Disillusioned

After 10 years on on line betting I'm becoming increasingly disillusioned with on line casinos, particularly after casinos that I have been loyal to over the years I feel have let me down in one way or another. For example-

32 Red- Bonus Banned as I "took too many bonuses"
Trada- Didn't reply to a number of concerns I had even though I in the end contacted the rep directly
Videoslots- Problems with SOW declaration (it did get resolved)
Royal Panda- Held my withdrawal to ransom pending SOW finalisation

In addition the amount of regulation, particularly SOW, in the UK is making a farce of the industry when each casino applies its own rules, in some part no doubt due to the lack of clear guidance. Included here are the SE rules allowing casinos excuses for not paying and some self excluded punters chancing their arm to get their money back if they lose.

Overall, its not as pleasant a pastime as it used to be, particularly the more noticeable fact that your luck certainly seems to be out for some time should you be lucky enough to withdraw a half reasonable amount.

I've enjoyed the last 10 years and it's been great meeting the Casinomeister team who do a fantastic job and some of the forum members too, but on line gaming is certainly not as good it used to be IMHO.

Agreed there Chris and sadly been coming / happening for a while now.

One thing that does throw me slightly though is that as far as I understood things, you were/are a medium to hi roller, the sort of customer I would have thought casinos want to keep happy, so to read of your 'let downs' above kind of surprises me.

Winning is a lot harder than it was 4-5 years ago for a fact, no foil hats here, I put it down to more experience among players and a greater volume, hence wider spread of server results.

I share the bonus ban shame too, 32 Red lowest tier despite loyalty for over 12 years, Trada bb'ed (not enough cash only deposits), WHG/Caddell (winning too much) most, if not all IGC sites. They're not going to get my custom if there is no enticement over their competitors, never figure that one out other than they see me as what's known in the casino trade as "No Value"

I also do think the UKGC 'upset' will settle down (eventually) once operators / management and the UKGC themselves get a clearer and more REALISTIC idea of what is needed (and what is not!) case of patience on this one though sadly.

One other thing is for sure which we agree on though is the community here, met and to this day interact with some great people!

Good points both.
Jon, Yes, I guess you could say I was a medium to high roller, deposits of £1k to £5k per week in total across all sites, so I was surprised too.
I do also remember the good old days! I recall getting regular bonuses of £200+ from both Betfred and Grosvenor with no wagering requirements! I also agree that winning is harder and you make a good point for the cause of this. I must admit I am a lot better off financially since I was put off playing!

Funnily enough I've just received a mail from Trada saying that as my deposits have increased they require a SOW. Haven't deposited there for well over 4 weeks!!

Cheers- Chris

By the sounds of it you all should have made tons of money in the good old days of online gambling. I’m not arguing that things aren’t different. Just not as bad. and maybe things weren’t as good as you all remember.

So I’m wondering if this is true.

Did you make tons of money?

Cuz I think we look back at the past nostalgically and make it better than it was.

Things haven't really changed that I have noticed. The platforms have for sure, but as far as loyalty and winning goes. I think it's the same. I lose for quite a while at VS, but when I win, it's usually 3 k and over, and it happens in 3's. October I won over 7k in 3 wins. The time before that, the same. House of Jack. I can go months, but than bang! Over 2 k in multiple winnings.

Instant cashouts of 3k from Ladbrokes back when it was MG download with regular 100% bonus with 1x or 3x WR....
And that is just a small taste. Big wins ... well .... I am too embarrassed to tell .... but you can look for it

Biggest change of course is the all over the place banned casinos and providers and dep/cashout options.
Not to mention the huge invasion of privacy with SOW and all ....

I feel your pain mate £3400 played on DOA since the new year and Zero cash outs which is mainly down to greed on my behalf..
ya, i made a couple poor choices after xmas and a big WD, aiming higher - dropped my threshold though, but not even hitting the lower one

no netent or btg here so at least not chasing those dragons :D

Agree with the above sentiments and let us not forget that more treats are coming from the UKGC in the not too distant future, such as not only the current SOW checks but income and affordability checks at sign up stage. It's just getting completely out of hand. I wish we didn't have a regulator at all!

swap out the secrets to the caramilk inside the cadbury bar to what you willing to do to get your funds, and you have casinos in 2020 :p

Honestly it's going to be easier to get a personal loan than to open a casino account at this rate.what gets my goat it's as easy to launder money in landbased casinos with none of this bollicks going on which I see happening on a daily basis by mostly none nationals i.e. Chinese £300 a spin surely selling gravy chips can't be that lucrative.

If you couldn't care less for any form of regulator then you may as well play in Curacao and avoid UKGC licensed casinos. You do have the choice.

There's a difference between "no regulation" and "having to play at a casino based out of a third world country to avoid bad regulation." As someone from the U.S., I'm pretty sure a lot of people would be much happier to play at legitimate but unregulated casinos located in the U.S. rather than who knows where, but the government basically makes that impossible. There's never a choice between regulator or no regulator, because the presence of the regulator affects the market, it affects which companies choose to participate in it, and how those companies participate in it.

Many of the good companies are forced to either comply with whatever regulations exist or abandon the market - in the U.S. that means abandoning the market. So even if there are unregulated choices, those are not the same companies that would exist in a market without regulation.

I do think proper regulation is good, but we seem to rarely see it. Suffice it to say gamblers here were much happier before the UIGEA in 2006, and again before the big poker sites were hit for bank fraud for miscoding gambling transactions in 2011.

Hard to imagine there was a time where people would just casually throw $25 on partypoker in the same way people would go to the movies, now I suspect it's mainly just the hardcore enthusiasts and addicts still around.

No I didn't make lots of money in "the good old days" but I certainly lost a lot less for a lot more play time. Casinos have themselves admitted that they're tightening up on bonus offers and reducing RTP percentages, particularly for the UK market as the tax has increased to 21%, so the players are bound to see a difference.

As for SOW, like many things the theory is fine but the execution very flawed, especially when each casino adopts very different approaches. This also creates a risk of casinos holding withdrawals to ransom pending excessive SOW requests which I've experienced myself.

I’m disillusioned with betvictor I’ve just closed my account with them no loyalty rude chat staff and when you deposit the deposits are gone in under 2 mins chat was sarcastic and said oh well sorry you have bad luck at casinos :) wtf.
