While I agree with some of your political views, and also like Obama, you cannot just disregard other people's feelings and viewpoints. I don't see where Laurie tried to give you an order, but rather made a polite request.

I know that I have words that offend me, even though they are "just words". And I'm sure you have words that offend you as well. You might wanna try being a little more accomodating to EVERYONE'S feelings here, not just your own.

I also learned a new word "bimbo" and it means an attractive yet unintelligent woman. I am sure you dont fit in with this word, at least half of it. As you said, I am only speaking my mind.

So true. IMO, forcing anyone one way or another is NOT what this country stands for, and was NOT what our founding fathers had in mind. There's plenty of other countries in this world we can go live in if we want a DICTATOR and not a democratic system.

We all know (hopefully) the truth, where each candidate stands, etc...it's up to EACH INDIVIDUAL to go with their heart and vote for who they THINK will be the best LEADER for this country.

Is Obama ready? I doubt it. is McCain sane? Definitely not. Can Palin step up to the plate WHEN something happens to McCain due to health reasons? HELL NO. Can Biden step up to the plate if something similar happened to Obama? Maybe, and I think he'd make a better leader than Palin ever would.


Now, how about we keep everyone's personal life out of this discussion (CM members included) and get back to talking about the POLITICAL issues at hand?

A number of us have complained a great deal about how the candidates aren't talking about the issues, so how about we be better than them?

OK I am just Johny foreigner but US policy and economy affects us all so I will chuck in my tuppence worth.

Americas standing in the World under the Bush administration has been very badly damaged and that is not good for America or for the rest of World.

As the most powerful nation in the World the US has the responsibility of leading with morality tolerance and purpose. If it is not seen to be doing so then disorder and chaos will only increase along with the threat to US security.

All this weakens Americas alliances around the World and allows for less friendly regimes to extend their sphere of influence which in turn means the World becomes a more dangerous place.

As US citizens you are probably more worried about domestic policies especially the economy but foreign policy is hugely important, more so with the US than any other country but domestic policy is basically just about shuffling the pack.
You really will not notice a big difference whoever gets in at home, do you ever?.

If I had a vote I would be concentrating on the candidates foreign policies.

Her experience is as mayor of a city with a population of about 5,000 (at the time) and less than two years as governor of a state with about 670,000 residents.

During her mayoral administration, most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings, which had given rise to a recall campaign.

Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a "fiscal conservative." During her six years as mayor, she increased general government expenditures by more than 33 percent. During those same six years, the amount of taxes collected by the city increased by 38 percent. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax, which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefitted large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents.

The huge increases in tax revenue during her mayoral administration weren't enough to fund everything on her wish list, though borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt but left it with indebtedness of more than $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? Or a new library? No. $1 million for a park. $15 million-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex, which she rushed through, on a piece of property that the city didn't even have clear title to. That was still in litigation seven years later to the delight of the lawyers involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5 million for road projects that could have been done in five to seven years without any borrowing.


While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office redecorated more than once.

These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city.

It seems to me she loves to spend money faster than W, and on stuff that's NOT NEEDED.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.Grand Junction police say they're looking for several protesters who tried to stop the motorcade carrying Sarah Palin to a campaign rally in the city.

Police said the protesters waited until police motorcycles passed them and then rushed out in front of the other vehicles in the motorcade on Monday. Spokeswoman Kate Porras says the motorcycle officers stopped, turned around and got the protesters out of the way. However she says the officers didn't arrest anyone because they had to return to their positions in the motorcade quickly.

Video cameras mounted in police vehicles captured part of what happened and police are asking the public to help out with any pictures or video they might have.
