As many will know its now unlawful to have card surcharges but casinos still seem to be doing this.

Rizk still charge, I asked them why and got this helpful reply

Hi Emma, I was just about to make a deposit but I see I was going to be charged, why is that please, when its illegal to do that now in the EU?

Emma
Unfortunately from the Customer Service side, I'm not able to provide you any kind of information regarding this, but we will inform our customers if we aware of any changes regarding this.

Colin
well could you find out from a manager please? Surely I shouldn't be charged a fee when it is illegal to do so?

Emma
Our management has already requested further information regarding this and will change the available information regarding this on our website according to the received information as well later on. Unfortunately the management is not able confirm you anything at the moment.

Not sure what information they have requested, but its been known for months this was coming in, and its not hard to find

and I'm sure their card processors will have told them this before now.

MrGreen have removed their charges

Anyone know any others who are still charging?

Ive got an interesting one - can casinos charge for withdrawals still? As a “handling fee”? I predict they will shift this over to there if that is the case

I received an email on the 12-01 from JoReels casino, saying....

"From this day, we have removed ALL deposit fees for ALL methods."

They're on the same platform and share the same license as Rizk - MT Secure Trade

I see most have now removed this charge, but Cherry Casino are still levying 25p per £10 deposit as a charge. Are there any others?

PS, I'm not knocking Cherry Casino, I've had a few recent wins/withdrawals from them which have been paid without a problem!

Oh good, casinos been found out over their stealth robberies. I guess the associated costs of card transactions weren't as detrimental to them as they first made out. Perhaps they'll now adapt to find other methods to cover their overheads, staff costs, and bank charges, the bastards

Well, bank charges are a business expense, not a consumer cost, so of course it is unfair to pass business expenses on to their customers - end of the day, that is why they make a profit from the RTP's so that they can run the business!

By all means I am happy for them to extend me a line of credit and I will pop to the bank every so often to pay cash in, if that helps them!!

*Don't throw it out there*

Dragonara casino charge for deposits and withdrawals, or at least, they were doing so last month. 2% each way.

Bet-at-home were doing so, last month, 2% on deposits.

but im guessing the casinos will just stop taken certain payment options, i got an email from skrill saying from 31st of jan i cant upload with any MasterCard

anymore don't know why, (obviously no explanation given cause im only a customer ) but a bit of a pain cause i have only have 3 cards and there all mastercard,

Cashmio just charged me £3 to withdraw my winnings! That's a joke when my withdrawl was such a small one.

Just realised I have been, would have over looked if not for this thread

Deposited via DC Monday and had a little win, charged £2.50 to W/D and a small amount (0.62?? unsure) to deposit £25. (Guts)

Is this new rule for all methods or just credit and debit cards please?[/QUOTE

I have just being on live chat to cashmio "mt secure trade" and yes she said fees on debit/credit W/Ds cards the same. £3 it cost me for a W/D of £120. What a joke.[/QUOTE]

Basically, it is now unlawful to charge for card/paypal deposits. So if someone offers a free deposit method but charges for others, then its unlawful.

Captain Rizk says he will update this thread today, fair play to him for replying to my PM so quickly.

It might be handy if whenever someone gets charged you go onto live chat and ask why they are breaking the law by charging you a fee ;)

Reply from Cherry Casino:

Dear Richard,

Thanks for your message.

Rest assured that we are currently reviewing our payment fees, however the current standard 2.5% charge on credit card deposits still stands at the moment.

Should you have any further questions, please do let us know.

Best regards,

Cant remember what sight it was but it was a well known site as i only play at those, It cost me 1.25 to deposit and i lost 13 pound when i withdrew... Needless to say i cant remember the site due to the fact i ditched them for it. althou i did thank them for paying for my holiday

Rizk have now removed all fees, so presumably other MT Secure sites will do the same.
Lets see how quickly other sites do it too, or how long they are happy to break the law and rip customers off for.
Big thumbs up to Captain Rizk for doing this so quickly :)
I believe he will comment properly soon

While it may be illegal I know of stores that still do it. I know in California its supposed to be illegal to charge a fee if you use Debit but they do it anyway so I use credit. They claim a lot of crap, processing fees, transfer fees etc MONEY HUNGRY is what they are..This is the bottom line, greed is the root of all evil. I hate to use religious terms but that is what its all about money money money......ya it takes money for you to hit a button......I bet their fingers hurt after its done.

This is correct Colin, now that the implementation of the EU directive has become far clearer and secondary opinion has been received, we have removed all charges for depositing and withdrawing via credit/debit cards for the EEA area.

Edit: we have decided to do this for all fees, for all payment and withdrawal methods so that there can be no confusion

If businesses and casinos had been charging ONLY what it cost them in fees, rather than trying to profit from debit card deposits, by charging a percentage or an inflated fixed fee.
Then these directives probably wouldn't have been brought about.
The fee for a debit card is fixed at a few pence. But people got greedy
