Hi all,

Well it seems that its the end of online gaming for me, after a good few years ive realised that i am not only wasting my money but also a terrible amount of time.

Im not saying I have a problem because I play within my means but im just losing interest and would like to exlude myself from all online play if possible. Already in the last two days ive closed my 3dice and TIV accounts after some simply shocking streaks that just highlighted how much im wasting both in terms of money and time haha. I have other things I could be doing to occupy myself.

So does anyone know a way I can allow myself to not be signing up to any more casinos (sounds like i have a problem lol) in order to keep my sanity? the losses I can deal with but the pure lack of enjoyment is now starting to annoy me :p

Ta as always
Advice appreciated boys and girls :)

Let us know how it goes with the self-exclusion!

At first sight this statement may seem self-defeating. Other threads liken this to going to a pub when trying to stop drinking. I disagree with the latter statement.

Being over 7 years removed from the 'better living through chemicals' lifestyle, I offer my experience with quitting if asked to do so. It would be inspirational IMO for someone who has successfully quit gambling and is living a relatively happy life to come here and post about their experience.

cheers for the reply guys, that gamblock software sounds very good. my only concern is that it sounds like it blocks EVERYTHING to do with online gaming, so would that include this site? :(

will look into it, as i say often i play online because i am bored and there is little else to do at times but ive started playing golf again which is good health wise and social wise :) working 6 days a week also means that i come home knackered and what better to do than have a few spins, so instead ive resigned up to the gym :D

hopefully this gamblock thingy wont stop me coming on here and seeing how everyone is doing as id like to keep in touch when i can.

best of luck all

To continue the "pub" analogy - we're not all "drinking" in here :D

I feel it's important to know how people are doing with tackling any demons they may have. It is also crucial that the casinos respect players' wishes to exclude themselves; this we need to know as well.

Good luck and best wishes to you, you can always pop in on us by using another PC and let us know how you are doing

Gamblock blocks all, sometimes thats what it takes. Good luck and I wish you the best, its a tough road, better to banish yourself otherwise you will get lots of "where have you been" and here's a nice gift, my favorite is "we miss you", more like we miss your hard earned money.

Gamblock will even block some unrelated sites....... be careful with it as it's not perfect at distinguishing gambling only sites from innocent ones in some cases! Google it and read some of the stories from users who wished they'd never installed it.

Ok here I am! I joined a theraphy site back in May of 2007. I have been gamble free from live Casinos for 14 months, Online for..when did all the USA crap start?..since then. It was hard in the beginning to quit online. Funny, coming here and reading helped. I quit online BEFORE I went to the theraphy site, very soon after the USA thing and my state decided to make gambling online illegal. Unfortunantly, I transferred my addiction to live Casinos, that is the one I feel I am recovering from now. I dont miss playing online at all, the urges are not there.
I enjoying reading this site because I love the back and forth banter and like keeping up on the industry. lol, it keeps me AWAY from gambling online lol! I now work two jobs, one is a brand new career, obtained by volunteering at the facility, then being hired on. Back in the office again. This is what I did with my free time after gambling. It can be done, there is a great big world out there. If you feel its time to stop, listen to your inner voice. You wont regret it. I do recommend that you find a theraphy website that you can post on a forum to others if you enjoy that because if you use gamblock, you will lose this site, it will block. I recommend highly having a place to blow off steam! In the meantime self exclude from your regular sites and cancel all your deposit methods, neteller, moneybookers etc. Ive heard others say if all else fails, start a few charge backs..it will ruin your online career!

Best wishes!

If you really want to end your career....than just write casinos and tell them you have a gambling addiction. Wheather you do or not is your business, but that is a surefire way to have them block you. If any casino still let's you deposit after that...than they are rogue, and you wont get paid anyway!

7 years ago I realised I had to give up gambling, or give up losing.
I chose the latter and have never looked back. I don't want to sound flippant, because I know it takes a lot of will-power, but you can gamble & not lose if you really put your mind to it.

I've also been playing golf (or trying!) for about 20 years! I really love it, and agree it is a great way to unwind. If you live anywhere near Sussex we could meet up for a game...?

What ever you decide, I wish you the very best, and hope you stick around the forum.

I believe you KK, but if anyone else said it...........I'm not sure if I would.

You bet. Here it is

I remember the same thing..just wanting to sit after my son was in bed, and spin. Problem was I did the spinning when I was tired and my judgement was poor. My problem was WAR. I LOVE that game, I still play it occasionally when I first wake up in the morning. Keeps me remembering why I quit in the first place lol! I used to keep myself busy on Pogo too, but that got boring..so I went to work!

Best wishes in what ever you decide to do, you are not alone!

You have got to be kidding!! The OP wants to quit and you dangle that ridiculous carrot in front of him.

Any casino gambling "success" I've had could have totally turned around at some of my lowest points if only that "6" had just been any other card. Any gambling unsuccesses speak for themselves.

I take it you scrape up bonuses (as any other method to "stop losing" would be untrue) ...That's fine for you, but big problems usually start from small bet bonus blagging.

I have nothing against you, nice to see someone local ("Hello Hastings" :yahoo:) ...But please, you can't turn around to someone who wants to quit and say "well I didn't and I'm winning!" without any further explanation.

Easy Pubjoe! KK's the exception. He's well disciplined and cashes out when he's made a little profit. He doesn't keep gambling and try to win the whole casino like most of us. (he's a bonus whore too!)

It doesn't matter what method you use. It doesn't matter when you cash out or cash in. He is playing the same games of chance as the rest of us, unless he believes he is somehow manipulating rigged software with his methods. ...and it's easy to say you've been well disciplined when you've been winning.

You can take a small chance at winning a lot, or a larger chance at winning a little. Either way, the casino has the edge.

And regardless of whether or not I think he's kidding himself, I disagree with the context of that statement in a thread by someone who wants to quit. And without further explanation.

[edit]okay, since I wrote the above, I just noticed you've added "(he's a bonus whore too!)"... That can explain how he has a player's edge. I think that fact should have been made clearer in the first place. Something like "quit gambling when you are priced out then - but still play when you have the definite advantage, as I do" would have been better. Though still ill-advice to someone who want's to quit tbh.

He does win in the long run.....so far! I said he was the exception! He's been here a long time, and he's a good man. He's just different than most hooked gamblers. He actually walks away when the credits are in the positive. The rest of us don't

Well, by win I believe we are talking a few $100 in the course of a year. What he really is doing is using bonuses to mend his gambling addiction, and by wagering low we all know the machines usually have better turnout, so doing together with bonuses he accually comes out ahead!

My point is - he doesn't win any - nor does he loose. I would rather say, why play in the first place if you don't loose or win? It's just wasting time, but I agree - it's a darn delicious way to spend time so good for you KK!

I can understand you wanting to give up the online gambling...I hope it goes really well for you.

Myself I play at 3Dice but I will also just play free games so I don't spend too much lol

Keep us updated as to how you get on I'd love to hear what you're up to.

All the best

Cat
