Cyberbingo has been given me the runaround for about 2 weeks now. Here is the issue, I sent my child's computer in to be fixed (just the port) I got it back and started looking around, I found multiple deposits to this site.

I contacted them right away, I am military, yes I have a civilian id, but I never use it. Unless we are traveling, my child has been spending money on this site without my knowledge, matter of fact I was deployed 9 months out of the time said child was playing on this site.

Why was I not watching my accounts better or where was my wife? My wife has cancer, our children have been neglected of the attention they needed, however it's not just one child on this site playing it's multiple.

My child admitted there is about 5 of them playing on this site and all they have to do to join is sign up, or steal their parents information.

I have contacted every person I could at Cyberbingo, I have only asked for half of what my child has deposited. I have taken full responsibility for my child, but the company will not respond to me. I email them every couple of days, live help says they can't help me. I save all chats so it's made clear I have been kind and clear about the issue.

All I want is half of what my child has stolen from me back. I am sure I will get back lash for this, but I am stuck in the middle of a situation

Firstly, welcome to CM :)

Secondly, sorry to hear about your problems. Not a situation one wants to be in, especially when it is family that has done it.

Thirdly, if they used your or your wife's credit cards how did not any of you detect it earlier?

Lastly, good luck with getting anything back as i can assure you to nearly 100% that you won't see a penny/cent. Reason, see below:

Might as well be the Republic of Jupiter.

Costa Rica is a notoriously bad jurisdiction so i wouldn't expect them to assist.

You have to consider that your wifes information has been misused, despite being done by a family member, and as such you can raise a dispute with your bank that you did not authorise these debits. They won't have any signed documentation from you, nor will they have the KYC documentation to process a withdrawal so a report of fraud wouldn't be out of the picture either.

It's a difficult one but going to your bank is the only way i suspect you can deal with this.

Yeah, but then it is family members. The bank will ask him then to report the fraud to the police (as otherwise they surely won't reverse the charges to the cards) and his own kids might end up in court!!!

So lost

I was in Afghanistan, I was always on patrol and my wife was dealing with cancer as our parents stepped into help. Yes, there is Internet there, but my only concern was to get home.

I spoke with my bank already, they only go bavk 60 days. I also have to press charges against my child, I have contacted the police and they informed me seeing it's over 500, it could be a felony.

I am between a rock and a hard place, I have contacted risk management, at least 3 times and no response. I have contacted the parents of each child and encouraged them to do the same. I have done all I can do and nobody will contact me back, they say the manager has 2 days to respond, but it's been almost 2 weeks and the live help is useless, they say that they have sent emails to support to contact me for over a week now.

I feel like the worst parent in the world as it is, I don't know how we didn't notice this. I don't know if it was due to deployment and my wife being sick, and grandparents not paying closer attention.

I know my odds are small of them giving even half of the money back, but I have to try. If all else fails, I will make my child sell everything they own to pay us back.

I feel for you, i really do. The situation is very precarious.

However, you are not a bad parent because your kids did something rather illegal. Being in the hellhole Afghanistan i am sure you had other things to do than checking your credit card charges.

Secondly, filing a police report will only harm your child as it will not return you the lost monies. Costa Rica is the worst when it comes to disputes with online casinos. And from what you have written here Cyberbingo won't give you anything back, they won't even answer your emails.

One little hope I can give you is AskGamblers - they are an affiliate of Cyberbingo and they might be able to assist you with your case. Go here:

Thank you

I will contact them right now, I can't bring myself to turn my child in. I do not want one mistake to dictate my child's future.

Also, Thank you. Right now we feel like the worst parents in the world. I don't know how we missed it, I don't know how we didn't catch on. I feel so bad.

Absolutely. Not worth getting your child into trouble because of one mistake.

However, agree with your child to some payback plan it can afford and maybe even let go of a part. But for educational reasons i would ask the child to repay what has been spent without your/your wife's consent.

My well wishes to your wife, hope she will be successful in her fight against that awful disease. I lost numerous family members to it.

Ok I don't know what to say. Im the sort of person that will give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

But to be fair a lot of people will question what you posted as sadly the vast majority of posts like yours turn out to be fake.

Sadly whenever someone comes on and says there wife has cancer and their kid has gambled all there money away etc. it normally turns out to be fake and the person has blew the money themselves and are trying to get it back. Been several posts similar on here and yet to find one that was truly genuine so forgive peoples scepticism.

