Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

The police should not even be challenging anyone not wearing a muzzle. Under disability and discrimination law, they are not allowed to, and anyone who has a medical, physical or psychological reason as to why they cant wear a muzzle are exempt.

Rubbish
The Health Protection Regulations (2020) give police (and others) the power to enforce mask wearing in the places where it is mandatory. Failure to comply can result in a fixed penalty. This is enabled under section 24 of PACE. How exactly do you think they can do this without asking if someone is exempt?

You should stop reading shite on facebook and reposting it on here as fact, when it is far from it.
Feel free to quote the section of the Equality Act you believe it to be in breach of though (before you run back to facebook, sections 112 and 119 which are the commonly used ones, don't apply to this at all)

Cases are down a bit in the UK today, although the deaths are still high, but hopefully its the start of a decrease, obviously the death trend follows the cases a couple of weeks later.
My best mates ex is aneasthetist.

She works in James cook, biggest hospital in europe, based in Middlesbrough.

They have had 7 patients needing life saving works, all of those over 60 whom fell into the bracket of obese, bame and have pre existing conditions, every one of them.

And that’s in a working month, make of that what you will.

Clearly she’s a v smart lady as her job title proves and not one to lie or listen to nonsense, this is her working experience on the front line.

Make of that however you like, but this is real experience in a real hospital from a doctor...

Don’t wear them mate, i did for a few weeks then realised what utter nonsense it was.

Also you smell your own breath, after a few beers it’s most unpleasant.
I have never worn one and never will. And after the "3 week lockdown" became more than 3 weeks, I ignored all of it because I wont be restricted. I could drop down dead at any time, so what time I have on this planet I intend to enjoy and spend with my family and friends .

I have no words....

Actually it does sound a bit trump like though. Me me me me ...

What? In the US of A? Holy shit ;)

Yep, in my state, not sure about the rest of the country.

I also have a bottle of antibacterial spray I take with me and wash my steering wheel etc.. and when I get back like just now, wash my hands for 20+ seconds.

I presume you are looking at this?

People are not required to prove they are exempt and it is for individuals to choose how they would want to communicate this to others.

That was in July. Current legislation allows police to challenge anyone for not wearing a mask where it is mandatory. Obviously if you choose not to tell a police officer you are exempt, then that is your choice, and you can't be forced to give the reason why, but they can certainly ask if you're exempt.
That doesn't mention the equality act anywhere, which is what you stated it was against, which sections of the act do you think it is in breach of?

See I’ve always washed my hands anyhow and kept clean,
all this washing hands and keeping stuff clean to me was just normal behaviour...

Must be some right scruffy fuckers about, bork!..

Same here, I've always washed my hands before covid. I use to use a coin to press the button on the cash machine but I don't use cash these days and I always use one of the supermarket wipes they have to clean the handle of the shopping cart as that is where the young kids sit and hold on to it. Plus I've always grabbed the shop door handles from the bottom or the top as well, that's because I work for myself and want to avoid getting the regular flu.

As for muzzles working...

So despite everyone knowing masks aren't to protect you, and only to protect others, the second line of that article states

but did not examine whether the wearer protects others by using the item.

So that was a waste of time then.

Still waiting for which section of the equality act you were talking about earlier?

Edit: just looked further at the page you linked to, did you actually read it?

As such, the study cannot be used to draw conclusions on the general merits of using face masks as an effective preventative measure against Covid-19 infection, the researchers behind the study said.

“The study thereby fails to confirm the expected halving of risk of infection for the wearer of the face mask, but the results could suggest a moderate level of protection of 15-20 percent,” the Danish-language

notes.

“The findings, however, should not be used to conclude that a recommendation for everyone to wear masks in the community would not be effective in reducing SARS-CoV-2 infections, because the trial did not test the role of masks in source control (transmission from an infected person to others) of SARS-CoV-2 infection,” it adds.

so what 'lies' from SAGE has a report that clearly states it shouldn't be used for conclusions, and the masks 'possibly' reduce risk by 15-20% shown?

lol exactly, when it all started and they were saying 'wash your hands' I genuinely was sitting here thinking, wtf, who doesn't wash their hands multiple times a day.

Honestly it’s insane, it’s basic hygiene your brought up with... how does this need reminding to people?

it’s like the report on kids forgetting to use a knife and fork ‘due to Covid’

I beg your pardon?
But If your kids can’t use basic cutlery then social services need involving, Covid or no silly Covid these are basics of life and if you can’t provide this to your children you have no place having them in the first bloody place..

Pff, not washing hands and eating pick n mix candy is how you build up a proper immune system.
Everyone knows that.

