Seriously now this thread has turned into how people are offending gays and how gays get treated.

Really this bloody world and country is getting far to PC. Dream seriously you need to relax have fun and maybe realise just once not everything is about you and not everyone that disagrees with you hates you.

People wouldn't have a damn clue who on this forum is gay or straight. The problem with some gay people is they keep banging on about the fact they are gay. Why i never know does it really matter. Noone really cares what sexual preference members have on here.

But if it is getting to the stage you can not have a joke because it offends someone then sorry but the fault is with the person who gets offended at just about anything.

I have been called many things in my life i do not let it get to me. Certainly don't make a song and dance about it and that is in real life not a forum.
Many a time i have had a lot of abuse and bigoted stuff directed to me. Why let it bother you. You just get on with it. If someone on here was saying Dream is such and such and being offensive towards you then it is a different matter. If not and it is a joke you do not particularly like tut away to yourself then move on and forget you read it. Making a song and dance and more out of things than were meant is not healthy.

I agree with portions of some points and some I disagree with.
Life's too short to worry about everything online - It's why I avoid most political dramas...er...rant...threads.

While I agree this doesnt cross the line, there DOES need to be a line. It isnt always enough to scroll past threads you disagree with . In an all-inclusive forum, members need to feel welcomed. Threads can't be a free-for-all and sod anyone offended.

Me? I laugh at Daffyd. The reality is there ARE over-the-top flambouyant men. The skit can be a hoot.
The man in the article is a deviant and a whack-job. Keep your fetish to the bedroom or the club (or when lambasting goatie who has a stellar sense of humour)
I've a rather dark sense of humour myself, obvious in some threads.

I AM however against the idea that ANY joke which degrades a group is ok and will probably always speak out. Noone should feel like they arent welcome(d) in the forum (well, barring obvious extremes of course).

As I say, I didnt report the post - my sensibilities arent that delicate.
But if a post does go beyond good humour to the point of bashing - regardless if one or many argue 'oh, it's all in good fun, you're just being sensitive' - a too often trotted out excuse to express disdain or hate from a majority toward a minority while reversing blame for one's actions, attacking the offended party for being rightly offended, and one I truly, truly dislike - I won't ever hesitate to speak out.

Again, I watch LB. Daffyd's a nut.

The issue seems to be that in these politically correct times, some people seem to have forgotten what satire and self depreciation is in terms of comedy.

With this type of comedy, everyone and everything can be a butt of a joke or the source of a joke. Shows like Little Britain etc were not bigoted or racist etc because of their sketches, the sketches were there to make fun of bigoted views. There's a massive difference and yet people fail to note this satire.

By the same token, Dunover was not aiming to be homophobic, it was merely a joke. I'm staggered as to how precious some people can be in not seeing this.

The worrying thing is, this isn't just restricted to this thread, it's symptomatic as to how the wider world has gone. There's a HUGE difference between someone making a light hearted wisecrack and someone genuinely being intolerant of a particular group of people.

Can liberal sensibilities go too far? Of course. I'm liberal and I roll my eyes often (and get offended being lumped in with the far, far too left) at how far pc can go just as there's far, far too right.
But not all sensibilities are bad. Especially in a universal forum.
I CAN tell you unequivacably, that while some people are TOO offended, there's as many take license TO offend - it wasn't much long ago, NO member felt comfotable enough to be openly gay here (and no, I don't mean, freely flaunt sexuality, but rather, as men make jokes and comments toward the female persuasion, that men werent able - well, feel able to - make likened comments about males. And let's be frankly honest, that hasn't THAT much changed.
It's very, very easy for a white, male, heterosexual majority to STILL disparage other colours, races, and sexualities then shrug and say, well, youre just too easily offended, whilst offending.

I LOVE satire, dry wit, dark humour. I'm also aware I need to be cognizant I'm not the only one reading.

'AN' issue is some people have forgotten what satire and good humour is
Another is, some people haven't gotten on board that the landscape has changed.

Guy who lives close to me has a field connected to his house. He burns that field like 2-3 times during the summer.
Makes it grow like crazy and it gets really green.
He has done it for years, but theres always someone coming around asking if he needs help putting it out, or if they should call the fire brigade.

Its actually pretty cool how controlled the burns are. He used to have a watercan (like the big ones, for your garden) and just draw a line in the field, and the fire comes to a halt exactly on the line. Like 2 years back he upgraded to a super-soaker.
Maybe thats why people keep coming around being all worried. They see some crazy dude in the middle of a burning field with a beer in one hand and a super-soaker in the other.
