A casino, not currently accredited but I believe closely associated to some which are, which shall have to remain nameless for now has repeatedly sent me emails stating:

"You have free spins waiting".

This suggests to me that FS are currently available and pending on my account. This is an inducement to open their mail to find out on which game these are available.

On doing so, on each recent occasion I'm told that to qualify i must make a deposit.

My opinion is that this is an underhand, sleazy tactic and utterly unacceptable.

I have put the casino in question on notice that unless they stop doing so, I will have no alternative but to report them to the UKGC.

I'm sure some of you have also received these emails, are you in agreement, what are your views on this practice?

That's Dunder you're talking about and you're not alone. We hate it the rest of us also.
I've responded to those emails three times. Last time I simply unsubscribed from all of their emails and sms, and let them know I won't be playing more until they stop.
They defend themselves with that they are telling the truth inside the email:rolleyes:

Hi,

i know which emails you mean recieve them often from some Microgaming Casinos (CrazyVegay , Riverbelle) .The headline offers you freespins up on log in and in the Terms you can find that a Deposit is requiered to get them. I feel the same Way like you...

Dunder perhaps? I have been thinking the exact same. It's totally unethical and something i'd expect from a rogue casino

You may say that but I could not possibly comment. :)

What I can say is I put this to the casino concerned who stated:

"I'm sorry to hear that you think it's misleading. It's not our intention to mislead any of our players and therefore we write in the email that you will get the free spins on your next deposit.

If you do not wish to receive our newsletters there is the possibility to unsubscribe. Kindly confirm if you wish to do so and we will assist you further.

Please let us know if you should have further questions."

This strikes me as a "fuck you" response.

I'm sure the UKGC will not take kindly to this sharp practice and lack of consideration when highlighted.

LOOOOL fully agree everyone here just email back every time to their casino support and say why are you stating i have free spins when it requires deposit??? If we all email back everytime maybe one day they will get a clue :D

PS i just posted this nice email offer in free spins thread. I have of course attached terms conditions in bottom. Dunder are getting worse and worse with their crap reason I think i might just get account closed as plenty better ones out there anyways. As long i got Videoslots and Casumo then i am happy.

At least SkyVegas are following proper rules as they sent email today with this title header > Earn 10 free spins here...

At least then you know that its not free and you need to do something. Dunder is just clear spam to make you login to account and lure players to deposit. My opinon > Disgusting!

Any casino using that tactic and defence wants to be very sure of their position. I'm pretty incensed by this one and will take it further. With releish given the attitude I've had so far.

It's hardly the behaviour of a reputable organisation in my opinion.

No it's not ok. Uk is tougher with those rules and I doubt anyone from Sweden would bother doing anything else but closing the account, so please take it further. They deserve it just because of their attitude if nothing else ;)

I will and will update this thread.

Current status is that i replied saying their response was a joke and that it should be escalated to management and that I would take it to the UKGC is not resolved satisfactorily. I have since been advised it has been escalated. I trust they will choose their words very carefully in response.

Oopsie, another Dunder Blunder

Too many are doing this new form of advertising, basically prompting you to read the email.

I don't see what their reasoning is behind it, it's enough to make me not want to play there for raising my hopes and wasting my time.

Re-wording the email after being caught out does nothing for me either, they knew full well what they were doing! There are no free spins "waiting in" my account you douchebags, now f*ck off

Actually it's not so bad it's helped me streamline the casinos I play at, so good riddance :eek2:

It's just shortsighted casino marketing people.
Who think the're being clever, when in reality they're just pissing off their customers, and jeopardising future deposits

Are they really that desperate for deposits ??

TO THOSE CASINO MARKETING PEOPLE

Start thinking long-term, and you won't have to worry so much about customer retention, and the cost of attracting new customers to replace the one's you've pissed off and lost !!!!

@goatwhack @brianmon

Agree entirely. This casino won't be getting another penny off me without some serious backtracking on their response and a committment to act with more integrity in future. I assume they fight back as many customers get over the "cheeky bastards" part and go on to deposit.

The rest of us can get stuffed, in that scenario. Short sighted and does irreparable reputational damage.

Imagine any casino which does this trying to get accredited in here?

DUNDER Really pissing me off,I have mentioned this numerous times about this email.Would you believe it today I actually thought there was free spins and they sorted it so read 3 times, it was to good to be true where it said crystals of power I didn't read the bit after as thought that was part of the name,

There not getting me on the site by them tactics, Yes ok I might read the email but thats as far as it will go

How it should be done....

Received today from G'day casino.
I can see exactly what's on offer. without opening the email.

Extra spins = A deposit is required

I may not be interested, but I don't feel any resentment towards them, since they haven't tried to mislead me or waste my time.

Thats the way it normally should be, you should see clearly whats offered and not misleading from loyal customers...

Have you seen their weekend offer?

Deposit today and get 50% Spin match up to a maximum of 100 spins per day on Jimi Hendrix™ Slot this weekend.

For example, if you deposit $50 you will get 25 bonus spins on top. If you wish the full bonus on offer, all you have to do is to simply deposit $200, which will give you 100 Bonus spins on top. Deposit and play every day this weekend and get up to 300 spins.

I thought I would get 50% of my deposit worth of spins. How wrong I was. They would have credited for a 50 USD deposit 25 spins each worth 0.2 USD, so 10% match instead of 50%.

Posted this pic of the two gaming enthusiasts that started Dunder in a different thread some time ago and I still think it fits well  :D

Got an even worse one this morning from Karamba

This is the email in my inbox

karamba.jpg

What you see when you open the email

karamba01.jpg

And the same email with the HIDDEN text highlighted!

karamba02.jpg

How can that even be legal, not only do you get nothing for logging in, they put that part in the email in white text on a white background, if thats not meant to deceive people then I have no idea what its there for.

So i finally got a response, via CS saying exactly the same as they've said before.

To paraphrase: "We're not conning anyone because the body of the email tells the truth".

Well, i'm going to tell you what i think: FUCK YOU!

A). They wouldn't tell me which manager or 'department' had produced this response.
B). They don't listen. Think they know better than their paying customers.
C). I told them this would damage their reputation, make them seem like they don't listen and don't care if it is an unacceptable practice.

So, i hate this company. I think they are the scum of the earth and am going to take this forward with the UKGC.

I hope they go bust.

Never strongly urged people NOT to play at a casino before but any that behave like this then ignore customer feedback deserve to go bust.

Woe betide these bastards if they ever try and get accredited, i'll fill their thread with complaints about their attitude.

Email headline:20 Free Spins for gem shooting! Spinzilla
Base of email: Use code SATURN when you deposit (£10 or more) for 20 free spins on space-themed Asteroids slots.

EXTRA SPINS is a step in the right direction..

If only they'd said "You can get", rather than "You got"

Then no one would have anything to complain about.

Maybe the problem is that the copy is being written by people who's first language isn't English.
So they don't quite understand the subtleties of the language?

Not that that's an excuse the Advertising Standards Agency would accept, when they're targeting the UK market.

Or maybe it is done deliberately, to mislead.
If so then they may be underestimating what the ASA can do, and the influence they could have over a UKGC license.

When it comes to Dunder they know exactly what they are doing. I get my emails in Swedish and they have the same idiotic title, and I get the same idiotic replies from their Swedish support. Actually their replies are so similar no matter who it is from, so it sounds like they are used to answer this complaint very often.

I did see that Jidder, their rep, had been online a couple of weeks ago so I sent him a pm with a link to this thread.
