We still haven’t had half
The holiday money refunded to us companies acting disgracefuly would it be worth doing a charge back? Have all the proof from them promising the rest of the refund in cash and now they’ve back tracked saying we will get a voucher. Fuming. To be honest don’t wanna go abroad this year at all it’s a write off and would much rather spend money in the uk to help our own economy before going to other countries

Guess that's pretty much depends of consumer laws in your country. Just yesterday read from Finnish paper about small travel agency who is struggling with refunding customers because some countries (was for example Italy and France if i recall right, can be mistaken in these but some of their popular destination anyway) are allowed to offer travel vouchers as compensation from cancelled holiday which can then be used in certain time (was it 12 months or something, not sure but doesn't really matter to point) and if still can't travel, can do same again.

Problem for travel agency is coming when Finland consumer law makes it very clear that cash refunds must be processed when customer demands, so especially small companies who just book people to their destinations they have deals done for season, probably don't have huge amount of dosh for running expenses as there shouldn't be loads of them, people pay at time of booking partly or full and agency pays that amount to resort to confirm booking.

Wonder why some countries accept these kind of consumer terms, if your holiday for any reason get cancelled. it might be destination you are not looking to travel in next 12 months or even if that can be changed to other place, maybe you just don't really want it but prefer to get refunded as product you bought can't be delivered.

Credit card companies as a last resort should always be able to get your money back, if you don't receive product or service you paid for, never paying any flights or hotels etc... with any other payment method now or in future, same doesn't apply with debit card payments.

I don't think German measles originated in Germany. Its original name is rubella and it was a great many years before it also got referred to as German measles due to the German physians writing about identifying it as a separate disease from others.

So not quite the same as corinavirus where trump and others call it the Chinese virus mostly to apportion blame. The germans were certainly not to blame for rubella/ German measles.

Additionally as calling it covid 19 or corinavirus is easy why not do that instead of intentionally upsetting people.

You should probably read North Korea thread and whatever thread was before that. We've bashed Trump from day 1 and before he was elected too. He got elected by attacking muslims and immigrants etc. Trump has a long history of racism and white people seemed to have liked that. Like he was going to defend our culture etc.

Similar things have happened in many european countries...using the same talking points (during the Brexit debate too). So yeah racism is really a white thing. It does happen elsewhere too but the vast majority of racism is caused by white people.

It doesn't help when Ben is so vocal supporter of Trump and whenever there's some kind of terrorist attack...he's very quick to jump on it and say something like..."religion of peace does it again". Though he's absolutely not the only one who does that...many other people do it too here. When finding out that the attacker was actually a white guy, then that thread suddenly becomes completely silent.

I agree though, it shoudn't be called the Chinese Virus as thick people will blame all Chinese/Asians, but that doesn't make it racist. Targeting Chinese people because of it is racist, theres a big difference.

Just as an aside, one of my best friends for over 30 years owns a Chinese Takeaway. His trade dropped off massively towards the end of January (80%+), and he started getting calls from his regulars, some who always spend £25+ per order, every week, for years, asking if he had that 'Chinese Virus' and they were scared to order in case they caught it from the food. Most were ok after he explained he hadn't been back to China for almost 5 years, and the food was from the UK too.

My daughter works in a Thai takeaway, their business dropped so much they closed completely for 2 weeks and instead of having 4 staff in shop and 5 drivers, they now have 2 and only 1 driver working each night.

Just pointing that out to show I am fully aware what damage calling it the 'Chinese Virus' can do, and thats two takeaways, in one City, so I imagine it was repeated all over the country. Still don't think it's racist though.
