Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

SG issued clear amounts/person for certain product groups, e.g. 30SGD for meat or 1 pack of TP/person etc. Plenty of auxiliary police officers/security around to enforce it all.

Sure you can run from supermarket to supermarket, but at least they do not get cleaned out the soon anything is stocked up again. It all relaxed after a day of frenzy when people realized that nothing is going to run out.

Fully agree, absolute insanity to put the two groups into such close proximity.

It's not as simple as that. We're dealing with a different crowd here. You may well put restrictions on items (as supermarkets have done) but that doesn't stop Mr selfish customer buying those 2 items, taking it to their car, return to the shop and buy another two items etc. You can't police that with the size of some of our supermarkets.

I work for the logistics side of one of the major supermarkets and we just can't get the stock quick enough onto the shelves. There are only a limited number of vehicles and even getting expensive sub contractors in to take away some of the strain is not enough. Add to this that staff are self isolating on Government advice and things just don't move quick enough.

People say that supermarkets must be raking it in at the moment. Yeah, money is coming through the till very fast but at what cost? One thing for sure, already tight margins are squeezed even tighter.

Yeah, I've heard some folks mix orange juice with vodka. Blasphemy I say

Btw: Camu Camu powder is pretty nice natural source for C vit. (synthetic C is somewhat controversial in its effectiveness)
If top medics that delt with the worst cases of the virus swear by it and use it themselves I would be happy to take then chance once my 30 or so oranges run out. I now plan on going out as little as I have too and I don't intend on asking anything from my family

From what I understand is that the best thing we can do is to take on plenty of vitamin C so if you do catch it then it is very helpful in overcoming its effects. It is also widely used in treating it if you do get the virus.
I am loaded up with oranges and other fruit as well as fresh veg. I have also ordered from online a large quantity of powdered vitamin c for if I run out of fruit.
They also suggest to drink lots of hot drinks. The hotter you can without burning or damaging yourself as the virus clogs up your throat first before attacking your lungs in anger.
I'm now taking all precautions, including building up my supply of vodka

Eat bell peppers if you want to load up on some extra vitamin c.
Its not close to the amount you can get from powder, but it beats oranges easy.
Also, stuffed peppers are delicious. :D

For the max benefit they reccomend taking vit c 3 times per day as overload may give you the trots and you lose much of the absorbtion. So 3 oranges per day is my intake as well as some other fruits.
<---- as you can see I'm a fine figure of a man :)

Yeah the supermarket thing is way out of control as people panic.

The supermarkets here are getting cleaned out so quick. Yet go to local shops and they are totally full same as they are every day. Lol my local shop has hundreds of bloody toilet roll. Maybe most people in North Glasgow don't use it

But then again i can see why people are buying loads. If you have a family you want to make sure you have food to feed them and government are telling people to self isolate for 14 days and not even go food shopping if you have symptoms. You have a family you want to make sure you have plenty to last if you cannot get out.

Orange juice with it is horrific. Boke.

I’m far classier; Irn Bru extra.

Don’t get jealous but Mrs works for Diageo so you can imagine what our Xmas hamper was like; enough booze for a year. So much so I’d to throw out stuff to make space for it.

Problem is the people hoarding supplies to last 14 years instead of 14 days.
And the scumbags trying to make a quick buck by buying up things that are in demand.

Same here.... plenty of everything down the local shop. But they are a little more expensive which might explain a lot because we want it all..... plenty of cheap food even during a crisis.

Almost 800 dead in Italy in the last day.

Sounds like we are going flat out making ventilators in the uk, a bit of the wartime spirit with all kinds of
companies dropping the usual products to make them

Brewers are going to start making hand gel, will help them to offset reduced beer sales.
I think we'll be adequately prepared in a matter of weeks, when it comes to equipment. Whatever hasn't been bought up already is being made. We got Formula-1 teams helping out, amongst many others, so it's looking like a real genuine combined effort.

But even with the respirators readied it all boils down to NHS staffing. Training will need to be given to operate the equipment, plus the equipment varies etc etc

So keeping trained staff healthy is kind of crucial now, hence the petition to have front-line NHS staff tested first, for their sake and others'. Last thing we can afford is half the workforce crocked

I might do the same soon. My local chinese takeaway closes tomorrow till further notice.

At this rate i will have to eat a healthy diet soon :(

Imagine WE could be like civilized people not just thinking of themselves like assholes!

Not quite reading the whole of the article...... others reporting empty supermarkets even in Switzerland! Maybe they filmed in the local shop just like they could have done round the corner from me where you find plenty of everything!