Anyway im taking it as genuine but must ask how a kid was allowed to go over a year using their parents id and bank cards and no one noticed any money missing from their account. Take it you are very well of that you never noticed so much money missing and you nly discovered it when you brought the pc back from shop and checked it.

Anyway if indeed its true and you want the money back you have one option. Report your kid to police for fraud. It wont affect him that much as hes young and due to circumstances he probably wont get in too much trouble. Also as a parent its your responsibility to make sure your child realises the consequences of his actions.

But if you don't want your kid in trouble then you will have to right the money of and put it down to experience. Like I said tho if its that much hes lost then how it can go unnoticed escapes me.

It doesn't matter if your kid steals right out of your wallet or use your card. It's illegal and a crime.

If he /she had stolen cash and went to stores it might have been easier to return some, but not all of it, and you wouldn't have accused the stores or asked to get the money back.
It's the same with this company and I don't think you will see a cent.

I might sound heartless but you are resposible for your card and bank details, and your kid need to suffer the conequences to learn.

I'm surprised noone recommended him to make a PAB here but instead he got links to two different forums:eek2:

I was deployed, we still do missions and have daily tasks. It was small amounts, and our parents (grandparents) were supposed to.be on top of this.

I deployed, before my wife's cancer came back. Redcross messages are not for thay reason when we had plenty of support.

My mother did our bill paying, she thought maybe we (my wife and I ) were buying random stuff from companies.

It wasn't like said child was taking 300-500 a month we are talking.about 26 her, and 30 here and there. It just adds all up quickly, later on.

I still don't know how he/she could have access or how old your kid is.

I'm sorry but the company isn't responsible here but you are, and our kids have to learn the right way. I know it feels horrible but it is the truth. Otherwise your kid will keep on playing and probably for someone elses money if they could steal yours. Tough but true.

I have never once said I wasn't responsible for my child. If my child stole from a store, I would take them back to said store and expect the consequences to play out. However, I could dispute the transactions anyway.

Which is why we have tried to settle this matter without doing that, however I am burnt out on being ignored by said company.

A store would at least be helpful, this online site won't even speak to me and I have tried from the fakey email account and my work account.

I will punish my child, but I will be dammed if the courts are involved in this matter. My wife and I are simply asking for half of the money back, if that doesn't happen then we will keep everything we have already taken of value and we are talking about an almost 14 year old.

This was the first time said child has ever done something so stupid, and again I was not around to acknowledge or know how or why the child had or got a hold of such personal information

The company will ignore you.

As far as they can see since the account is registered in your name using your bank account and all your details as far as they are concerned you are the one that's been using it.

Anyone can contact a casino and say someone set up an account using their name and their details. As far as the casino or any business would be concerned if you have been a victim of fraud( which you say you have) then you would report it as fraud. If indeed you report it as fraud the casino might return deposits or bank might.

But as you are not going to do that then how can you expect the site to just go oh that's a shame his kids used his details we must return the money. If that was the case then every body out would lose money, contact the site and say my bad wee boy stolemy card so willyou give me my money back please.

And if you did report your child as he/she is 13 I hardly think it would end up in court. Child would get a slap on the wrist and you would have a chance of getting it back.

Sorry but your reluctance to declare fraud and fact they were playing for over 9 months all sounds a bit funny. Also not being nasty but I know people that have had cancer. They still manage to survive and carry out tasks. To say your parents had to deal with everything as she was incapable sounds strange. Also if your wife was that bad how could your parents have thought she was shopping online or you were buying stuff online while you were away. Also not being nasty but if my wife was that bad with cancer I would be at home with her looking after my kids. Whoever you work for would have gave you permission.

Sorry more I read this the more it doesn't make sense . And so you got the pc back. The bingo site was sitting there all logged in for you just to open it up and check and see your child had been depositing for a year on it.

I can see why the site has not responded or returned your money. If its all genuine report it to bank and let them deal with it. If your child gets into trouble let them face the consequences. They are 13 so hardly going to get life in jail or an adult criminal record.

I am in the military, my wife was dealing with chemo and a bilateral mastectomy, my wife was not dying or going to die. The mission goes on, and we have already spoke to the bank they only go back 60 days, then the rest has to be reported as fraud.

I get people come on here crying about this same situation, or something similar. However there are other kids on this site playing that my child goes to school with, do they not care to address that matter? I have already said it over and over, if I must I will do whay has to be done to get my money back.

I am not interested in some pissing contest, we have taken responsibility and my bank will refund 60 days, but past thay we must report fraud

Ok last comment. You have just said you will do whatever you have to to get your money back. Well as has been pointed out report it as fraud then. That's what it will take so do it.

