Deliberately broken autoplay modes - grrrrr

I thought it was only Rival that did this, but apparently not.

It's a real personal gripe of mine, and IMO there's no excuse for a casino software provider and/or casino to deliberately break their autoplay modes to encourage/entice players to deposit and play for real money.

Rival are arguably the worst, although at least they're honest, with a simple 'autoplay is disabled in free play mode, you need to spend real money to use this feature' message.

However, it appears Play 'N Go do it as well - albeit a bit more insidiously.

I deposited at Unibet last night for a bit of WMS slotting fun, only to find that the WMS slots were on their usual early evening slowdown to the point of being completely unplayable (Ruby Slippers even crapped out towards the end of a decent bonus round, which I've never seen before, and was quite worrying, although it did finish the incomplete game when I launched the slot again).

Since I'd already deposited I figured I'd try something else, (should have just withdrawn straight back out really), I'd played a few spins through Play 'N Go's 'Leprechaun Goes Egypt' a few days earlier and thought it was OK, so set about a proper session on it.

Long story short it helped itself to a £130 balance on 40p spins without ever paying more than 30x stake - oh well I thought, that's the way it goes. And I resolved to set about it in free play mode the next day to get a better feel for it, to decide if I wanted to play it again (variance feels medium/low but there is potential there with the big multipliers in free spins, plus I hadn't managed to get to the end of the pyramid bonus round, the help file only saying that it awards a 'big coin prize' - so those factors could skew it a bit).

So here I am playing it today in free money mode, and EVERY TEN SPINS it's flashing this up at me.

No I don't want to play for real money, because I did that last night and lost, what I want to do now is play in free money mode WITHOUT BEING INTERRUPTED ALL THE TIME, but apparently I'm not allowed to do that.

Oh well, there are lots of other software providers to choose from.

Don't software providers understand how annoying this is? If anything it just makes it look they've got something to hide, why on earth would you want to stop a player experiencing your game in free play mode?

It's especially annoying because as players we're basically left to work out variance for ourselves, and if a slot is a 'hidden high variance slot' whereby it's not apparent from looking at the paytable, that could get extremely expensive to discover for real money - so free play mode is all we're left with.

Very mean-minded IMO, and a total turn-off for me as a player.

My goodness, I'd politely ask them to promise to never interrupt my play ever again in such a fashion, and if that was not forthcoming I'd immediately withdraw my balance and ask for my account to be closed.

I can honestly say the theme was what drew me to it, after all, every single software provider has their default IRISH SLOT and their default EGYPTIAN SLOT.

I've never seen them combined before.

So you get bizarre hybrid music going on, and Ramesses faces growing green beards, and Cleopatra symbols with clover scatters behind their heads, and sphinxes getting painted with rainbow colours, and a little cigar smoking Leprechaun putting on sunglasses as he raids the tombs for treasures.

It sounds like it should be the most spectacularly awful thing ever, but as a theme I found it to be quite novel and appealing

I guess it's just that Unibet have a rep on the forums, he may wish to express his opinion and/or the stance of the casino itself with regards to them offering software that deliberately presents reduced functionality in free play mode.

Any other reps who have their own feelings on the matter may wish to contribute to.

None of us would accept software that offered different payouts in free money mode, so I don't see why deliberately gimping the software in free money mode to 'cajole' the player into depositing is any more acceptable, TBH.

FTR the original post regarding "Rep Friendly" is here. Personally I don't think a thread that says casinos are deliberately borking their software in order to entrap players is likely to be seen as "friendly" by most reps but whatever, I'll leave that decision to them.

That said if the thread turns into a "this is how crappy casinos are" thing then yes, the "Rep Friendly" will be pulled.

Thanks for the link there max, and I'd say that therefore this is a 'Rep Friendly' thread insofar as I don't think it's unreasonable to ask, as a player, if reps think it is right for some of the software that their casinos provide to deliberately break key functionality of said software in free play mode with explicit reminders that such functionality will be restored if the player deposits real funds.

Such communications between players and casinos, via the reps here at CM, are to be encouraged I would hope?

I agree with that it would be a better solution to let players play these games in fun mode without being disturbed.

One suggestion may be to play for fun directly on Play'n GO's hompage here: Old / Expired Link

But Leprechaun goes Egypt is a slot made exclusively for Unibet, so this game has not been added on Playn Go's casino page.

As I've said, I think the use of "Rep Friendly" here is borderline but I reckon there's no harm in letting it ride.
