False Debit Card - Pending Transaction

Hi All,

I have a prepaid Allaccess card, a couple of days ago I went and loaded $50 on it, when I tried to deposit at a casino it was denied, so I checked my blance on the debit card. There is a pending transaction from one of the processors the casino uses. Netspend says it is from the 15th. It took talking to like three people at the casino to make them understand my problem. They show no pending transaction for me. They are telling me that when Netspend reconciles thier records it will be taken care of! I tried to tell them, this will not happen until thier processor either cancels the transaction or allows the charge on me, until then my money is just locked in, going nowhere. So, far they have not responded to my last email explaining that the processor needs to take care of this. There should not be such a thing as a pending transaction on a prepaid debit, right?

Thanks!

Your card will show pending transactions for casinos until (1) they actually run them through or (2) they don't run them through and they fall off. It's kinda like if you use your card at a gas station and they charge you $50 for $30 in gas. The $50 will show in pending until the $30 actually hits. Usually takes 3-5 days.

Or at least this is the way my card works. I have 3 pending transactions from last night. They will be gone in a couple of days.

You can have the casino get in touch with Netspend and cancel the transactions but that might not be a good idea because of the US laws.

Why did they not take your card? My card works at all of them so far but it is a reloadable card.

But, what aggrevates me is, even if it is going to clear itself up, right now I have $50 on a card that I cannot use. If I had an outstanding debit, then I should have had a negative balance on my card before I reloaded it.

Laurajim, I don't know who the mods are, but if one reads this and feels that it should be moved, please do!

Thanks,

Generally speaking stuff about how to get things done money-wise in the US is moved to the "America..." forum so that it's only seen by members. I think that's what LJ was suggesting.

yes it can happen it happened to me for 25.01 and it took over 7 days for it to go back into my account and it was due to netspend not the casino so just hold on and it should be put back in

Actually, this is the rules Visa has set, not Netspend....Netspend is required to hold these funds for 5 days before they're released....

But, you can definitely blame this on the processor. If they knew that a charge isn't going to go through, the funds shouldn't have been pre-auth'd*....I had this happen when I tried to order ink for my printer several months ago - the charge didn't go through because I was using a gift card and my address wasn't registered with it....but yet it still showed up as "pending" for a week. I called Netspend and they said there's nothing they can do.

*They'd certainly know if it wasn't going to go through, based on a code they get from the bank....at which point they should have cancelled the transaction before trying to pull the funds out.

they held up funds forever on me thats why i took winbigs advice and went to wired plastic awhile back, havent had one problem yet, at one time netspend had over 400.00 pending and it was really a nightmare for me as they were blaming everyone but themselves, imo i have no use for netspend, but with the limited depositing and withdrawal options we have in the u.s. i guess we should be thankful for it.....................laurie:)

Our good mate robwin is on the right track there. Laurie ask the casino to get onto there accounting depsrtment and ask them to do a DIALECT search. both visa and mastercard have this option. Your monry is in limbo halfway between the casino and your payment processor. you can either ask tyhe casino to ring your bank and requesting they cancel the transaction ( you will need the reference number of the transaction) they should be able to locate the funds and cancel it so it goes back to your card. If not then the casino can say pls allow the transaction and it should also work. I bet the customer service team are not aware of this. It is the accounts department that will probably know.

........my problem has been cleared up for some time with netspend, but not with the o.p ,when my problem came about with them i did all that and then some, i can understand the o.p being so upset, its no good feeling to have money out there floating around, and if you tell netspend its for gaming if your in the u.s , it seems to make matters worse....................laurie

same_old, that's the thing, there is no record of the transaction at the casino. Not even a rejected transaction. No pending transactions, nada!

Thanks, everyone. It's seven days now, since Netspend is saying the hold was requested. I will wait three more days and see what happens.

p.s. Laurajim, I didn't mean to sound rude about moving the thread! Hope you didn't take it that way!

when i called netspend about it they took it off the 25.01 and put it back into my account until they found out it was for a casino then they took it out again and told me i would have to wait and i did for over 7 days. the casino told me that once they find out it was not going to go thought they would put it back. the casino was more helpfull then netspend was.

The casino responded today to my last email. They keep telling me once the transaction goes through to have Netspend send me a statement and they will go from there. First problem is, is the transaction ever going to go through, I have no pending deposits at the casino. Second problem is, if it ever does go through, we are talking about a lot of time going by before we even move to the next step of fixing this! I am really frustrated and I do feel like it is up to the casino to resolve this and now! It's thier processor that has this pending charge hanging on and nothing can be done until they either take it off or send it through.

