SG issued clear amounts/person for certain product groups, e.g. 30SGD for meat or 1 pack of TP/person etc. Plenty of auxiliary police officers/security around to enforce it all.
Sure you can run from supermarket to supermarket, but at least they do not get cleaned out the soon anything is stocked up again. It all relaxed after a day of frenzy when people realized that nothing is going to run out.
Fully agree, absolute insanity to put the two groups into such close proximity.
It's not as simple as that. We're dealing with a different crowd here. You may well put restrictions on items (as supermarkets have done) but that doesn't stop Mr selfish customer buying those 2 items, taking it to their car, return to the shop and buy another two items etc. You can't police that with the size of some of our supermarkets.
I work for the logistics side of one of the major supermarkets and we just can't get the stock quick enough onto the shelves. There are only a limited number of vehicles and even getting expensive sub contractors in to take away some of the strain is not enough. Add to this that staff are self isolating on Government advice and things just don't move quick enough.
People say that supermarkets must be raking it in at the moment. Yeah, money is coming through the till very fast but at what cost? One thing for sure, already tight margins are squeezed even tighter.

Yay-deleideehoo!
