Question Do you keep record of your lifetime earnings/losses from gambling?

I have kept a record of my lifetime win/loss history since I started gambling (5 years ago).

I am down, but that is to be expected: I play negative expectation games.

I wonder how many people keep track of lifetime earning/losses from gambling.

Keep in mind that it's not inividual bet records. It's just total deposits minus withdraws.

I def keep track of my losses. Gotta keep an eye on that budget.

I dont play a whole tonne so its easier for me. I havent deposited in almost a month. BGO gave me 100 free spins and I won $200 CAD and cashed out on Friday.

For this year im up about $1000. Thats from mostly betting 90 cents per spin. Ive gotten really lucky as my luck hasnt been with just one casino group..its been with various.

I do have a tough time getting a win in the RTG casinos though.

I don't bother, I'm mainly a slots player and the house edge dictates that your going to be a lifetime loser unless you hit a massive progressive jackpot, so I don't see the point in recording this information.

I do keep track of my poker wins and losses though.

At some places I'm up and others down.

I don't find it so important since I play for entertainment mostly.
I don't keep track on what I spend on food or other things so why on this?

I've answered yes, but it only applies to online. I got lucky.

If you took my 11K win about a year and half ago out of the equation, I'd be down about 6K, which at 1K a year is pretty good considering how often I gamble, and that includes the fees for my card and wire transers and foreign exchange.

I've had 3 other notable wins too, or I'd be down a lot more!

This year has been a total slump, and part of that is me losing the ease of using an ewallet and making more small withdrawals to play again with.

I understand by your answer that you do not keep records, but uses a method to somehow control your losses/winnings per site. I think you can vote for "No, I don't keep record of my gambling."

I do a check up every year so if I wanted to I would probably be able to check.
What I think I would like to say is that since 99.9% of all gamblers are losing, it's better to not focus on if we lose or not. We are.

No, I don't keep track, though I should, for tax purposes. I guess I figure if I have a really good win at some point, then I can go back and request the relevant info from the 2 or 3 casinos I play at, and account for these expenses/losses.

I use to keep track when I was consistently getting bad runs and wanted to know exactly how much I had spent. The numbers were mind-boggling and made me realise I needed to keep a leash on my depositing. I had a couple of wins and thought things were looking somewhat bright but now things have gone complete 180 and just don't want to see or think about the numbers now. All I know is I'm in the red at every casino I've played at and it's a LOT of casinos.

I keep transaction folders for the casinos I play most often. this includes deposits and withdrawals. I usually keep these records for a year or two and then stat again.

I don't keep track myself, but when I asked for my self exclusion to be removed from betfair exchange/games about a year ago, they sent me a breakdown of my account ever since I opened it (about 2003). The account revealed that I had lost about £24,000 over a roughly ten year span, about £18,000 of which was purely on horse racing. That doesn't include other bookmaker accounts though so I am guessing over my lifetime I have lost in the region of £80K to £90K over my lifetime.

I keep track of my wins and loses.

I also keep track of my overall deposits and withdrawals at all casinos individually along with RTP and individual game RTp. I ask for these on a regular basis and it provides some interesting stats/details. The casinos may get sick of it though but I am a stats man through and through.

But just like others I play for fun, I could withdraw so many more times than I do but I enjoy the entertainment.

i'm a lifetime loser in both online and landbased thanks to Playtech and DoA, American Poker II, Lucky Lady Charm and old crappy Novomatics
but in last two weeks i'm on recovery winning 1000 and counting from an initial 10eur in landbased thanks to my fav slot, jewels 4 all. i put these money in saving account and locked for 3 months. i cant figure what is the problem with laptop bluetooth but i will fill the screenshots section soon

Yes I keep track of the following...

How much I have lost/won at each casino I have ever deposited at. So I know where I have been lucky/unlucky/break even/up/down/whatever.

All my deposits/withdrawals by calendar month (I make several per month ranging from as little as £10 to as much as £200 depending on various circumstances/available offers/whether I am winning or losing etc). I do this simply to monitor my monthly gambling budget. If I hit a certain number in the losses column before the end of the month, then it's time to shut the slotting down until the start of a new month. There are no exceptions to this rule for me. Ever.

Whilst I am down overall by a four figure sum (close to 5 grand) since I started online slotting in November 2011, I do not get depressed by it at all.
If anything, it helps me "stay in control". If I didn't keep track, I think my gambling could spiral out of control, especially on a losing streak. When it comes to gambling losses, ignorance might be bliss for some of us, but for me, ignorance might be absolute carnage waiting to happen. I've read some real horror stories on this forum since I joined it late last year. And I am absolutely hell bent on not having my own horror story to tell sometime in the future.

And oh....yeah I guess I am a bit of a "stattophile" as well. So that's another reason why I keep track.

Not a chance of keeping records, I do at the start of the month but by the end of the first week its all over the shot and end up deleting, All I got to do is look at my bank statements and enough to get the rope out, Do not want a instant reminder every time I open up the wrong folder on computer, It most probs be different if I was depositing hundreds a day and winning big

I usually have a tax ticket or 2 every year at the B & M so I'll get a win loss statement at the end of the year for doing my taxes, but I don't make any kind of conscious effort to track anything.

I've had many big wins of over 10K in my life, but I'm willing to bet (hahahaha, not pun intended) that I've given it all back over time.

Nope. For me it makes as much as recording what I use on alcohol each year, or on my car for thats sake. That said I drive an Alfa and live in Norway so the money i spend on gambling is just a fraction of what I use on beer and my car.

When it comes to money I guess i like this quote by George Best the most:

I don't keep a running total day by day, and certainly not by casino.

I exclusively use my prepaid Visa to deposit, or I used Skrill to receive winnings and possibly gamble them away, or to wire to my bank account. So with a couple of exceptions for non-gambling purchases (no more than two or three in any month) what I load is what I've spent gambling (or fees), and what I've withdrawn from Skrill is what I've received. Add in one bank wire for a couple of grand direct from a casino, and the win at ClubGold paid back to my Visa which was withdrawn in person and driven straight to my bank, my record keeping is pretty simple and can be accessed at any time.

I usually do have a look back at the end of the year, and my past three months are staring me right in the face every time I log onto my Visa.

It would take a lot of work to figure out just what I am up and down at individual casinos.
