from our players enquiring about unsolicited promotional e-mail delivered to a players e-mail address that was used only to communicate with Gambling Federation casinos. After reviewing the complaints from our players, it become apparent that one of our ex-employees was inappropriately and unethically stealing part of our player list, contacting our players and promoting non-Gambling Federation casinos.

We recognize that are actions were based on emotive judgment; we reacted to an unethical attack by applying the same philosophy with which our company was unfairly attacked. Regardless of our reasoning, we would like to extend our apologies to the investors and employees of Gambling Federation and in particular all our players and affiliates that have contributed to the success of our company over the years.

Gambling Federation continues to be committed to the free market and responsible business practices. We are also convinced that time will clearly demonstrate that we were in fact a victim in this matter. We will never use and have never used any tactics toward a legitimate and reputable competitor, like the vast majority of our competitors.

We want also like to thank our colleagues and associates that have communicated, publicly and privately, their support for Gambling Federation over the past few days.

To Begin with, the computer on my desk belongs to me. ITS NOT YOUR PROPERTY Flaviano Fogli

Its not my fault that Gambling Federation is not responsible enough to keep their customer or credit card information in a safe place. You should contacted your former employee months ago...

If I constantly get spam or unsolicited mail for a non wanted sender I just simply block him, if problem persist I report it to the proper authority. (NOT YOU)

What you did is UNETHICAL unless the player has given Gambling Federation explicit permission to do so. Absent explicit permission, this practice should be banned and Gambling Federation should be black listed in the entire web.

Creating a malicious program Flaviano Fogli is not a standard business practice its invasion of privacy.

Who are you ? who gave you permission To violate my privacy right, its not you who decides which websites my wife and I can have access to.

This is one of those rare occasions when Caruso and I share a view -Gambling Federations's latest explanation is astonishing in its almost casual acknowledgement of a stunning lack of ethics and professionalism in covertly inserting malware on to the computers of (presumably) thousands of unsuspecting members of the player community.

I can't agree with this gratuitous and irrelevant dig at eCOGRA, though: "There are some conceptual parallels here with the Lake Palace / Ecogra incident"

I don't see any conceptual parallels between a flawed third party adjudication on a complaint, which was subsequently reversed in favour of the player by a more senior executive of the same body and this blatant, almost criminal conduct by GF.

Yup, nice summary on the part of Greedy Girl. I couldn't have said it a lot better, either.

Damn! They went down faster than the Titanic! I bet they'll be giving out great bonuses next week! (to play on software where nobody wins)

HOSTS file

I have come accross this sneaky trick before. It can be prevented by 1) Making a backup copy of your CLEAN hosts file in , say, hosts.txt. This will enable a 'dirty' one simply to be deleted and overwritten with the backup. This happened to my 70 year old uncle, and I was able to get his access back!
2) Set the file attributes of your hosts file to READ ONLY, nothing will be able to modify it in a simple manner, as it will have to reset the attributes first, and Windows will probably prompt for permission anyway.
3) Have a suite of spyware programs, as none is perfect. I usually run AdAware, and then Spybot S&D, and a2 for good measure. S&D usually gets a couple of hits that AdAware has missed. The latest S&D does have something to check for malware in the HOSTS file!
4) Use the trick against the perpetratiors, replace 'theblackjacktable' with the relevant gambling federation site - you will never be able to download their casinos again, and neither will anyone else using your PC.

If you have need to clean this file first, the installation CAB files will contain the original clean one that came with the system (finding it is a problem though). OR, simply cut & paste the example of a clean hosts file posted earlier in the thread into your own.

The reaction of the IGC and the iGGBA will now be interesting.

I emailed iGGBA about Gambling Federation and iGlobal when they first joined a while ago but they didn't even reply.

Yeah - I know a number of people who felt strongly enough about this whole GFED affair to email the IGC, too. As far as I am aware that body has not said anything yet, but that may be because they are framing an official response over the weekend.

However, thinking about it the decent thing for a CEO caught in this sort of situation to do would be to offer his resignation. It happened on his watch, and it is a very serious lapse of corporate morals and ethics for which he must carry the can.