I did read the whole article and I'm inclined to agree that it is like that. Or probably WAS, after that published story

If I was to hazzard a guess I would had had F-1 down for producing baby milk powder

person including the cashiers wearing them. Some twat stood right behind me in the queue was coughing.
Think I will get the old tent out and go and live on the top of Mount Snowden for a year

gloves can carry the virus, so youd just be transferring it to the contents of your car
just carry purell and wash when youre done

Done the same mate got vit c powder on order, seen as you seem to be clued up more than the usual sheep how do you see this playing out as far as the elites go? my own opinion is forced vaccination of everyone, of which will be some disgusting chemical concoction that you have no idea whats in it, as opposed to Vitamin C which is safe and effective, all future jobs you apply for will come with "must be vaccinated"

Untitled.jpg

and if you are not, theres no job for you, and I think if you refuse to be injected with it they will threaten with arrest and charge you with attempted murder or manslaughter if you refuse to be injected with it, nobody will get benefits unless they are vaccinated etc etc, I can see them really going for it with this.

David talking sense again.

Sounds ridiculous now, but having seen people's reactions to this and how it can cripple workplaces in days, I tend to believe this could well be implemented in some capacity.

Not vaccinated = no job, no Benefits

I had it too, given to me by the Army prior to departure to Rio De Janeiro and Ascension Islands and I wouldn't wish the side effects of this on my worst enemy - became delirious at one point and lost my eye sight briefly but I was so ill I couldn't imagine malaria being that bad at the time :eek2:
Yup our whole platoon got it as a Oner in training followed by 24 hours bedded down take your worse hangover and x30 and your close to how bad it was.

I have to disagree with ya mate panic buying should have been all done by now saying that even in Italy people are allowed to leave home to get shopping/chemist ET following social guidelines.
The fuck u jack I’m ok attitude in this country is at present is rotten to the core and if the U.K. GOV had no option to bring in rationing it would be these very people who would do most of the fucking moaning the self centred bastards.
This is what happens when u have a section of the community getting everything handed to them on a silver platter take take take they know fuck all else.

Only reason people are stockpiling is because they're forced to react to the hordes of assholes clearing the shelves. So normally rational, sensible people being dragged into a supplies war.

Because as no retailer's acting to protect vulnerable buyers, and the Government's turning a blind eye to it it's little wonder people are thinking long-term, even when they just intended to buy a pack of tea or whatever.

People being dragged down to primate levels is all it is

Have a friend who’s a consultant paediatrician, always plays down his wages as we have a drink.
These folk deserve every penny, rather than divvy celebrities and transitioning idiots the real heroes are those whom help people.
Never knew for a minute they earned this much.. wow

And that's before their private patient side jobs ;)

When i worked in the NHS (over 10 years ago) we'd have to work with the consultants now and then - they were absolutely fine but, Christ, their secretaries were ferocious.

Was one in particular that told me it was a good job i was a pen pusher cos she was going to shove one up my arse : in return i said lucky i'm at a hospital isn't it then? Fair do's

Thank you, Ya Shadow I really miss the old days as I posted on here before in other threads. For any other Canadians check your pc optimum accounts as they even said they are having lots of weird issues going on.

I just checked mine and the points are still there. But I had to re-sign into the app on my phone, which was weird. Was there a data breach? How did someone hack into your account?

They earn every penny mate. My friend works more hours than god sends and is professional to the word, some of the stuff he’s told me is heartbreaking, guys a legend.
Not sure about the private side , we only go into money when I moan he won’t get a round in on his massive wages lol.
Top people however, imagine being that good at something it saves lives , kudos to them.

I'll tell you what's sobering is working with those who provide mental health services as well mate. You'd be tripling their salary if you could.

But your're right - when i kick the bucket am not sure what they're going to put on my headstone other that 'busted out on Bonanza. Again. Moron'

Anyone whom works helping others in any capacity gets a nod of respect from me, my mum said to me when I called earlier ‘you can get 2 grand a week maybe if your offshore’ yet a nurse doesn’t earn a fraction of that, yet trains harder and works harder and does more.
Couldn’t disagree.

There are 40,000 non-clinically trained managers in the NHS, this is one of the issues, wasting money on unnecessary layers of middle management. In japan every hospital has to be managed by physicians [according to wiki] and be run on a not for profit basis.

Just before I left Northern Ireland had something like 5 Health Boards: 5 for the size of the place and something like 13 NHS Trusts; was mental. Then you had the various quangos...

Remember the matrons, ran wards stricter than the army.
Bring them back.
All the bureaucracy is crippling things, managers managing managers whom supervise supervisors.. it’s madness.
Get back to common sense.

Totally agree with the Matrons; there was no super virus in their wards cos you could have ate your dinner off the floor ;-) They basically got shit done ;-)

Like the ‘John wick’ of the ward.
My aunty was one and genuinely had a love for the job and for helping people. Sadly they are now tied up with tape sat behind a computer.
