Reserve jobs for legal workers, Mr. President

If anyone doubts the Obama Administration has decided to protect illegal immigrants at the expense of American workers, U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis' recent actions and comments should remove all doubts. Secretary Solis has created a hot line where illegal workers can call to report they are being underpaid by employers.

Now, certainly abusive employers should be prosecuted -- as should any employer who knowingly hires illegal immigrants. But when unemployment is stubbornly at double digits, the Department of Labor should be looking for ways to increase jobs for those legally in the United States, not spending taxpayer dollars to protect those who take jobs away from Americans.

"Remember, every worker in America has the right to be paid fairly, whether documented or not," Secretary Solis said in announcing the program. "So call us."

Secretary Solis neglects to mention illegal immigrants do not have a right to work here in the first place.

It's the same mentality that led Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to announce the U.S. Justice Department plans to sue Arizona over its immigration law, which it was forced to pass because the federal government refuses to enforce federal immigration laws. Arizona is not alone.

Five states are looking at Arizona-style legislation and lawmakers in 17 other states have expressed support for similar measures, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

President Obama and congressional leadership should be insisting that immigration laws be enforced and jobs for Americans be protected. Then there would be no need for states to act in their stead.
This week a House and Senate conference committee is expected to finish reconciling differences between both chambers' financial services bills. The bill would continue to expose taxpayers by codifying the "too big to fail" status for select Wall Street firms and offering public monies as the initial source of funding to bail out troubled firms.

I believe any financial reform bill must:

• Stop the taxpayer-funded permanent bailouts for Wall Street.
• Reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the root causes of the housing meltdown and financial crisis that cost taxpayers $145 billion and counting.
• Empower businesses small and large to create jobs and spur economic growth.
• Demand accountability from failed federal regulators and bureaucrats.

Correct me if I am wrong please. When my great great grandparents came over here they had to be counted and show INS their documents as to where they came from and that they are planning to stay here. This is how the government kept track of people.entering the United States They came through Ellis Island. A one time major gate way to the USA, it was mandatory, it was law, YES? It seems to me that the major gate way to the USA now is the extensive border between US and Mexico, where there are not any offices or agents to show your documents to. Which is still mandatory, and still the law, YES? Arizona's (new law) is picking up the ball that Federal government has dropped on an old law that still exists today. As an American citizen I am not willing to forgive these habitual lawbreakers. Excuse me, but when some one is tresspassing and takes what isn't theirs or damages your property you want the local law enforcement to arrest them, don't you? I feel I am being robbed and bled dry of my hard earned money by way of taxation to help pay for the illegals medical expenses and education, not to mention the jobs that are being taken. A few years ago thousands of illegals marched on American soil in protest to our immigration laws, many of which had no right to be here, let alone protest our laws! As they marched they carried flags of Mexico not the American flag. I found this to be ironic considering in any other country such a display of disrespect would have been dealt with in a harsh and extreme punishment. These illegal immigrants want the same rights that we as American citizens are gauranteed. If an American citizen commits a felony and is convicted of it, in this country his or her rights are taken away. Therefore, the fact that they are here illegally should guarantees them one thing and that should be a free ride home.

States Rights to Protect their borders when.....

the Federal Government fails to protect our borders. Living in Texas I have known many of these individuals, they work but pay no taxes and their children have received free college tuition since they were born in the u.s. to illegal parents. While u.s. citizens children are not eligible for these grants.
Case in point, the terrorist that recieved a free education because he claimed he was born in a foreign country but had he claimed the truth that he was born in the u.s. he would not have been eligible. Figure that one out.

We have immigration laws that are far less restrictive than virtually any other country. The current Progressive, Socialist, Marxist; Administration would rather waste our tax dollars filing law suits against States attempting to protect their citizens then enforcing the current Immigration Law, as written.

The Arizona law is probably not necessary as any Police Officer stopping a vehicle or questioning a citizen has the right to ask for identification(which means a license or other form of official identification issued by the state).

As we all know, any law enforced by police officers has the potential for discrimination. Whether it is discrimination because of the persons age(teens) or race. The Arizona law does not give Officers the legal right to stop someone based on their appearance. It meerly states that during a lawful stop or encounter if the individual can't produce a License or other form of identification issued by the State or another State; they can request proof of u.s. citizenship or legal status.

The Obama Administration is obviously using this as a political ploy. There is no other logical reason for them filing suit against Arizona.

Worse than this case is the dropping of charges against the 3 black panther members that stood immediately outside of the enterance of a polling place.

Here in Texas, they would have had to stand X number of feet from the enterance or face being arrested.

I think I would have been afraid to attempt entering the polling place. I am 5'3'' and a white women. They held a weapon and intimidated citizens attempting to enter and place their vote. The fact that the u.s. attorney general determined that they did nothing wrong speaks volumes!

I am a Centrist, I say we need to put the checks and balance back in the Federal Government by electing more moderates in novemeber and those that will vote for what is right, not along Party lines.

Obama has changed nothing when it comes to transparency or taking the fraud out of Fed. Gov. He has been all talk. He is a Socialist with Marxist connections and advisors and he needs to go. Along with Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer and Boehner.

Figure this one out -

Philadelphia just revised their protocols on providing arrest records with US Immigration and Customs, but yet they will no longer provide information when someone is a witness to a crime.

Nah, let's don't step on any toes here....maybe they should start offering green cards for those that want to come forward as a witness, then they could take care of two birds with one stone. At least then they'll be here legally and won't have to worry about deportation.

Besides, what good is this going to do? If the defense team finds out that one of the witnesses is here illegally, don't you think the first thing they're going to do is make an anonymous call to the Immigration department and report them? Then they'll have one less witness to worry about.
