That looks like the standard structural format of an ancient Roman theatre, which probably originated with the ancient Greeks...but I'm damned if I can make the connection to Dionysius, which was apparently a very widespread name used in those days.
Dionysus is a god in Greek mythology. Romans did have similar theaters. The Colosseum is basically two of these joined together to create a full circle.
