The city of Birmingham is to be used as a base to trial the new maximum stake limit of £2 on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals. This is in advance of the new legislation which becomes law on 1st April this year.

So in essence they’ve found a loophole in that it’s costing you £2 a time, but it’s set to only award the fortune spin at those values.

SG have set the RTP to 94%, which is quite generous for land based, probably to get the punters on board.

A friend of mine manages for one of the big bookies and they are desperately trying to get as many of the high rolling roulette players to switch over to slots as they possibly can. Offering cash match deals, free vouchers etc. They may persuade a few but ultimately this change will cost the industry millions of pounds. I personally have no sympathy at all. As far as I can see they were given license “carte blanche” to make hay while the sun shone and they bailed every field available. Destroying people’s lives and tearing families apart in the process. If they had been regulated properly from the start it may not have come to quite such severe measures but they and the providers had their cake and they ate it.

One of the Live Casino suppliers, Authentic Gaming, is launching a mobile roulette product, called Bookies Roulette. It's auto live roulette.

Because it's online there is no restrictions on bet size. They are obviously hoping to target punters in betting shops by launching this alternative.

It's a clever marketing ploy that makes a mockery of the restrictions being placed on the FOBT's.

It will be interesting to see which bookies take the product and advertise it in their shops.
