I have just spotted a new/updated T&C which comes into effect from 1st October 2016 at this casino and wouldn't be surprised if adopted at others as well. I have even surprised myself by reading T&C's!!!!!
4.5. Dormant Accounts:
4.5.1. Starting 1 October 2016, if you are a UK resident and you have not logged in to your Player Account for six (6) consecutive months, then your Player Account will be considered as "dormant account" and We will charge a monthly maintenance fee that will be deducted from the balance of your account. Such fee being the higher of: (a) ten (10) percent of the then current balance of the account; or (b) GBP 5, until the balance of the account reaches zero.
4.5.2 Prior to 1 October 2016, if you are a UK resident and you have not logged in to your Player Account for twelve (12) consecutive months, then your Player Account will be considered as "dormant account" and We will charge a monthly maintenance fee that will be deducted from the balance of your account. Such fee being EUR 5 or equivalent, until the balance of the account reaches zero.
4.5.3 If you are a non-UK resident and have not logged in to Your Player Account for twelve (12) consecutive months then your Player Account will be considered a "dormant account" and We will charge a 5€ monthly maintenance fee on the balance of such dormant account. If your Player Account remains dormant for more than thirty (30) months, We will remit Your Player Account balance (if any) to You, after deducting the necessary fees. If Your current location is unknown or You have failed to provide up to date means of making such remittance, the remaining funds (if any) shall be transferred to the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA).
I can see the necessity of maintaining an active account base, but surely if there is a dormant account with cash sat there, then surely they can just return it to the original payment method instead of swiping it for themselves? What if some old biddy has a heart attack when they win big, snuffs it and the family don't know about their gambling account? Goodbye inheritance as the casino will now swipe it ...... !
