Does changing the number of lines play change a slots RTP?

I like playing Secrets of the Stones and to increase the variance and give me bigger wins I prefer playing 10 lines rather than the standard 25 lines. My question now is if this does cause the slots RTP to change as well. Logically it wouldn't since the RTP for every single line played or not should be the same, but does anyone know for sure how it works?

It makes not a bit of difference. The only thing it will affect is variance. Your win at 25 lines if equalling 3x stake then becomes 7.5x stake if you play 10 lines. So you'll get fewer wins but relatively greater ones.

The funny effect is that when you do it you will then sit in wonderment at how many winning combos land on your non-played lines compared to the frequency they would've landed had you been playing full lines...

Okay, here's my answer:

Sometimes, specifically with games that have a cap on the win, like RTG slots. For instance, Count Spectacular has a cap of 50,000 x line bet IIRC. If you get all five counts expanded, that win would pay more than $500 if you were playing 25 lines, but the game caps it. If you play 10 lines at 20 cents, I believe you actually get a bigger win.

You see max win pictures from time to time on other slot games, where games can give a hundred free spins and retrigger for instance. I've mostly seen them on RTG games.

There are also progressive games where if you play less than max lines (or sometimes max bet), you don't qualify for the jackpots, and game RTP is lower.

But for the largest majority of games from most providers, no. Just increases the variance.

Help files often give more info than paytables.

The one thing you can be sure of is that if it INCREASED the rtp then you would not be allowed to do it or at least not for very long before the slot providers/casinos put a stop to it

It does not increase the RTP per se but it hugely increases the variance and changes the slot into a vastly different beast, which the casinos do not like in general. There is a reason why so many of the new slots and the HTML5 versions of old slots do not allow to select the number of lines.

This. I will definitely miss Egyptian Heroes, Flowers and Mythic Maiden. Thankfully NextGen slots are still the same, Medusa and Munchers are great when played on 10 lines.

Like Dunover said, RTP is same but variance increases. This is my favourite hit, couldn't find it, so borrowed the pic from BWP (sure they won't mind, it's mine anyway).

Wasn't it Hedgehok who played DOA at one line but maximum coins?

Sheer sado-masichism but imagine getting a good hit off that!

He very often played it with 4 lines @ 0.02 denomination = 0.08 / line = 0.32 total bet in the Betat contests because 0.30 was the minimum bet. Scored once a Wild Line that gave him some 2K in winnings on a 0.32 bet.

You are right guys. I did that while playing at the betat contests.

Regarding OP: There are SOME slots where the number of lines will affect RTP (Alien Robots and Frankenstein for example where the more lines you play the higher the RTP) but on most of them it will just affect variance as others have pointed out.

Thanks, but how do you know it will affect the RTP for these slots?

Alien Robots is one of the slots I like to play with fewer lines.
