Our forum is a magnet that attracts a myriad of personalities. A basic element of human nature is our emotions, and at times our emotions can get the best of us. When this happens, the best course of action is to respond like a Vulcan - but unfortunately, not many people have pointed ears here.

The moderators and I refuse to babysit grown adults, but we will step in when members flout the rules on harassment and flaming. The thing is, we cannot police the forum 24/7. It's usually after the smoke is clearing that the moderators and/or I can only come in and dish out spankings. This can be complex since some bad behavior stems from a build up of pressure which leads to a verbal explosion. It can be difficult and time consuming to sift through scores of threads to determine who is being abused and who is out of line.

POLICY HENCEFORTH
If someone has a go at you (you are flamed, harassed, mobbed or made to feel uncomfortable) we ask you to ignore the comment and report the post. This also goes for abusive PMs and inappropriate "thanking". The moderators and I will review the comment and decide how to proceed including taking whatever action is warranted against the member who is exhibiting unacceptable behavior. Actions may include "infractions", suspensions, spankings or banishments.

If however you choose not to report the post and respond to the offending post publicly, then you have assumed the responsibility for responding and waived your right to request moderator intervention. But please bear in mind that depending on how you respond, you too could receive a trip to the house of pain! In such an instance, the moderators or I will intervene as we see fit or when other members start to get fed up with it all. Whichever comes first!

For the benefit of the forum and those members who have no interest in watching people argue in public, we would prefer you to not rise to the bait, to report the post and let us deal with it.

Simply put - do not violate rule 1.1 - No "Flaming": Please do not post any messages that harass, insult, belittle, threaten or flame another member or guest. Abusive behavior will not be tolerated and your account may be suspended. Please refrain from potty mouth language.

If it happens to you: report it, don't participate in it.

Flamming

It's really sad when you have to actually post a rule such as this among grown adults. Some people must lead pretty boring lives in order to have to resort to trash talking others over something that we all obvisiously like to do for entertainment and relaxation(casinos). Those people should look up political forums and go to town there and let us have our fun.
Don't come here and ruin a good thing where people like myself can find helpful, useful, and informative subjects on an industry that becomes more enjoyable with knowledge provided by (and voluntarily) it's members. Kudos to everyone that runs and maintains this site and to it's members who provide us with useful and often entertaining information related to gambling and casinos.

flaming and harrassing

good idea thnks money tends to bring out the worst in us sometimes especially when it is being withheld from us for no reasons it is good to vent but not at others expense.

Every forum has the same problem there will always be tempremental members and those members who believe the forum is theirs.

No matter what rules you post people will not change believe me I have seen it time and time again the main things that cause the problems are people who don't like newcomers as they think "I have been here longer and therefore my opinion is superior" and people who just come along looking for a row because it makes them feel better it's just a form of bullying.

No matter what rules you post people will not change ....

While I agree that Rules alone won't change things I do believe that pro-active forum management will, and does.

I've been managing and moderating casino forums for over a decade now -- some success, some oh-so-very-not -- and seen things go both ways. One thing seems to remain true though: absentee forum management is a recipe for disaster. That said being a forum nazi yields equally unsatisfactory results. Fair but firm with a healthy serving of open-mindedness seems to be the way to go.

It also happens quite often in the average work place where people are supposed to work hard for their money. Good rule!

I presume it is OK for us to report such posts even if NOT directly addressed to ourselves?
e.g. We see a member bullying or belittling another member in a way which we find uncomfortable to read.

Some people must lead pretty boring lives in order to have to resort to trash talking others over something that we all obviously like to do for entertainment and relaxation(casinos). Those people should look up political forums and go to town there and let us have our fun.
Some people just can't help themselves, and/or might not even recognise that they are doing it!
That's all I have to say on this matter.

I have to agree with you on this.
The thing I say is "People Talk Trash Behind A Keyboard" And they would never meet you face to face.
To many the keyboard is the best friend they have.
If you see something report it and let it take it's course by the right people.(The Mods & Bryan)
Always think positive & never think on negativity because life is so dam short.

And also on the positive side on this.
You see new members taking part in this thread.
I do have to say Welcome to Bryan's place here at Casinomeister's.

Affirmative. Reporting a post is designed to bring any post to the attention of the moderators or me - by anyone for any (reasonable) reason. Just don't go crazy with it. :D

I agree. There are as many personalities as we have posters. Some have varying writing skills - about 40% are non-native English speakers and everyone communicates differently. Some of us come across either grumpy, brisk, or cheeky without even knowing it. Suddenly someone lashes out with an FU and you wonder where it came from.

Funny how people are. I find a person to be out of line with their post and then a couple people I respect thank the same member. Surprised the heck out of me. Then, I decided I must have been wrong.

Thought some more and said, nope, I am not wrong.

We all interpret things differently. That's the challenge of moderating or participating in a forum.