You must have some bank tho. If I was to go to my bank and say my child had been using my details and had spent my money they would automatically report it to their fraud department before they returned a penny . There is no way they would just refund 60 days of money without proof.

They onky cover the last 60 days, so whatever we mark off is what they refund. Anything after 60 days they want a police report. Again, we have taken everything of value from said child and will go with the last 60 days.

People, please stop asking him to go to the police. I don't know if you have kids but i would never put my child into a court room unless some serious crime was committed as I would possibly ruin his life from a very young age and that for a few bucks he has taken from daddy's credit card.

There are other ways to discipline a child to make sure it learns his lesson and won't do such thing again.

Putting a 14-old in the US into court can easily end up in a youth state penitentiary which will be the start of a downhill journey for that child.

Take the 60 days charge backs, count the reminder together and let your child do some weekend or school holiday jobs to pay you back the reminder. Once you are satisfied he/she learned his/her lesson than you can always let go of a part of that money or put those earnings in a special fund from which you can buy his/her first car or pay part of the college fees. Just make sure he/she learns the lessons that need to be learned after this.

Taking everything away the kid has is in my view not the right thing to do either as the kid might start looking at getting replacements and since he/she will need money for that it might be possible he/she will do other stupid things to get that money.

Me and my brother were aged 4 and 6 and took/stole from my moms purse once 100 LEI (which was like 25% of a monthly salary back then) and went to a supermarket and asked for biscuits for the whole 100 LEI. The lady behind the counter knew my parents very well (she was our neighbor for a few years) and gave us a few biscuits and told us that is it for that money (3 packets were like 1 LEU but we did not understand numbers that well yet). She gave the change to my mom the next day telling her about the 100 LEI.

She told us off and that my father would deal with us after he comes home from work. My father decided to just not talk to us for 1 week, like he didn't even know what happened, not bring us any sweets/goodies after work, no entertainment etc. Instead he gave us odd jobs like cleaning shoes, sweeping the courtyard etc. He could have chosen something much more drastic but what he did hurt us much more than other possible punishments. Never ever in our lives have we taken something which did not belong to us.

I know somewhat different to the OP's story but in essence the same. The kids do something they shouldn't. Running to the police would be the last resort and only if other methods have failed.

Go with AskGamblers and the rep Lori suggested in her post and see what you can recover. If you can't then see it as a lesson learned.

It's a bad situation all the way around..

Only the OP can make the decision he feels best to deal with his children.

You now know what your children are capable of, and being in the military and being deployed it hard enough, not to mention dealing with such a horrible illness. It just plain sucks!

I would try and get back what monies you can and then make your kid pay off the rest. If they are smart enough to steal your cards, they are smart enough to go out and earn money. I would make them go door to door to mow lawns, clean up yards whatever....

Yelling at them is one thing, but actually making them correct the situation is another. I don't think I would get the authorities involved, but IF I were you, I would make damn sure they would be busting their backs to pay every cent back. You are in the military, show them what boot camp is like and be easy on them just because they are your kids, let them see what you have to go through to give them a good life. I am sure they wouldn't do anything like this again if they knew what hard labor was..

Good luck to you and wishing for the best for you and your wife.

Lori

Welcome to the world of having children. Sometimes they do really stupid shit. Do your job as a parent by discliplining/grounding/taking away electronics/allowances and when they get a job make them pay you back.

Dont ever call the police on them for something like this. But make sure to tell them if they pull this shit again, you will call them next time.

At first I didn't believe a single word from your story.

Then I remembered how much I made my parents suffer from my insane behavior when I was young.

They could have reported me to the police. It would have been easier and less expensive.

They didn't.

They gave me love, listened to my pain and were very patient.

Now I am a responsible adult and I am very thankful to them. I know it did cost them time, money and energy.

I owe them everything I have today.

If your story is true, take the loss. Your son's value is a million times more than the money lost.

If you're lying... You have a terrible lying and gambling problem.

I do have kids Harry and I would make sure she couldn't have used my card online. It should have been my responsibility if anything like that happen.

About this case I don't even believe it was the kid who played and I don't believe he just found the deposits, but we have different way of seeing things :)

Thank you for all the feedback, we have decided to just take whay the bank has offered. My child has agreed to work off the debt, my wife does not want one mistake to be held against our child.

Said child has agrees to give up every name of friends who play on said site. What the site does from there is on them.
