Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

If there's any economic fallout from Covid19 I'm sure the remainers will readily blame it on Brexit anyway. Especially if shops run out of pigs-in-blankets.

As for the Spanish Flu back in 1918, 50m deaths, that mutated to become LESS potent as it was killing its carriers too quickly before they could propagate it. This one would likely get more virulent.

I couldn't believe these pics from the daily mail, I don't blame people for being scared, but doing this everytime you use a bus or train in the uk  I'm waiting for it to be a storyline in eastenders, amazing how they're immune from anything that goes on in london or the country, have they ever mentioned brexit, london riots, knife crime etc

[ I don't actually watch that tripe but anyone who does please enlighten me]

I see the inappropriately-titled Bond film has been put back 7 months.

The release of 'No Time To Die' is pushed from April to November as coronavirus continues to spread. It's about a Chinese villain who makes a virus to unleash on the West apparently. Or is that the Daily Mail getting it wrong again?

Meanwhile in Australia, what is with the toilet paper craze

Much more catchy, this is actually Finland’s answer to the migrant rape crisis they are facing...

Not just Finland, add Norway, Sweden, Germany and Holland.

It's horrible watching the suicide of once traditionally pleasant and inoffensive peoples at the behest of a few lunatic liberals and politicos. Do these people in the video live in cloud cuckoo land?

It’s a old video apparently mate, but it’s genuinely being used as I checked as thought surerly they are not that insane.
sadly I was proven wrong.
Can’t offend the migrants, god forbid.

It's not quite that bad a situation in Finland. The video was created by project organisation in Oulu (they had a few very unpleasent cases in 2018). I'm sure they heart was in the right place, but the delivery (esp. that video) leaves a lot to desire.

This can be seen as the result from the surge of refugees in 2015. Finland was not very well prepared for it.

But let's put this in context. It was one gang of criminals. They got sentences from 2 to 4.5 years (on level with the sentencing guidelines in Finland --- which are too lenient in violent crimes imo). Most likely their they are not very well liked inside the prison, since sex offenders are rightly the lowest cast among inmates.

Did it change the political climate in Finland? Not really. The populists here use things like these like they do elsewhere -- To gain momentum and political leverage. But the underlying ideal of liberal, tolerant and equal society is still very much alive in Finland.

Liberalism does not equal lunacy @dunover. It just needs to be done correctly :)

And Ben, you can offend the migrants and minorities here if you choose to. It's an open society, the same rules apply to all. But usually political speech here is quite respectul and decorous. We just take out our aggressions in metal music and alcohol :)

No offence mate meant at all. Was just a YouTube video.
also it’s pretty sad anything left leaning or liberal is alive In Finland as only leads to insanity and madness.
however... as you like the dark shit like me check out ‘napalm death’ superb band with many a classic ;-)

I agree. Napalm Death has some fine tunes. They really take things slowly.

So to distract this conversation.... hand up if you think I should start to worry just a bit for my little people and my elderly mother...
A ‘drive through’ Coronavirus testing centre is due to open at Blackburn hospital tomorrow. This is less than 1/3mile from my house....
Blue spot is me...

Congestion is going to soon be a nightmare then

Hey guys, whether you like it or not avoid large gatherings as a huge proportion of infections stem from participation in large gatherings eg. at buffets and BBQ. This virus is highly contagious and in Homg Kong people have been affected through participating in a hot pot private dinner, a church and a buddhist temple. The bright spot is the number of infections in China is finally tapering off. Countries like IRAN have a high mortality rate
Thx for the humour but cone of the culprits in this coronavirus thing is complacency. Right from the stasrt both Macau and Taiwan had its share of infected persons but their governments took early action and provided their poulace with surgical masks and reminded them to take hygienic precautions. These two places havent had new infections for weeks. In Hong Kong the bulk of infections are people involved in mass or family gatherings eg. a church, buddhist temple and a hot pot/bbq party. The pic is right in that there are no symptoms of sickness when one is infected which usually takes several days to 2 weeks to surface. In an extreme case, it could be as long as 42 days. The mortality rate of those infected is likely to exceed 5% and is at 3.5% currently and climbing. Its better to be safe than sorry folks.

The mortality rate varies please can you do the percentages for the following countries?

China80,4093,012
South Korea6,08840
Italy3,089107
Iran2,92292
Cruise ship (Diamond Princess)7066
Germany3490

Even my small brain can work out it's 0% in Germany, it is only 3.5% from certain areas.

Also we have a new virus which spreads easily maybe we will just have to accept it is part of the world's population now like other illnesses and treat it accordingly and get on with our lives maybe when everyone has been exposed they will become immune and it will die out like SARS.

What is the problem with Australians why do they find toilet paper so difficult to deal with?

Australian loo roll truck goes up in flames
A truck transporting toilet paper in Australia has caught fire.
It comes as Australians have been stockpiling toilet paper amid coronavirus fears.

The next fortnight will be the litmus test as it were, if this is going go be half as bad as some are alluding to. To this extent, we are just topping up with various foods when doing regular food shops. Plus have enough paracetamol to kill a horse LOL

Got plenty of tinned food stocked up for ourselves, though I'm no real fan of Kitekat

To maximize our rations and preserve sustainability we've also decided to adopt the 'Human Centipede' approach, though thus far it's been tricky to explain that one to my boss

Green Day, Slipknot, Babymetal ... Asian tours postponed. The Slam will probably be the next one to go.

Damn. I can live without food for a couple of weeks. Live music and alcohol are way on another level though. I hope it doesn't come to that.
Don't worry man, I'll console you with my musical array of wisdom in the 'I'm Listening' thread whilst simultaneously schooling you

Don't apologize, you can't help being bitter :D

I am what i am.

Worse this week as got a weeks holiday, bored , feel like shit and instead of doing something the doctor thinks i am some sort of pin cushion. Takes blood Monday. Results were a shock so retakes Yesterday. Same result so instead of doing something about it decides to retake again tomorrow.
