Prima just recently added a $250 7Stud freeroll.

While it's not much, it's great to sit in on if you're bored...nice change. :)

It's held nightly(?) at 10:30PM EST.

I'm hoping this is just a trial and they'll increase the prize pool in time, as it's getting a better turnout each night. At first it was max 1000 players...they maxed out for a few days, then they increased it to 5000. Now they're getting ~3000 players.

I played in tonight's for the first time, and I enjoyed it. The only thing they need to do is make the prize structure better than:

1st = $45
2nd = $22.50
3rd = $15
4th = $12.50
5th = $10
6th = $7.50
7th = $5
8th = $3.75
9th = $3
10th = $2.25
11 through 20 = $1.50
21 through 30 = $1.00
31 through 40 = $0.75
41 through 50 = $0.67
51 through 60 = $0.62
61 through 70 = $0.55
71 through 90 = $0.37
91 through 110 = $0.35
111 through 130 = $0.32
131 through 170 = $0.30
171 through 210 = $0.27
211 through 300 = $0.15
301 through 600 = $0.05

The prizes for places 31 through 600 are somewhat insulting. They are worthless individually, yet they add up to just over $100 that could be put to better use on the top prizes, especially since the prize pool is already so small. I think they should eliminate the last 570 places. Personally I would rather walk away with nothing than with 5 cents.

Actually anything under 70th is. You can at least sit down at a .02/.05 PL/NL/L table with .55 :)

They need to start running some micro buy-in tourneys like a few other places do. Maybe that's what they're working on?

Too bad I didn't get a SS: (8/16K blinds)

> sir_winalot wins 195,180 with a Royal Flush, Diamonds

:D

edit: Took 10th, can't complain...got too many bring-ins when blinds were 20/40K and couldn't hit a thing. Time to grind at the low levels ;)

This has to be the worst payout structure I've ever seen. On top of that you can actually win less then the tournament has in overlay if you place. The pool should certainly only pay the top few as much of those winnings can never be played with anyway or maybe that is the point.

yea. I'm hoping they're going to raise the pool at least. If not, then add micro-tourneys. I think they'd definately increase their customer base by doing this.

Guys,

I found that freeroll 7-card stud today and gave it a go - but ...
It's actually a pretty boring game isn't it?

The hands tend to last a lot longer than hold-em - and there seems to be a lot less variation in the play when you can see that you're plainly beaten.

I'd not really be queing up to play it again - and I can see why hold-em is sweeping the tables if that's the best alternative ...
:rolleyes:

Or am I missing something about 7-card stud?
Do you need to play it after a few beers (or ahem ... other substances?)
:D

It appears that this is a direct result of us using a % sliding scale for they payouts (places paid being a % of players entered). As these events appear to be very popular, this has resulted in the lower placed players winning a very small amount.

The revised fixed-payout structure (below) is now being implemented

1 $40.00
2 $35.00
3 $28.00
4 $24.00
5 $18.00
6 $15.00
7 $12.00
8 $10.00
9 $8.00
10 $5.00
11 $3.00
12 $3.00
13 $3.00
14 $3.00
15 $3.00
16 $3.00
17 $3.00
18 $3.00
19 $3.00
20 $3.00
21 $1.50
22 $1.50
23 $1.50
24 $1.50
25 $1.50
26 $1.50
27 $1.50
28 $1.50
29 $1.50
30 $1.50
31 $1.00
32 $1.00
33 $1.00
34 $1.00
35 $1.00
36 $1.00
37 $1.00
38 $1.00
39 $1.00
40 $1.00
total $250.00

:thumbsup:

I do not play in these tourneys but I am sure the players will be very happy with the change. I completely understand how they would have been paid on the same type scale other tournaments are by default. Way to fix it for the players. :thumbsup:

On these tourneys, whether Hold'em or 7 card-stud, does anyone know why they cant have 6-player tables instead of 10-player tables. The former will result in a much slicker pace IMO.

For stud, they have 8 player tables, and as far as I know they'll never have 6 player tables for hold'em. I think the reason behind that is it's taking up more resources for them if they go to the shorthanded version.

I've noticed they've limited *every* freeroll to 6,000 players; even the afternoon one that usually got well over 11,000 on any given day. Seems they don't want to waste system resources on freerolls anymore.

Through with online poker

Title pretty much says it all. I'll keep 32red's client installed for the CM tourneys, but other than that, I'm fed up with all the donks online. I do end up getting paid off by the fishies, but it's too far and inbetween.

I guess I'm the unluckiest player around, because I'm always losing to 2-3 outers CONSISTANTLY.

No, I'm not yelling rigged by any means, but if you're unlucky, there's not much you can do.

Back to blackjack I go ;)

Later Prima, Party, etc...:thumbsup:

I don't blame them if they did indeed reduce the numbers allowed to play, for I feel it's a wasted effort to play in anything over a certain limit and I have better things to do than to wait for 11,000 players to make up their minds whether to call, fold, or raise...
Looks like the Hold'em freeroll max players has been bumped up to 10,000. Must be there were enough complaints that Microgaming decided to increase it again.
Shame , guess I will stay with blackjack (quick and easy) and watching the condensed version of poker on TV instead of these useless drawn out tournies that pay a pittance for the time invested.

After propping holdem for so long I became a stud player. I only play it high/low and omaha h/l is another game I play now. Holdem just got to be too boring.
I agree! Hold'em has always been a bit boring - it's more like a lottery really with all the fish calling with 3-9 & catching a boat on the river! :eek2:

Omaha Hi/Lo is way superior - more interesting & more playable hands. :thumbsup:
Trouble is, a lot of Hold'em players can not be bothered to learn how to play because you have to use your brain! I've lost count of the times I've seen a player who's entered a H8 tourney by accident & then ruined the early rounds by just raising everything in the hope they get knocked out fast. Typically the lucky buggers catch a good hand on the river! :mad:

Those mega-freerolls are pretty much a lost cause - 1,000's of players & hours of play for a piddly prize...?

If only there was somewhere offering freerolls with very low player numbers & decent pots...
<cough> v v v <hint> v v v :rolleyes:

yep.....maybe some rich Brit affiliate will conceive of such a concept?
Rich? Ha! I wish.
This year I've made WAY more from playing casinos than through any affiliations.
It's a lot of hard work for very little reward.

Anyway, how come you haven't registered for the tourneys yet Mr.Balls? :what:

I'm gonna send you the password anyway - so you better use it! :D

I guess Prima doesn't allow you to see the hole cards of the losing hands even after you make the call and the hand shows down. I even checked playcheck and they didn't show there either.

I hate ring games, but I took their free $10 so I have to play 100 raked hands. And that's not an easy task for a lo-rollin tourney player. And I'm too lazy to play multiple tables at once. I think I have 30 hands left and I'm roughly even at the ring games. (i've done well in the sit n go tourneys so I'm up to $50)

Nope, they sure don't. They now play like a regular B&M casino...you won't see the hole cards if the other player has the option to muck, also.

I hear ya regarding the ring games...I'm about ready to say the hell with them and stick to tourney's and SnG's.

It's a long grind, but the $2 10-seaters are the easiest, IMO....but even then you're only looking at half hour per tourney.

Took 4th place tonight in the 7stud tourney, for $24. $8/hour, so not too bad, seeing as I wasn't doing anything else for the time :)

Hey, has anyone played in the 5 card draw freeroll they have? God, I haven't played that game in ages...kinda cool, even though I suck at it :)