These? If so, yes, they are great. =)
The shop here where i live actually have a decent assortment of pick n mix, guess 60-70ish different kinds but if you want to go nuts theres a place in Umeå called Godishuset (translates to candy house) and they have over 600 different candies to pick n mix from.
Its pretty great.

Edit: missed your post.
Mine look a bit more hard boiled, but i guess they are the same. :P

Just found a list of the 50 best pick n mix and seen these at no23! I don't think they tasted of much but I always put a few in the paper bag :p

edit: they have flying saucers at no1.... no way!!
I usually buy those aswell, but they look different.
I mean, i know the stereotype about English and their teeth, but why does it extend to the candy?
:eek2:

Found a top 10 from a couple of years ago.
Left to right, Milk chocolate, tutti frutti (soft fruit candy), Raspberry jelly things, raspberry&licorice skulls, peaches, chocolate filled with caramel, chocolate filled with caramelish stuff, fruit pacifiers, sour cola pacifiers, fizzy bottles.

The skulls, peaches, pacifiers and the chocolates are all great.
Or maybe i just like most candy.
=)

Could just eat bloody pick and mix now haha! Flying saucers I also adore

How did we survive the 80s, pick n mix, playing out until dark, getting sunburnt on a hot day, riding bikes on main roads, rode the witches hat, bought 10p singles, played with powerful air rifles and 1000s other things that would be considered high risk today lol

And how the world has become a big poof regarding a virus that has an average age of death higher than the average life expectancy, yet everyone is running scared of it and destroying our way of life. Dear god we deserve our demise, we deserve a real pandemic with a IFR of 30% seriously to sober us up!!!

I had to look up pick n mix but here its called penny candy. It used to be 1 US cent a piece when I was a kid but not
anymore. I remember my cousin gave me $1 and I went and bought 100 pieces.
We call it lösviktsgodis and that translates more or less into

And while i think its a great way to buy candy, i tend to steer clear of the two bottom rows of containers since those are the ones lil kids can reach.
I have seen stores that have a sort of child lock on the containers, but most just have a plastic lid like in the picture below.

All this talk about candy...i may have to go get a bag later today.
I mean, its the weekend, and thats the only time you are really allowed to eat lösviktsgodis, aka Lördagsgodis (saturday candy)
Bit more sinister than the name lets on.

Over here most big stores don't sell candy like this but some of the smaller ones still do as do stands on the open air markets. And these days you can order them online which defies the whole idea of trying them before/whilst buying :p

Some of markets have similar displays. I used to buy Swedish fish all the time. The red ones. Are those fizzy bottles sour? They look familiar.

I think the coating is a mix of sweet&sour, but they dont taste sour compared to sour candys if that makes any sense.
Theres definitely a touch of sour there, but i wouldnt describe them as a sour candy.
They taste fizzy. =)

Edit: Swedish fish has a great texture/chewiness thing going on.
Nice flavors aswell.

Only when I’m watching a trump rally brother haha
Lets hope that you never pick your nose and eat it Ben as a means to build up your immunity to germs as has been muted over the years as a good thing! These days it could be lethal to many.
I find it sad that we are not being given the facts about these new vaccines. They do not give us immunity at all and will not prevent us from passing the virus on to Granny

I know right! See my I miss the ole days thread for stuff like this, lol. I miss the 80's :(. I have been saying it every day again the last week alone.

Masks vs not masks in Kansas counties with not so surprising results.
105 counties total, 81 opted out, 24 opted in for mask mandate.
Covid infections increased in 81 counties, and decreased in 24.

Well, who knew...

"people are dying of other things so it does not matter if we die from corona aswell" is not the best anti-lockdown argument ive heard. =)

But if you want to make that comparison, how many rules&restrictions are included in traffic?
Lets all start ignoring them because they limit our freeeedoooom!!!

Are they going to ban cars and lockdown all the roads to save lives?View attachment 145348

Why would they do that? Did you find this one on facebook too? How about breaking the figures down, for example, lets look at them locally.
In 2019, the most recent figures available, there were 1,752 deaths on the roads. So far in the UK, Covid-19 has caused 54,626 deaths. The figures this year are likely to be significantly less for RTA's as we had a 3 month lockdown. So you think we should ban cars because we get an average of 4.8 deaths per day on the roads? There are already measure in place to lower death rates too, ie seatbelt wearing, speed limits, limits on tyre depth etc.

Still waiting for you to explain which part of the equality act you think asking someone about masks is in breach of? Or what the lies are that study proved SAGE were making?

Well it should be. We are destroying our very futures right now, and for nothing. Lockdowns DONT WORK!!

Can you show some evidence to back that up? You were attempting to say Sweden as an example earlier in the thread, but thats been proven wrong recently (not that you were ever right comparing similar countries).