Do you mind saying which casino is putting you through this torture?

Wow...it's rare to hear anything bad about allslots...

I know and I have made lots of deposits and a couple of withdraws and not had any problems at all. My withdraws were quick and painless. I really feel like they are just not understanding that the processor is the one who needs to make a move here! As far as Netspend sees it, I have a transaction pending, and it either needs to be canceled or sent through.

I'm guessing that you're from the USA?

Unfortunately, any casino that works with processors that will accept transactions from those of us here in America are at the processors' mercy...I really doubt there's much that allslots can do...

well here we go again

well, maybe you are supposed to bake cookies today.............

As I said in another thread, the Netspend gift cards are dissapearing fast. At least where I live. I actually drove all over Long Island today trying to find one.

I found some for $100 but I know myself and would gamble it all in one session! Finally I found a $25 (Netspend) card. So I was happy.

I also purchased a card that they have been replaced with (not Netspend) and tried it but even though you register the card for online purchases, it was rejected. It's called "The gift of choice" and it's by a company called "gift card mall".

I guess I will have to puchase the reload card. It was just so much easier to pick up a gift card for exactly what I wanted to spend and not have to use WU.

Hey ballysdb.........I have a netspend reloadable and I get it loaded for 1.95 at Murphy's gas station. Ahhh I just checked......Murphy's is not in NY.
I've loaded it at other places and the price does vary with WU being the most expensive option. Maybe you can find some other gas chain that has them. Murphy's is known for being near Walmart, so maybe what ever chain is near Walmart up there offers a cheaper reload fee.

i just had been so happy with my wired plastic, never any problems till now, i guess i should be happy to have atleast 2 depositing methods even though i still dont understand all this pending stuff. i guess it will clear soon and i will treat it like its in a rainy day fund to use later on., suze was prolly right shoulda baked some damn cookies:D.............laurie

How did u load your money? I'll assume it was cash.

I would say this is an issue between your processor and the place you reloaded your card, the casino had nothing to do with it.

Some processing systems dont seem to talk to each other. Assuming you used cash, its pending between the place you reloaded your card and the actual card company. If it happens again, get the place you loaded the card to call the card company direct & it should clear within the hour

Hi Gary, No the money was on my card, it just wasn't available to me. That is what didn't make sense, I never had a negative balance, but when I loaded my card there was this pending charge that was from days before. I don't know how or why it happened, never happened before. But, it's all straightened out now!

Im glad its sorted. Its the same process though, If it happens again, just go through that process. It should go through. Its possible some companies are bouncing their funds through a few different countries for whatever reason but it should still clear pretty quickly

It's really frustrating when this happens, a charge pending that's not clearing up like normal pending charges do. But it happens, and could happen with any casino, and not just with Netspend. I've had it happen with Green Dot, Netspend and Wired Plastic, and not just with casinos. It even happened to me when I tried to use my credit card to pay for a Western Union from the Western Union website once. I had unused funds held up in pending for 2 weeks before they became available again.

Your credit card, Netspend/Greendot/Wired Plastic, whatever... should have a specific time limit they hold authorizations before the authorization will expire. Usually it's about 7-10 business days. You can ask them how long before their authorization expire, or find it in their FAQ sometimes.

Thank god this doesn't happen very often. But it happens sometimes by some internet fluke.

I try and avoid this by making sure I don't have much else if any other programs open, when I'm trying to make a deposit. And once I start the transaction I don't touch anything on my computer until the transaction is complete.

I was surprised to see some people post that they mentioned gaming/casinos to Netspend. I would never in a million years give them any clue that any transactions are online gambling related. Not living in the U.S. anyway. That's just asking for trouble.

......i think thats what happened in my case daera, the lady at wired plastic started naming off all the casinos i had deposited with in the past, its kinda hard to explain that 3 dice . com and slot o cash casinos are not online gaming places, but i did have other everyday charges such as for gas and at krogers(grocery store).wired plastic and netspend know what people are using the cards for imo. and could be using this as an excuse, to cover their own asses.........just a thought............laurie

I hear ya. I'm glad I've escaped the 20-questions from these cards so far. I know plenty of people that have been asked what their charges are for, trying to get them to fess up I guess.

We sure have to jump through a lot of hoops now, if we want to gamble online and we live in the U.S. I hate it!
