Just curious if anybody knows if the prepaid visa gift cards work for depositing at casinos? I'm not talking about the reloadable prepaid visa cards, I'm talking about the "throw away" gift cards? Every gift card that I have come across says that it's for use in the U.S. so I have assumed that they wouldn't work. Any info would be greatly appreciated...feel free to pm me if you'd prefer.

Auntie, your obviously from the USA, vanilla visa gift cards have worked for me in the past at Liberty Slots, however, the last time I tried it did not work with that particular gift card. Hope that helps a little.

Yes, I use them regularly and purchase these from my local credit union. $3 fee per card, $500 max. value that can be purchased.

So what happens when the casino requests front and back copies of your depositing credit card?

I use them a lot and its never come up. My assumption is that they can identify the prepaid's from the regular cc or debit cards by the code or issuing financial institution.

Does the cu ever ask why you're buying so many giftcards or do you spaced them out so it looks like no big deal?

Never got asked. I usually buy 5-6 at a time for $500 each.

What is a pain though is that with the amount deposited and then the international "fee" that gets charged, is that I end up with cards that have a small balance left like $3-$11 after using them.

So then I have this wallet full of very small dollar value gift cards. What I do............is use them at the gas pumps. The stations where you pay right at the pump instead of inside the store.

Put one in, gas to limit, then start over with another card, etc. Its a little putzy -- but uses up the value in a way that doesn't involve store clerks looking at me like I am crazy trying to use a bunch of small dollar value cards at time of purchase. But you can't do it at Mobil stations - won't work for some reason.

FWIW,
Diane

Jasminebed,

That's why I was asking. I think I would probably hang onto them too, just in case. I think there is a thread here somewhere about a casino requesting copies of a gift card someone had used to deposit. Would be just my luck.

I toss them without a worry -- never been asked and I use them A LOT.

I made a deposit tonight at 7Sultans (MG) using a prepaid gift card. A notice popped up telling me to keep the card as it might be required when I was registering it.

Seriously, we all have a lot of junk, but they don't take up a whole lot of room.

I have deposited at Liberty Slots before with a Vanilla Visa Gift Card, as recently as 10 days ago.

But since yesterday, I have not been able to deposit at Liberty Slots with the same type of card. I called Visa and found out that my card is indeed approved for international and online transactions, so something else is going on here.

I even tried to use the card to deposit at several rtg casinos, and it didn't work there either. Twenty-four hours of futile attempts to play at an online casino: what a revolting development!
