Chances of triggering a chance at a progressive?

I don't often play progressive slots, but just how rare is it to trigger a chance at the progressive?

Today I played through 2000 GBP at a quid a spin on the Marvel progressive slots and didn't get a chance. I've probably wagered over 5k on those slots and never had a sniff. So, how much would you realistically expect to wager before getting a chance at the progressive?

I assume that slots like TDK, which have a much lower minimum pay from the progressive, are easier to trigger?

Not to piss you off here but this is my experience....

I've triggered marvel slots progressives twice,

Neither time did I wager my own money.
1st time was at 888casino, I used my 7 freespins I used to get each week as per their 365freespins sign-up promo

I won something like £6

So I went to spiderman and played it at 25p a spin, (only 5 lines played as smallest line stake was 5p)

3rd spin I triggered a jackpot and it awarded me the super hero jackpot automatically £1088 I was :eek2:

That was the older progressives, which 888 still currently use.

The other chance I got was at casino euro, same again, no deposit bonus, 12p spin (was evening out balance) And boom triggered the progressives.

It was the newer progressive where by you pick untill you have 3 the same, I got the 3rd progressive for £365

Thats my experience of them, not a great deal of help as to what chance you have, but lets you know that they do drop, no matter what stake.

Don't bet on it, you can wager thousands and thousands of pounds at any site/software/slot that has progressives and not see them.

Certainly TDK you'll see more often than 'proper' progressives, but obviously it's almost always going to be the MINI or MINOR.

Sure progressives are nice when they turn up, but I basically see progressive jackpot slots as an easy way to chuck 1-5% of your bankroll into the bin :D

Lash a couple of hundred spins through them once in a while, but don't get involved, unless you hit a big progressive, long term, you're better off getting the full-fat RTP off non-progressives IMO.

I imagine that I just need to over the initial excitement of triggering one and realising that it's always going to be the lowest value possible. I don't get involved with them much anyway because I like to play with bonuses and they're often excluded in the T&Cs.

I'd particularly like to hit one at JPP - since you're forced into playing the progressive anyway there's no dilemma, and the trigger itself looks exciting! All the wee mad presents!!

Well I finally hit the "minor" progressive trigger on TDK. You could call it anti-climactic I guess... :/

I've got another progressive question:

Say, for instance, I make a deposit and wager exactly £5k on a progressive slot betting at 50p/spin. Regardless of wins/losses, as soon as I hit the £5k wagered mark I stop playing. That's scenario A.

Scenario B is exactly the same - wagering £5k and stopping bang on the £5k mark regardless of wins/losses, except this time I'm playing at £5/spin.

Which is the more likely to trigger, or are they identical? Do you get a progressively better chance at higher stakes, or does it just all even out to "amount wagered"? Do high rollers simply hit them more often by virtue of the fact that they wager a lot more throughout the course of a session, or does their higher stake benefit them above and beyond that?

A lot of the Progressives are dependent on Bet Size... Hall of Gods, Marvel, RTG Randoms, MM, TDK to name a few...

Then there are a few 'real' progressives that rely on symbols - Cash Splash at MG as an example.

I have never triggered a real Progressive at RTG on the likes of Happy Golden Ox or Naughty or Nice.. but I have triggered the Cash Splash progressive for about $27 000 back in 2008 ...

I have triggered about 2-3 randoms at RTG and about 5 of the Playtech Marvel Jackpots... I won't really count Mega Moolah as I've won the Silver a multitude of times.

Its difficult to hit the 'Real Progressives' ... I used to play Cash Splash and a few Mg progressives regularly.

Ofcourse, with the Hall of Gods / Super Lucky Frog (NetEnt) / TDK and a few others, the chance of winning the major are proportional to bet size... It can be won on a small bet but the higher your bets, the better the chance.. (Take the Last Hall of Gods Jackpot - Triggered on a 50 Euro Spin IIRC)
